This place is disgusting. We had to stay because we arrived late and paid in advance. Burn marks on the chair of a " Non smoking " room. Appeared to be Mold on the chalking in the shower. There was a homeless camper/ tv in the parking lot and person was going back and forth to a room. A lady who was shouting random thing in the laundry mat screamed and called my wife a Bitch... as soon as the pool guy was done cleaning, a homeless guy came out of the RV and jumped in the pool. The stairs are sketchy and there are janky repairs on the 3rd and 4th floor walk ways. Be careful when making a reservation here. read more

My family and I booked three rooms, and every single one was absolutely disgusting. The moment we checked in, we asked for a refund because the conditions were unacceptable. The front desk refused and basically told us to deal with it. The first room had soaking wet carpet throughout and reeked of mold. The second room smelled heavily of cigarettes despite the hotel's so-called non-smoking policy. The third room was the worst of all -- there was literally weed growing in the corner of the room, and we were on the second floor. From the moment we asked to change rooms due to comfort and cleanliness concerns, the staff became rude and dismissive. They outright refused to accommodate us, so we decided to stay the night anyway -- BIG mistake. The room had fleas and bedbugs -- I woke up with several bites and ended up getting pink eye the very next day. Not only that, but NONE of the amenities advertised were working -- no AC, no functioning facilities, yet they had the nerve to deny us a refund. We were also charged a deposit, and despite multiple attempts to reach out, we've been completely ignored. No communication, no apology, no reimbursement. How are we expected to use amenities that don't even work? This was a health hazard and a total scam. I'm urging management to respond ASAP. If you're reading this, DO NOT STAY HERE. I had safety concerns on Wednesday, I called the front desk and she proceeded to argue with me that I was in the wrong room. I said no, I checked out of a 2 queen room last week to a smaller room for a 1 bed. She said no you didn't not. I said yes I did. I was given this room and a room key several days ago for this place. She proceeded to argue three times to which I finally said I was given this room on 6-30-25 & you have an unknown man a room key to my room and he tried to come in. She hung up on me. I emailed the property to ask for their safety protocols Wednesday and I received no answer. This morning when I went to check out I gave her my room number and she proceeded to tell me I wasn't suppose to be in my smaller room. I said yes I was. There was a man here in this side who assisted me, gave me a key and that room. She said no you were supposed to be in the other room I said no I'm not! She proceeded argue to which I said I know what I was given. She then told me people can't stay past 14 days, not noted ANYWHERE. I said ok I don't want to stay here anymore anyways. My safety concerns haven't been addressed and you want to argue what your co worker gave me If this facility wants to run people off, this woman at 930am 7/5/25; that was working sure as well does that. I have witnessed her arguing with our customers during my stay this last week and while I am not speaking for them. All of the other employees went above and beyond for me except her!!!!! So no don't stay here that woman will assign your room to someone else, argue about it and fail to assist you. read more

