I was in need of a new dentist. The one I had been seeing for years suddenly retired. Since I was a person who had dental problems all her life I wanted to get established with a new dentist before I had some type of emergency. I spent a couple of days reading reviews and asking for recommendations on social media. Dr. Herman Salzberg DMD seemed to be a good fit for me so I made an appointment. I have been very happy with my choice. The office is very clean, modern, and has the latest state of the art equipment. Dr. Salzberg is very friendly and did a great job of lessening my anxiety and dental phobia. After my first visit I felt as if I had just had the most complete dental exam ever, and I felt that his fee was more than reasonable. He explained his findings and told me his suggested dental plan. No pressure, no over sell, just these are the facts and it is my decision. I was very comfortable with that. While doing the needed work he always put me at ease and I was very impressed with how he always took the time needed to make sure everything was right. In fact, I felt there were times he went above and beyond what some other dentists might do. In the end I am very pleased with his work. I can't say enough good things regarding his staff either. The front desk staff were always very welcoming and helpful. Every effort was made to schedule my appointments at a time that was convenient for me. In addition to that appointments were always kept in a timely manner. No long waits in the waiting room. They made me feel as if they valued my time as much as they valued their own. I have a serious phobia of dentists based on many years of bad experiences and people telling me I needed work done that I did not need. I went to Dr. Salzberg with pain that I knew would end up in a root canal but I was so anxious to have it done. He met with me first to make sure he had the right diagnosis and then explained how everything would go. He was so reassuring and positive. I had no trouble during or after the root canal and went back the other day to have the crown repaired (he also didn't break the crown which saved me a lot of money!). I also had a cleaning and it was pain free and thorough. I highly recommend him to anyone who is anxious or has had bad experiences. His assistant even held my hand while I was getting the Novocaine (which is the worst part for me)! I thanked her a million times. No one has ever done that! After moving, it's hard to find a new dentist you can trust. I didn't know how to find a new dentist, so I went to Yelp! I came to Dr. Salzberg initially with a problem. Out of my own procrastination and not being as regular as I should be on my checkups, I had put off a throbbing tooth that I knew likely needed a root canal. I had called his office as a new patient to see if they could help me out. Luckily, I was able to get right in and be assessed (yes I did need the root canal) and get my root canal. I was 100% comfortable during the procedure and had no pain afterwards. That was the beginning of my treatment with Dr. Salzberg. That was back in 2015 and I have been a happy patient ever since. The offices are always clean and the service is friendly and professional. He is great at communicating and creating a plan for treatment. He does everything possible to make the uncomfortable moments (shots and all) more bearable. His work is done with excellence. I am no stranger to dentistry, yet I still get nervous! Dr. Salzberg has a very gentle touch when it comes to numbing you up. This has always been my biggest fear and he made it so easy! His staff was wonderful from the moment I walked in the door, during the procedure, all the way until I was finished. My dental visits there have always been a pleasure. Disappointing customer service. I received a note from them in regards to having difficulty filing an insurance claim, which I understand things happen. I took the initiative to get things straightened out and called my insurance provider to see what was happening with the claim. They confirmed no claim had been filed and didn't know the reason for this. I called the office to see what the issue was and the reason they hadn't submitted the claim is they didn't know the address for the claims department for my insurance provider. I asked if they had contacted the provider to obtain this, and the receptionist told me they hadn't, although they had my insurance information on file. I provided the receptionist with the provider contact number for the insurance company and she told me I should call them. I explained that I already had and also that the number I'm giving her is for providers so they can handle the issue and submit the claim. I received a long sigh into the phone before she agreed to call It's frustrating that no one from their end tried to address the issue. If I have to walk you through submitting an insurance claim, you weren't properly trained or are just too lazy to do your job. I had already contacted my insurance. It would make far more sense for the company filing the claim to reach out to the insurance provider so if there were other issues, aside from the address needed, they could obtain that information at the same time. read more

