I wish I could give it negative stars. Not even sure where to begin. I hadn't planned on driving all the way to Brinkley but the ominous warning signs for the seemingly endless construction on I-40 in Arkasas every 10 miles convinced me I needed to get through it at 1 AM rather than during the day (return trip proved my suspicions were correct, 1 1/2 hour delay heading back west). Rolled into Brinkley at around 1:30 AM. From the outside the hotel looks fine at night but the signs warning "no refunds" and the night clerk who looked like he video tapes young children at the playground should have had me turning around and leaving. But I was so tired I took a chance. And $40 for the night, I was really just looking for a clean place to sleep. I open the door and at first glance it looked okay. Then I headed towards the bathroom. No towels, just a single washrag. The coating in the tub was peeling and the drain had rust spots. The toilet needed 2-3 flushes even for #1. The TV had the worst cable/dish reception I've ever seen-but the TV in the lobby had a crystal clear picture. The promised free wi-fi didn't work at all, was never able to connect to it. All the plugs in the electrical outlets were well worn, finally decided not to plug in my phone or laptop for charging. The drapes had pins in them and were needed to close them completely. I was finally able to fall asleep, not sure if I'd wake up in a tub of ice with a kidney missing. When I woke up in the morning, that's when I noticed the fire alarm. Hanging open, no battery. Seriously? That's got to be all kinds of illegal and I'm definitely reporting that. The same clerk that was there at check-in was there when I checked out. When I told him about the fire alarm, he just shrugged. This place should not even be in business its so run down. Contrast it with the Days Inn I stayed at in Jackson, TN on the way back. Same room rate got me a clean, well appointed room with a nice TV, working wi-fi (fastest hotel connection I've ever had), clean bathroom and a plethora of towels. Do not stay here. Avoid it like the plague. Because you might actually catch the plague at this dump. read more

It was a hell of a drive. My dad and I were making our way from California to Massachusetts in January, so we took the southern route. This was a stop out of pure exhaustion several days into the journey, this Heritage Inn was inexpensive conveniently located not far off the highway. Inside the office, we were greeted by a scruffy-bearded overweight fellow with a wandering eye at the front desk who slowly drawled out the question," Y'all here for duck huntin' or just entertainin'?" I wasn't really sure what to make of this set of options. I proceeded to explain to the man that my dad and I were just passing through and needed a room for the evening. After a slow, awkward, thick-fingered transaction took place, we got our room key. Upon exiting the office and quickly scanning the area, I noticed a pair of 4X4 trucks in the parking lot with telltale a-hunter-owns-this-truck stickers all over them (ie gun associations, pictures of animals, hints of camouflage patterns here and there). I instantly understood the hunting option the fellow at the front desk mentioned as this apparently was indeed a place that folks stayed when hunting ducks, but "entertainin'"? Dad and I brought our bags from my van to the room. We opened the door, switched on the light, and I was instantly in awe of the overly-intricate array of pattern and color clashing that was going on: it was almost stunning. I posted a picture, a rather haunting one at that, if you look through the images for this place on yelp. With that combination of wall, floor, and bedspread patterns, i would think you could probably get away with murder as far as stains go, but even then the rough edges and grime of this place shown through. Truthfully, I didn't really want to look too closely: it was the kind of room in which I wouldn't be surprised if a prostitute had been strangled there, or at the very least emotionally scarred for life. It was at this point, the "entertainin''" option for proposed activities one could do with a hotel room started to make sense. Shortly after settling in a bit, we decided to step out for a bite, so we took a walk over to the equally sketchy chain pizza joint across the street. Along our route we noticed several women aimlessly walking back and forth along the road; seemingly out of place for what was essentially, not even a glorified, freeway off & on-ramp. I then deduced that my initial feelings about our room were, perhaps, not that far off. Dark, this place was dark. In summation, if you're into sketchy sex, killing things, and a grim, hopeless, overall disconcerting vibe, maybe this is totally the place for you. Do not stay here! This is the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in! All other hotels were booked and after 18 hours of driving I literally couldn't go any longer with my kids. Man at the front was nice and gave me a "discounted rate" of $40 (you couldn't pay me to stay here) the carpet was soaking wet, toilet wouldn't flush and ran/dripped all night, there was a feral cat in the walls, bugs in my bed. Mattress was awful, something on the linens made my whole face itch, very thin walls, super humid and a/c barely worked. Go the next exit if you can, or pay the extra $4 for motel 6 read more

