In May 2017 I ordered about three hundred skeins of DMC 6 strand embroidery floss to make a complete set. It took almost two weeks to arrive and when it did, I was surprised. Several thread numbers were included that do not appear on the Herrschner's website. I placed two phone calls to customer service. Both times I was told that I, in fact, ordered those numbers but they have since disappeared from the website. "How could I have ordered something that is not there?" I asked. Again I was told that they were there when I ordered but have subsequently disappeared. Huh??? Since I already owned the numbered threads in question, it is highly doubtful that I ordered them again. Oh well, it is not a big deal, I thought. I wrote a review on Herrschner's website explaining this debacle. The good parts of the review were published (the part extolling the high quality of the DMC thread) but the unflattering/negative parts (about Herrschner's) were omitted. The website gives Herrschner's permission NOT to publish any review but nothing is said about altering an already written review. I urge anyone contemplating doing business with Herrschner's to take the reviews with several grains of salt. I'm going to assume there are new owners of this company. My recommendation, do NOT buy from this company online. I would rate them 0 stars if I could. My boyfriend placed an order back on April 8th and we never received a notice saying that the shipment has been sent. A month later (May 7th), we decided to follow up on our order and they then FINALLY gave us a tracking number. The tracking number says that the order was delivered on April 23rd. The order was never delivered and there was no chance of it being stolen. I am constantly ordering things online and have NEVER had any issues.. We contacted Chantress (Apparently their only Customer Service person) again about the issue and their response was "Contact CA Post for more information". Alright, fine. Did that... When I contacted Canada Post they said the sender (Herrschners) needed to open the claim to say the package is missing. I literally did all the work of starting the claim, they just had to confirm it. Herrschners response to that was "We cannot contact CA post from our US location. As this order states it has been delivered, there is nothing more we can do. The only suggestions we have is to dispute the charge with your credit card company." What kind of customer service is that??????????? "There's nothing more we can do." Pardon? Pick up the phone and confirm the claim. Not that hard.... The conversation went on literally for weeks about the issue and they are still refusing to refund our money or resend the package. Oh, and their email response time is a full 24 hours, if they respond to you at all. Any reputable company would be willing to make sure their clientele is happy. Long story short, this company is scamming people. I refuse to believe that they even shipped the package to begin with. Do NOT buy online from this company if you value your money, because you won't get your product. Now we're out money, that we didn't really have to spend in the first place AND don't have our crafts to do!!!! Extremely disappointed and will never be ordering from this company again. Not to mention, making sure everyone I know never orders from them either... Absolutely ridiculous. "Per our policy we have fulfilled our obligation as this order shows it was delivered." Herrschners Inc. is also Willow Yarns of the same address and contact information. I recently bought a kit from Willow Yarns and found that the catalog description doubled the amount of yarn actually needed for completion of the project. Willow Yarns refuses my request for a return of the unopened excess yarn for exchange of another yarn. They refuse to acknowledge their error. They have no concern whatsoever for customer relations or customer service. Therefore, I have no further interest in doing business with Willow Yarns or with their Herrschners Inc. read more

I ordered 40 labels to put into crocheted blankets about six weeks ago. I have called three times only to find out in yesterday's call that the order was still not sent out. The gentleman was very kind and redid my order. Will I have to wait another 6 weeks??? I find this to be extremely slow and why couldn't the first two calls have solved this problem. They had no problem cashing my check and taking my money six weeks ago....and to date I still have nothing to show for it. I have crocheted four afghans since ordering these and would like to get my gifts sent out. The product better arrive as a very awesome product or I doubt I will ever order from this company again. read more

I have ordered two kits from the catalog and neither one matched the written description. I called customer service the first time and was told someone would get back to me. My wife has ordered yarn from them in the past with no problems but her last order has been a disaster. On here last order, something got mixed up in the order and her order was sent to "OT" (I'm assuming Ontario, Canada) instead of Missouri. Herrschners said they couldn't track an "international" orders but I don't see why they sent an order with a US Zip code to Canada. She has sent several e-mails to them and she was assured her the order would be shipped to Missouri once it was returned to them. They also offered to send her a new order but it has been over two weeks since that promise. This issue as been going on for over a month with no resolution. Poor customer service. read more

I bought 12 skeins of yarn from their website, I have only used 4 and 3 out of the 4 have been a knotted mess. I have had to cut out more than half of the yarn to be able to use and it has been a complete waste of time and money trying to untangle all of the knots that come out of the middle. All of the other yarn that I have used in the past comes out clean and easy to use, and all of their yarn comes out impossible to use, it has been so frustrating. I contacted customer service and they told me the best advice they could give me is to unravel the yarn from the outside, which takes forever to use. I would recommend getting yarn from anywhere else. read more