I'm what you'd call a frequent flyer. I had a lot of work done by Dr Salzberg. He's great for the entire family. My daughter nervous about a cavity, he was quick to make her feel at ease. I like the fact most of the staff is the same over the last 7 years. He is gentle never pushy carefully diagnosing and informing you of options and timeline for treatment. He accepts most insurance. The BEST DENTIST!!! My canines were a darker color than the rest of my teeth for over 35 years; no other dentist took the opportunity to evaluate them. Dr Salzberg not only diagnosed them as dead, but replaced them, PERFECT match!! I now have the most beautiful smile that I had been wanting for years! Dr. Salzberg has been my family dentist since before I was born. Him and all of his staff are extremely friendly and caring. Went there as a new patient to see what the ortho recommended.. I previously went to other orthos for consultations and why I chose this one is beyond me. He's out to make a buck and doesn't care what kind of service he provides. He recommend invisalign and told me how great it would be and that my teeth would be perfect for it (vs braces). Well, in the end- after 2 years of treatment vs the 1 year he said it was going to be-- my teeth are less than perfect and I cant do anything about it bc they are ruined (he filed them bc I had crowding- and I still have the wonderful overbite I started with). I'm projecting that I will have to end up getting porcelain veneers in the future. Thanks "Dr." Salzberg Do yourself a favor, and never visit this man nor take his advice. read more

One of the many times I will thank the Lord for Yelp! I just moved up here and - due to a paralyzing fear - hadn't been to the dentist in a LONG time. Turns out I now have a few issues to be taken care of, and I turned to Yelp looking for a dentist that would treat me like the big baby I am (or knock me out in the waiting room). Dr Salzberg and his fabulous staff did not disappoint. Every person I encountered on each visit was caring, patient and highly professional. I had a couple of issues with a root canal, and at one point the doctor himself called me on a Friday night at 7pm to make sure I was ok. WHAT?? Had my mom listen to the voice mail and we both marveled at a physician with a little touch of the care you'd have gotten in the 1950's. I was recommended to Dr. Salzberg due to his excellence in cosmetic services. I had chipped my front tooth, it was definitely noticeable!! When I called to schedule an appointment, every effort had been made to make it soon and convenient! Upon arrival, I was greeted by his receptionist who assisted with insurance information and an explanation of the necessary paperwork which was efficient, quick and painless..... Then I met Dr. Salzberg and his dental hygienist who were both beyond friendly, professional and offered thorough explanations for the plan to improve my look! He had a great sense of humor which ALWAYS helps a patient in the dental chair! It's hard to laugh with an upper lip loaded with cotton, but i managed. I have been going to see Doc since I was about 5 years old. I am now 34 years old. They are very professional and the staff will take great care of you! I love Nancy, one of the dental hygienists. Linda and Melinda are the best also! Dr. Salzberg is the best and I am so comfortable with him. I have had a lot of teeth issues unfortunately and he has always been patient and honest with me. Dr. Salzberg and his staff are wonderful. After my son chipped his front tooth, I needed to find a dentist quickly (i would not trust our previous one with this) and wanted someone who would do a good job as I knew it was going to be a costly fix. I had a few people recommend Dr. Salzberg on facebook and then read the reviews here. I decided to give him a call, but unfortunately his office is closed on Fridays and is by appointment only. This happened on a Thursday evening so I left a message anyway and hoped I could get in early next week. I actually got a call back by Dr. Salzberg the next day, explaining that he was not in the office and was booked for Saturday, but that he would have his office mgr. call if anything opened up. Luckily, I got a call that they could fit him in. Dr. Salzberg was so kind, as was his entire staff. He fixed his tooth and you cannot even tell there was a chip there. It was expensive, but Dr. Salzberg stands behind his work and said to come back if there are any issues (which I do not expect). Unfortunately he does not accept my insurance (BC/BS PPO) but would definitely go back for routine cleanings/x-rays if he were in my PPO network. read more

If you need a great dentist, this is the place. I've been driving from the City for the past 10 years just to see Dr. Salzberg. A coworker had recommended Dr. Salzberg long ago, but I always declined because I didn't want to make the long commute to Palatine. I'm glad I did. My visits have always been relaxed and on time. I have never had a painful visit and everyone in the office is so friendly and makes you feel like family. Unfortunately, I recently required more extensive care than the routine care of the past. It was comforting knowing that Dr. Salzberg would be able to handle all of my care in his office. Even though I had confidence in Dr. Salzberg, I still had trepidation about a possible involved lengthy procedure. I've trusted my dental care to Dr. Salzberg for over twelve years. I've experienced cleanings to crowns and I highly recommend Dr. Salzberg and his staff. I seem to have a great deal of sensitivity in my mouth and Dr. Salzberg always ensures I'm not feeling pain during any of the procedures. What a relief!