I'm giving this one star only because the manager (who genuinely seemed incredibly appalled upon hearing my complaint) promised she would make things right with her staff. Made a reservation for the week, checked in and paid at the hotel in full around 8pm. Roughly 10 hours later I was: bagging up my luggage. Cearing out my room. Then taking a shower to scrub my entire epithelial layer off. BEDBUGS I grabbed the cellophane off of my cigarettes and collected an adult size bedbug. Took video and pictures too. Upon checking out, the woman I dealt with was an older woman about 70 80. I have full respect for anybody who works in customer service. It's not always fun. I also understand that these things can happen. I told her my issue, and gave her my little bedbug in a bag, and politely said I need to cancel my reservation for the week and I need a refund. She didn't really know what the bedbug was, so I explained it to her. This woman, frowned and shrugged her shoulders in confusion and said "Well. What room do you want to move to" . Then instantly proceeded to fold up the bug bag and threw it right in the trash behind her. She did not care. I then expressed why she needs to be concerned of the reason why I am leaving. Again, zero cares given. She said well call whoever you booked it through, so I did. Expedia was wonderful and did everything to cancel the reservation. Once that was all taken care of I went back to the lobby. There was this new person at the desk, an older man. Maybe in his '50s. '60s, little heavy set. Anyways, he too also did not seem to care about the reason why I was checking out and was asking for a refund. That afternoon I called them, and got ahold of the manager. She was shocked. Upon looking in the system, she realized that the two staff members from this morning failed to make any note about the room I was in, and the pest issue. She stressed to me how important it was and that she called pest Control right away to have it inspected. Again, she was very upset that her front desk staff members failed in this department. First I had a very hard time cancelling the room for additional nights and got charged even though I thought I cancelled. 1st I walked in the little office there was a very older women who seemed not to care and walked a little slowly she was older or older older, and just was very slow. The office was dirty, dingy, no coffee. It was just small outdated. The heritage has been around for a long time so I thought it would be a nice place to stay in La Mesa because La Mesa is very high class and very expensive but no, so I got a key to my room which didn't work very well. We had to call the maintenance. I walked in the elevator and it smelled of smoke. There was somebody something happening with the police department down there there's all kinds of vagrants around and it was very dirty and dingy, and when you walked in the room, it was very dark, not bright. Everything was just old and outdated. It had no electric electricity except for in the little bathroom that had one outlet none by the bed. The phone wasn't working. It was broken. The cabinets were all chipped. The TV didn't work very well and no coffee no amenities no Clock no nothing on the brighter side. The bed was clean so it looked like it had clean sheets, and I just felt very unsafe. This is a very low low class hotel so if you're just looking for a basic basic bed off of the highway eight in La Mesa. It would be fine for one person for one night, but it was awful awful awful. I've stayed in hotels around the world and this had average ratings. Looked pretty good online and I grew up in La Mesa so don't go there. Don't go there, especially if you have family. improvement made add some more outlets. Make sure you're you know cleaning lady knows that nothing works in that room do some upgrade in your cabinets. Everything was chipped. I could probably pull out the shower handle. I mean it was that loose so it was awful. I will never stay there. I will recommend nobody stay there so until it gets upgraded. Worst hotel ever I've been in top three it was pretty bad and if you want to feel safe, don't go there go across the street to the Holiday Inn. Honestly one of the worst hotels i've ever stayed in. when you first drive in the driveway you are greeted by the stairs and top floor breaking apart. not a very pleasant first impression on the hotel. check in isn't until 3pm which is a pretty inconvenient to those new in the area. when trying to check in at 3pm, there was a line outside coming out of the lobby as people were trying to get a room. took us about an hour to check in even though we payed online. we finally made it to the room it had a stench of cigarettes. the carpet by the edge of the bed had looked like it was tearing and in pour condition. the cover top blanket had small holes. the bed was extremely hard and left me with back pain the next morning. my family and i had left the room the next day to enjoy some of the spots out here in SD. we returned around 2:40pm which is when we received a call from the hotel staff telling us they need us to move rooms due to flooding. we asked for a refund and they had said it was too late. they stated they had called our room before but since we were out of the room we had not been reachable. which when we told them that they have our phone number on file, they stayed quiet. i opened the bathroom door and stepped into a huge puddle of water leaking from the fire sprinkler. we had then proceeded to head downstairs and switch rooms. as we made it to the lobby the hotel staff were extremely disorganized and did not have our room ready. at that point we had felt as if we should switch hotels as this was not the experience we were looking forward to. the reviews do not accurately reflect the hotels. i would give it 0 stars if i could. was expecting better. was only able to get a picture of the outside of the hotel but i feel as if this accurately represents the condition of the hotel read more