I say we but more like my husband is military and I am traveling alone to get our kids. I drove way too long and saw this place. Like everyone said, it looked fine on the outside, but my oh my, it is far from fine!!! Silly me didn't read the reviews before booking. Now I am staying here scared silly with a smell I can not explain. My children and I will not come close to this place on the way back. It had been a long 600+ mile ride on motorcycles from Austin so my buddy and I were looking for a 'mom & pop' kind of place to rest for the night. Looked OK from the outside. The guy at registration asked if we rode with a 'club' or if we were independents. Fortunately, there was a room on the bottom floor where we could park the bikes right outside. $40 cash. The room... a half bottle of mouthwash, no shampoo, dark curly hair on the drinking glass, half a roll of toilet paper, towels smelled... odd. At least we didn't see anything crawling on the floor or on the sheets. It was an experience I don't expect to repeat anytime I am near Brinkley. After reading the previous reviews, I'm totally amazed the place is still in business. read more

It's a $40 motel, don't expect it to be the Hilton. Room was clean and stocked. The room door keys didn't work, the owner said he was in the process of getting new locks for the doors. Brinkley seems like a pretty down and out town . I gave three stars because this hotel is perfectly fine if you're a guy by yourself traveling or headed back with your buddies on a long ride. But If you have a family with you , I would check out the Motel 6 down the road myself. read more

Avoid!!! These rooms are very dark and dingy. A very potent room deodorizer is used and it was so strong it made my eyes water. I changed rooms three times, but the desk clerk was VERY unhelpful. I eventually left and got a room down the road. I did manage to get my money refunded after filing a dispute with my credit card company, but it wasn't easy. This is a very shady operation. We needed a hotel spur of the moment after a long drive. This is not a hotel as far as I'm concerned. As soon as we walked into the lobby, it smelled like urine (first sign). Then the attendant came to the desk. He reminded me of a Florida transient (second sign). Then we went to the room. It smelled of urine, was dirty, the door wouldn't lock, a sad little cake of soap sat on the counter, the bed was dirty and when we checked the mattress (my husband sells mattresses) sure enough, bed bugs (sign three...and strike out. We got a refund and ran to the Days Inn across the bridge. Don't bother with this place. I would have rather slept in my truck if nothing else had been available. Heritage Inn at Brinkley, Arkansas is alright if you like fighting. And crack deals and homicide. But seriously, when we were going cross country and parted ways with Route 66, we thought we'd stop in Brinkley, Arkansas for a nights rest. Heritage Inn looks O.K from the street-it's right offa the highway and well..has vacancies. We asked the somewhat catatonic young fella at the check-in if we could have a room at the front of the hotel so we could see our car (all of our stuff in it, you see). He gave us a key and while Matt unloaded our stuff I went to open the room. Couldn't find it in the front, finally went to the back. The little hallway leading to the back was dark and littered with large black shoeboxes-rat traps! of course, what else would they be. This place doesn't skimp on extras. Our room was in the back, and at this point we were so tired we didn't want to argue with the dazed check-in guy. They also pulled out all the stops with the room: the air conditioner was on the floor, the bathroom mirror looked as though someone had cleaned it with vaseline, and the bathroom had the curious markings of a crime scene: the inside of the door had boot marks all the way up the door, really dirty ones, as if someone had holed themselves in there, against the bathub with their feet on the door to keep someone out-or was it so they didn't have to sleep in the holey sheets? Who knows, but I will say that there were about 15 people in the room next to us who discussed meeting arrangements in hushed voices on their cellphones outside our door. And lotsa cars pulling in and out all night. The next morning we expressed some concerns to the manager who waited until we were done, said "O.K" and turned and left. Well, I thought that since I was traveling without my wife I'd take a chance on a cheap motel and save a little cash. After all, I used to stay in some pretty sketchy places in my younger days and I can take care of myself. I was greeted at the desk by an old guy in what appeared to be a black karate outfit but I had a hard time understanding his Arkansas dialect. Forty bucks, he mumbled, through his missing teeth (the plastic banner outside read 29.95 so I thought I might be getting an upgrade ). As I unloaded my car I noticed some vagrant types lounging on the stairwell next to my room. One was giving me the stink eye while the other eyed the contents of my car, which stood out among the pick ups and a few abandoned vehicles. I opened the room door and was startled by the resemblance to a decor right out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I can deal with this, I thought, but unfortunately the 13 in. TV was inoperable so I figured a visit to the manager was in order. Leaving the room I noticed a scantily clad couple hard at work over a rusty BBQ grill on the balcony above my room. I informed the proprietor of my growing reservations about staying in his establishment and immediately challenged to explain myself. I really think I hurt his feelings when I replied that my tv was broken and the room was a little "rough". Explain rough he demanded. I left without a refund. It was worth 40 dollars to get out unscathed. Everything you read on yelp is true. I count myself among the survivors of the Heritage Inn. read more