I ordered Caron Simply Soft Stripes yarn from Herrschners, Inc. Caron, the manufacturer of Simply Soft, is creating a new version of Stripes that is thicker than the old version and is made in a new country. Herrschners had the old version, the 4 oz. skeins, on its website. I ordered the old version. Herrschners sent me the new version. When I called to complain, Herrschners customer service had no idea of the change. They finally told me that I could send the yarn back, but I had to pay for shipping. I make newborn baby caps for the local hospital. It comes out of my pocket, as would the forty-some dollar return shipping. Using the new, thicker version to crochet the newborn pattern comes out as a six-month old. Herrschners didn't acknowledge the change to me, but I notice that they did make the change on their website. I wrote a review for the new version of the yarn, and Herrschners has not posted the review. read more

After numerous attempts to receive a refund of the postage I spent in returning this item I was rebuffed by them in effect calling me a liar because their records showed that I was sent a yarn assortment when I know darn well what I received! Placed a rush order online and website confirmed order and they deposited my money. When I called to check on status I was told rush order was not available to Alaska and website made a mistake. Order was sent regular mail and should arrive in 4 weeks. I told them shipping address does not accept mail and was a UPS delivery address only they said oh well sorry about that and we will refund your money when we get product back in about two months. When I said I placed order in good faith and they accepted my money to deliver according to instruction in good faith they said they had no obligation to comply. A friend asked me to complete a crocheted afghan that his mother was working on when she passed. The box contained 2 labeled skeins of Herrschner yarn, but the third had no identifying wrapper. In checking their website, I believed it to be a specific item & color number. They refused to send me a small piece to verify. I then sent them a sample of what I had along with a letter stating the item number I thought it to be. I asked if they could either call or email to confirm. After a week of no response, I called customer service. They claimed they never got my sample and asked me to send another which I immediately did. Next day I get a letter in my snail-mail with a handwritten note that referenced a completely different type/color yarn and no reference to the one I inquired about! I subsequently called and asked for Karen, the person that requested I submit a second sample. After 20 questions, the person that answered said Karen wasn't available. I asked for a call-back which, after several days, I've yet to receive. Incidentally, their yarn that I had and was able to use was GARBAGE! Umpteen knotted ends and thicknesses that ranged from barely a strand to a tangled mass. I would give them zero stars if I could! read more

I ordered through Herrschners and have had the WORST customer service with them. First, the shipping took FOREVER on my first order. On my second order, they only shipped a part of it out and never bothered to contact me to tell me the other item had a "bad SKU" so it was never even going to ship out! This is after receiving a confirmation email for BOTH items. On top of paying an arm and a leg for shipping the 1 item, it was shipped on November 26th and I have yet to see the package on December 15th. When I responded to their email requesting feedback on this order to tell them I still hadn't received it, I got a reply asking which order I was talking about. Ummm.....the one I responded to you about? Read below maybe? Never received a response back when I did specify which order. So today I called to inquire about the other half of my order that wasn't shipped to find out it was never going to be shipped at all. I was going to cancel anyway because it was to be a Christmas gift and I have no time to complete it at this point by Christmas. The customer service rep was completely uncaring and rude, unapologetic, and of absolutely no assistance in helping with the one item that was shipped and still hasn't gotten to me. I have dealt with great companies who, after a period of time, just ship me the item again and expedite it. This company will not. Even if my item is sitting on a boat in Richmond, CA for months....I will have to wait it out for an item I have already paid for. I wish I could give them a negative star. I ordered their Herrschner's worsted 8 yarn. It is nothing like they advertise. First, the color, raspberry, is depicted both on their website and in their catalog as a mid toned pink. In reality it is the most ugly shade of hot pink I have ever seen. The texture of the yarn feels like sandpaper. They claim that this particular yarn is a yarn weight of 4. It's really more like a 3. I called their customer service line to demand that they give me a full refund including shipping. They refuse to refund the shipping cost. The actual product cost is about $20, the shipping fee was $10. By the time I pay to send it back I wouldn't be getting any kind of refund at all. So now, I am out $30, stuck with 7 skeins of low quality yarn that I can't use. Was planning on using it to make an afghan that I sell at a cost of $100, so really I'm out $100. Will never order anything from this company again and have asked them to stop sending me their catalog. Please, save yourself a lot of trouble and money and never order anything from this company. read more