if i could give this place less than one star I would - not only did it have BED BUGS and they REFUSED to fully refund us, the front desk people AND housekeeping were downright NASTY. The front desk manager HUNG UP on us when we asked for TP - we ended up buying our own. I got BIT up and even caught a bed bug under a cup for proof and it still wasn't enough to get refunded without 'talking to the manager' tomorrow. Do NOT stay here - it's disgusting. Checked in today, 10/1/2024, using Booking.com. That process was easy I'm staying two nights. Paid in full prior to arrival and used the drop down menu to estimate time of arrival at between 1-2pm. I get there at 130pm. Man and elderly lady behind the counter helping a guest that appears drunk and exchanging facial expressions. Once he leaves, they ask my name and ask me to have a seat for 5 minutes while they get everything ready. 15 minutes later, I'm finally helped. I'm asked for my ID and credit card and told there's a deposit of $50, an early check in charge of $22.08 for showing up between 1-2pm and the room fee of $168. I advise I've paid in full, which she confirms and then says to just pay the other 2 fees. I ask why I'm being charged the $22.08 when it's 1:45pm and "those are the rules". They should notify their online partners of these hidden fees, so guests aren't shocked when they arrive. There are 3 different early check in fee options based on the time and 3 different late check out fees based on the time. As I'm waiting for the key, a worker comes in and drops off keys and says he'll be right back with two glue traps for the mice in the office. Carol, the elderly lady at the desk, asks for more than that. Gross!! I should have left, considering they can't even spell TAPPING (see pic) correctly, but I was exhausted and my Lyft had already left. They also have roaches, see pic. No bed bugs. Trust me. I looked. I saw throughout my stay about 20 different staff members and only one looked normal. None very friendly, except the older Caucasian maintenance tech man with the fancy moustache. He was definitely raised right. We had room 304 and a lady in room 306 apparently was supposed to be out a week prior per the conversation I overheard when I was in the lobby for another issue. The La Mesa PD were called to remove her. Turns out she was dead in her room and they waited a week to call anyone to remove her so she wasn't found until that day. read more

Weird vibes with this place. Visited years ago. Area was quiet despite being next to the freeway. Room looked clean but was skeptical if it really was since my friend got a rash. Room was overpriced for what you're getting. Felt safe but then there was a SWAT standoff not too long after our stay there and that's when I said that I'd never come back. read more

Where do I begin, first let me say the rooms do not look at all like the pictures. When I arrived I wasn't actually greeted, an.older lady names Carol, approached "can I help you?" No hello or welcome. I said, "yes, im checking in & gave my name". It took her a moment, she sat my reservation on the counter & asked how I wanted to pay? I said, "ma'am my reservation was prepaid a month ago". She said. "Oh no it was not" I replied, 'yes ma'am it was I have my receipt on my phone & you  already debited my bank card." She insisted i pay again. I tried to show her receipt off payment, she pushed the reservation paper towards me saying, "you have not paid, you need to pay". I was annoyed at this point. So I pushed it back and stated again, "yes I have paid im not paying again, you need to fix this". She told me I booked on Booking.com I explained 2 months ago I reserved through them but it was canceled back in April and rebooted through Agoda, paid through them. She eventually found the current reservation, never apologized just went on about her job. She gave me my room number, on 2nd floor. Normally I wouldn't care but we reserved a handicap room on the first floor because my mother is handicap. She took a deep breath and said "we don't have any, your on the 2nd floor, nothing I can do". I asked. "Do you at least have an elevator she can't walk up stairs?" She pointed and said it was around the side. I was not very happy. While I was checking in I overheard she had triple charged another customer which happened to be my sister who was coming down to complain. So onto the room we go. Let me tell ya these rooms.look NOTHING like they show on Booking, Priceline, Agoda, or Hotels Com. They are very dated, run down and musty smelling of cigarettes (in a non smoking room). The end table drawers were upside down, table looked like.it was used as a chopping block, had to level the fridge with hand towels, the circuit plug next to bed was wired so everything turn off when the main light switch was turned off which meant we couldn't charge our phones unless the lights were on. Found baby roaches running across the bathroom floor and bathroom counter, cigarette burns in the comforter, and inside the fridge smelled like a mix of jalapenos and vinegar. Now they state no dogs except service dogs, Soni was able to have my dog but there were ALOT of dogs on the premises and they were not service dogs and off leash. So the exterior, the entrance is confusing as heck, the street you turn down to enter the property looks like a freeway on/off ramp, very dangerous. We drove passed 4 times before realizing we could turn down that street. When you turn in your making a left in front of people exiting the freeway at a decent speed. They surrounding area has a good amount of homeless wondering about, we didn't feel safe. The pool looked nice but jacuzzi was greenish. Ice machine worked well and elevator smelled of cigar and cigarette smoke. I research my hotels before I travel and this hotel was nothing like what it showed online, seemed more.like a Covid hotel, needs major work and a staff that needs a class in customer service read more

The carpet is so dirty and sticky. We have no microwave and no chairs to sit in. The room smells weird.

