While short and brisk, I imagined what the views would be like if it was warm and sunny outside. I pictured peoples reflections being seen in the lake and the bouncing of basketballs on the b-ball court while hearing the noises of kids in the playgrounds. Then I came to my senses and realized that the walk was over due to the path being shorter than I thought. Although short, it's a great way to escape and enjoy the sounds of nature. I hope to come back here when it's warmer and I'm back on assignment in College Station.

We zig zagged through every walkway and came up just under a full mile so if you're looking at running a mile or more and don't like to backtrack, then this isn't the park for you or you can run outside of the park. It f you do, the sidewalk doesn't connect all the way around so you'll end running on the grass. The way the trees and bushes are, it's a relaxing and pleasant stroll through the mini woods. There's a large pond where I think fishing is allowed since I didn't see a sign other than no swimming. This park comes with a nice little clean playground for the kiddies and a full size basketball court to include 2 additional mini full size courts. There was even a basketball so my son and I shot some hoops for a little bit. I did see some picnic tables with bbq grills and a pavilion with more tables/chairs. If you're looking for a hike or a trail, I wouldn't recommend only because it's too easy. The walkway is kind of narrow so please be careful of others if you're running. The parking lot is a good size, but I heard it's full during game day.

There is also water fun for children and adults that remains open during summer. There are seat in the park by the trail and it is clean and always green. If you want to venture off the path, you'll find the creek here with some land area to get an overview of the water. The landscaping done for it is well-kept. The trails are also well-kept although don't be surprised if you find some debris and trash floating around on the grounds and the trail. Seems like it's gotten worse over the past few years. It's a shame as this area provides lovely views during nature walks when the sun is out and the breeze is blowing at a lovely pace. In addition, there is a playground and a softball/baseball diamond tucked here. You'll hear the sounds of bats connecting with balls and kids shouting since baseball games are played here often.

Loaded up the kids and went here on a cool spring day, the perfect time of year to visit and see…read morethe local wildflowers in bloom. Learn about this historic inn and it's enterprising owner. An interpreter guides you through the house and grounds. There are picnic tables and a beautiful view of surrounding hills. Wildflowers flourish on-site. We love history and with small kids spent about 2 hours including a picnic lunch and walking around to take pictures. Great place to visit for a short trip. Bring a little cash so you can leave a small donation, otherwise your visit is free. Find free postcards in the carriage house. Decent restrooms. No changing table for little people. Check the calendar- the guide said that some Saturdays they do demonstrations and in non-COVID times there are even more interactive activities, like stagecoach rides to the courthouse.

Further up there is also a freshly painted half basketball court. The main attraction may be considered to be a small lake with a few ducks in it and a fountain- not so much of an attraction for me. The long walk path is suitable for joggers/walkers. I recommend taking along some bug spray.

The people at this park are great, and theres always new doggie friends coming and going. However, there are a few things that I do not like about this park. First, there is no shade on the inside of the park to hide under while your pup plays. Second, there are two drainage ditches in the park at both entrances, which are very smelly and dirty. Finally, sense there is no shade and the smelly water and muddy parts are cool the dogs love laying in them and muddy holes they dig. But, sense there is a hose and drinking fountain right outside the fenced area you can rinse your dog off before you leave, and they won't be stinky for the ride home! There is also a walking trail around the park to take a stroll while your pup dries. Overall, I like it, and my dog likes it. Just go early or later in the afternoon to stay out of the heat of the day.
