Jeff owns and runs the place, along with his wife and family. Courteous, caring, willing to go that extra to make sure that we were comfortable. It turns out that we were not only comfortable, but way more than satisfied with our stay. Jeff makes sure that one's needs are met. The breakfasts are incredible. They're made in house to order, unless they set out everything in the hot containers and make it a buffet. The place is rustic, loaded with hand-picked antiques, even a guitar for those of us who do play and want to jam out a little bit. I highly recommend the place. My sons stayed there when they visited me and they raved about it and Jeff, and I can see why. If you have folks coming in from out of town who need a place to stay or if you want to just get away for a little bit, skip the airbnbs and the b&bs and go on over to Grandview Lodge. It's no wonder they have so many fans!

The pastry chef visited our table to describe & present a superb selection usually offered with dinner but graciously offered upon request for our lunch. Our lodging was not in the facility photographed in the advertisement, but in the "historic" older section of the property around back. The building has no elevator and is removed from any amenities. The air unit made a horrible noise each time it cycled on during the night. Two of the four vanity lights had bulbs out and the toilet paper rack was loose on the wall. No luxury here. Reported issues to front desk, which doubles as the golf shop. I wish we had supported one of the other local hotels in the area. Reported issues to Hilton Honors as well.

We were however somewhat taken aback by several comments about Asheville and minorities made by one of them.

All the rooms face the valley. Room 214 is the last room behind the hotel. Apparently they stick all the local workers back there. It was lovely to have someone working on their car, right in front of our room door. Add in some music and it was a party we didn't want to attend. Constant doors opening and closing until 1am. Than at 430, people getting up and moving about. Bed mattress was on its last leg. It would swallow you in the middle of the night. Couldn't get the heater/ac unit to turn off. It would shut off for about 3 seconds then come on again. If it had a name, it would be called "The EX". Other than the view, I see no reason to return.