A lot could change be prepared for a terrible stay. You wait outside for checkin longer than you get to stay in the rooms.

Pretty sure I would have died if I stayed here. While walking to our room we passed someone who had their door open and a literal meth pipe was just sitting on their night stand. The door to our room didn't even properly lock. The room smelt awful and there were a ton of super sketch people around who were under the influence. We immediately left. This hotel is located in close proximity to SDSU and some major freeways. 20 minutes away from DTSD. Prices are reasonable. They charge a deposit but you can pay with cash or card. Also a $2 energy surcharge is charged per day. Plenty of parking. Also vending machines and laundry machines on site. Hotel is on the older side and not the best quality but just a place to crash or a last resort. read more

There were roaches behind a panel box on the wall but I figured I would report it in the morning since they weren't technically bothering us. Woke up at 2:30 am to find a roach on my pillow. We were switched rooms and in the morning saw a roach in that room as well. They supposedly treated that room, but the morning of our departure, there was ANOTHER roach in the "treated" room. When you book through a 3rd party, such as your preferred airline, you should be seeing photos of what the hotel really looks like. To start, we open the door and it's pitch dark. Feel the walls for a light switch and can't find one. Turn on phone flashlight and it's behind the door. One single light in the entire 'living' area. In the ceiling. No table lamps to read by. Light in bathroom and vanity areas only. Phone to call out inoperable. Entry cards had to be reprogrammed daily even after following all protections to keep from being demagnetized. Ice machine in lobby not working. Apparently hadn't been for sometime. Told to go to restaurant across the street and they'd give us some. Nope, would fill the bucket for $3.79. Needed ice for swelling after knee replacement, not drinks. No fan in bathroom for steam or smell. Mattress comfortable but pillows are all encased in plastic and pillowcases wouldn't stay on. Obvious attempt to spiff up room with decent tiling in bathroom. Plugs were all loose and had a hard time charging phones. Put out do not disturb sign and they came in our room anyway just to shut off a light. We leave one on so we know if room has been breached. When we say stay out, we mean stay out. Hubs talked to staff on duty and they said they had to clean a minimum of every 3 days by law. In past hotels we have had medications stolen and suitcases gone through. Are we supposed to repack and taking everything with us each time we leave our room? All of this to say that when they were told we didn't have a handicap placard because it was in the car at airport we came from, they 'upgraded' our room and let us park in front of office. If this room was an upgrade, I cringed to think what our reserved room was going to be like. Excuse our belongings in photos. This place would improve with a bulldozer. My door didn't shut all the way from having been kicked in previously, I could see light and feel a breeze coming through the bottom half. There was nasty paper towel stuffed into the peephole. My shower had no water whatsoever the first time I went to use it. Cops showed up the first night about crazy people verbally assaulting employees. People played music in the parking lot in the middle of the night so loud the second night that everyone there was woken up. I wish I could give "O" stars. We booked this room through AAA for our 82 year old Aunt who was coming in to town for her brother's memorial. When we got there we only stayed about 15 minutes, once we got into the room it wasn't clean and it was not suitable for my Aunt. I went to the front desk and said we are not staying. I asked for a refund and the girl said she would take care of it. Well, she did not take care of it and we were billed the full amount, no refund. I called and spoke to the manager and he said they have no record of us checking out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. Poor customer service and poor conditions. read more

if I would have read the reviews before, I would have never stayed here. I thought the price wasn't bad. We were just going to spend 1 night and head home. Now being former military, I spent nights in the nastiest of nasty. But, this takes the cage. We get to the hotel and see a car being broken into. So security around. Finally get into our room and OmG it smelled like mold and mildew. There were cigarette burn marks all over the furniture. I had to open the window and door to get the smell out. The chairs and table had some weird "goop" on them. I told my family DO NOT sit on anything but the bed. Speaking of the bed. I think we slept on the first mattress ever made. The middle of it almost sinks to the floor when laying down. Usually in the morning we try and take a shower before leaving. Definitely not here. My daughter said we might come out more dirty if we take a shower in there. checkout time is usually 11am. We got the Eff out of there as soon as we woke up. I told my fiance we need to leave before all the "crackheads" wake up and start walking around. Needless to say, we will NEVER stay there again. read more