This place should be shut down!! Wish I had read these reviews before I stopped. Maybe the just kicked in front door from an irate customer should have clued me in. It's the only hotel that I have ever walked up to the door after being given key but door is unlocked - and told they are all that way. WHAT?? So meth heads can go in and use it when there's no paying customers? I stay in budget hotels all the time so am pretty tolerant but this place was so skanky and unsafe there was no way I could convince myself to stay. The nice girl at the desk "said" they gave me a refund even tho they have a sign saying no refunds no exceptions but I will be surprised if it happens. In which case I will file a complaint w bbb. But somebody should clue Arkansas hotel board or whoever in that this place must have every violation under the sun. read more

I passed this place today driving from Dallas to Detroit. I didn't stay here but from the highway I watched it burn completely to the ground. From the previous reviews, it's pretty obvious that's what needed to happen. Go to the next exit and stay at the motel 6, don't waste your time. read more

After paying for the room ($ 50 should have been my 1st clue) went to the room and was totally grossed out. Roach droppings everywhere, flies all over. I turned around and went to the desk to ask for another room. They did not have any, right. I asked for my money back and the clerk pointed to a sign behind him NO REFUND NO EXCEPTIONS. After a brief conversation I left without my 50 bucks. I was tired but not that tired. I will be contacting the BBB to stop this scam. We pulled in to the Heritage Inn on a night when there were cars flyin' off the road left & right b/c of a heavy snowstorm. The owner was really friendly (though a bit cooky) and gave us one of the last rooms available. I had called in advance and he was nice enough to turn on the heat for us ahead of time. He said he took over management over a year ago (since the last review was written) and had to really clean up the place, both literally & figuratively. He too said there used to be some rough characters that hung out here, but not anymore b/c he had the police run that crowd out when he took over the place. Motel charged my card twice when I only stayed one day. When I called motel to get it fixed the employee went on to yell at me and told me she would do nothing about it and I would have to call the credit card company to fix it. She kept interrupting me and would not allow me to talk. When I told her I already talked to the bank and the bank informed me that she would have to refund it she continued to yell and hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak with a manager she refused to give me managers name and hung up again. I called again and she finally told me managers name was eddie but would refuse to give me her name and hung up again. read more

The previous review pretty much sums it up! We were travelling up to New York and stopped off for our first night in Brinkley. Well, we actually got gas at first and we saw the hotel across the street. It looks ok from the outside, but the rest was a different story. We got our key and luckily we were able to park right outside our door. We got in the room and it was big...gotta give em that. The carpet had tears in them so you could see the concrete floor, the carpet was coming away from the wall, the bathtub had bugs in it and a rusted hole in the wall and worse of all....when we pulled back the sheets on the bed there were hairs from unspeakable places. Luckily they gave us some other sheets...not sure if they were clean or not. We complained to the management and they gave us the cheaper rate. A refund would have been better. I would recommend going on the other side of the freeway and stay at one of the other places that looked a lot safer and nicer. read more

I give this place 5 stars........Not good stars either....They are 5 stars for the most filthiest place you can imagine.....i highly recomend not going here...i wouldnt do that to my enemy...What a dump this place is...The guy that works their looks like he has serious issues and really he does, not to mention I think this guy owns the place and works behind the counter around the clock...This place should is like being in some nightmare...I would love a tv show of some sort to come in and show the world what a mess this guys buisness is....Its the most horrible place in this country I bet!!!!..I didnt even stay in my room....I walked in it and walked straight back out wanting my money back....There was a blood spot on the pillow case....The sheets were absolutely filthy,fllors filthy nothing was cleans, and totally unsanitary of a joint you could ever imagine....Everytime i call this place about my refund he answers no matter what time of day it is and he gives me a different name every time and claims he dont know where the owners are nor has a number for them either...He looks like if you confront him too much about a refund he will reach un counter for a gun and just shoot you....anyone that goes here must be careful with this guy and this place...... read more

i stayed at the heritage inn on the 19th of Dec 09 The motel room was dirty it looked liked it had not seen a vacum in months. the bed had no blanket the heater was clattering all night. they advertise one price outside on the marquee they charged 10.- more when i got in. I asked why and was told because I requested a downstairs room. i am disabled and always ask for a downstairs non smoking room. This is the 1st time i ever had to pay extra. Oh yes i went to the front desk to demand my money back after seeing the room the clerk pointed to a sign behind the check in desk. the sign said no Refunds for any reason. read more