Checked in and staff didn't even tell me what the room was and I basically searched around this entire hotel and had to corner a maid in order to find the room. It was supposed to be a nonsmoking room but it smelled like smoke and dog piss. We sprayed a ton of perfume and air freshener to combat the smell. The hot tub was broken which was a super bummer because this room cost like $160 for the night. Also when we got up this morning there was roaches crawling out of the TV. I will just say "riff raff" in place of naming the specific obvious criminal activity going on that will make you want to stay in your room with the door locked. There were SO many cockroaches in the rooms even after they moved our room FOUR times. We woke up at 3 am with roaches in the bed and they moved us to the room next door. We woke up that morning to more roaches so they moved us to a different floor then came knocking on our door 15 minutes after moving us saying that they had to move us back to the second room because they were fully booked. Then came knocking every 5 minutes until we left. They told us that they treated the second room and when we went back there were white stains on the carpet and beds. When we woke up in the "treated" room there was another cockroach. The elevator was really sketchy and would rattle and make concerning noises when you used it. They said they put us in an accessible room but the bathroom wasn't big enough for my friends wheelchair, there was no shower chair for them, no bars by the toilet, and the counters in the lobby were way to high for them to reach or even see the workers. The hot tub was the same temperature as the normal pool. The entrance to the hotel is right off the highway and really hard to get to without getting hit by cars coming off the highway. Carpets were sticky, fridges didn't work, tvs barely worked, everything was run down and the rooms were overall very dirty. Very sketchy location and I felt like I was going to be mugged or kidnapped the whole time. Staff was very rude when we complained and seemed annoyed that we were telling them there were roaches in the room. Also the manager came to talk to us and was standing entirely inside the room with us which was a little weird. Overall a very bad experience and we are lucky we made it out of that place alive and without any new diseases honestly. read more

This hotel is a bit on the older side, and it's obvious as soon as you see it. It's located just off Interstate 8 in La Mesa, and when you get off the freeway exit, be ready. The entrance to the hotel is on the freeway exit itself. If you're not paying attention, you could easily drive right past it. The workers at the registration desk were helpful and friendly. The parking is spacious. My room was on the 4th floor, and the stairs going up looked a little on the rickety side. A couple steps felt like the boards were coming loose. The room was clean. The bathroom has seen better days, and the faucet in the tub took some effort to turn on and off. The water pressure was kind of weak. There weren't very many electrical outlets, and I had to use one by the sink to charge my phone. The bed was comfortable. Although I didn't use it, the pool looked nice. The price was right. Dirty filled with bugs. My room didn't work not a single darn thing furniture was falling apart virtually every drawer in the room was in pieces the TV turned on but had no cable. Multiple calls didn't fix it. The cleaning staff that is required to come in your room every other day tooky bedding and pillows didn't replace it I ended up buying my own. I also had to buy my own toilet paper. There was vomit on the stairs for 3 days I told the janitor he obviously didn't understand and said very good. Finally carol at the front counter said as a sorry I would get 50% of my $290 stay + $40 early check in fee back just had $123 hit my account so they screwed me yet again. There was other guest smoking meth in the parking lot regularly cops yelling over the PA at midnight multiple nights in a row because other hotels guests get to have domestic issues and scream in the parking lot all night while they drink with no consequences. There were homeless all over the property. Worst treatment ever given. After staying there three nights I extended out stay through the Agoda app like I did the three previous nights. I had to supply additional info to Agoda for security reasons. While awaiting a confirmation number the booking was processing. The general manager is the rudest individual with zero customer service. He kept repeating "if it isn't in my computer it doesn't exist". Refused to look at the booking ID on my phone. Despicable disgusting behavior. He should be removed from his position. He has no business dealing with the public. Zero courtesy and customer service. read more

The owners from what you can see don't put any care, time, effort, or money back into this place. The front desk workers are unprofessional looking and acting. The pictures of the room speaks for it self. Dirty lamp, walls filthy, chairs dirty, ac vents nasty, and spider webs on the ceiling lights. Needs to management that cares.
