When I go visit my son in Ohio and need a car, I never hesitate to go see the wonderful ladies at the Hertz in Boardman. I'm from California where the car rental companies make it unpleasant to rent a car but when I go see them, they literally have me in/out in 10 or 15 minutes with a nice clean vehicle. Rude front desk staff. Very slow. I am a Gold member but it still took over 25 minutes to actually get my car...took long for "the paperwork" when that should have been all done ahead. I almost missed the shower I was attending due to this lengthy process. Then on my return I waited a minimum of 20 minutes for her to finish the paperwork of another client. So When my ride finally came to take me home; I was still waiting and I just walked out and left the key. The app stated they offer a "shuttle" service. So I called to arrange for the shuttle but they don't have anyone on Saturday and it was impossible to make the arrangements for my Monday return...they close early on Saturday and closed on Sunday. The 800 customer service line could not make arrangements either. You have to do it directly with the local office...but no where do they tell you that. Enterprise for me next time. read more

Our vehicle was in the shop so the dealership set us up with Hertz-Boardman. We had to wait hours before a vehicle was available for a family of 6. Upon receiving the vehicle, there was a dirty fork under the mat. After one month of renting, we were charged a cleaning fee of $450 due to "debris" in the vehicle. The "debris" was from traveling with 4 kids under 4 and finding crumbs under a seat... so you're meaning to tell me that the vehicle wouldnt get thoroughly cleaned after a month rental anyways?-- how disgusting. Very disgusted with Hertz!.. never even given the opportunity to "clean" the vehicle before being charged this outrageous amount which is well beyond the cost of any detailing! read more

Absolutely horrendous customer service. First of all, it was extremely difficult to reach a live person. All the prompts were ridiculous. I had to call in multiple times to re-navigate the system to speak to a live person regarding my rental. Secondly, being honest & respectful of others cost me $230. I was diagnosed with Covid on my trip. When I made my initial call on Saturday the gentleman told me I would not be charged any fees for them to pick up my rental. I thought they would want to be aware of my situation. When I called in today they said I would be charged $230 because the location can't thoroughly clean my rental. They stated it had to be sent to the local airport over a hour away for proper cleaning and I had to pay for that tow. Essentially I am being penalized for being a responsible adult. I will state my response to the charge was the antithesis of pleasant. I was and still absolutely livid. RENTER BEWARE: Hertz is NOT proper cleaning its vehicles at the local branches!!! Those infected with Covid who are not honest enough to let a Hertz representative know, the vehicle goes to the next person not thoroughly clean and Covid could be spread. read more

Terrible customer service. Early on Wednesday my husband reserved a car for the following day and confirmed his pickup time of 6pm. When we got there no cars were available and by that time all other rental companies were closed. The best response from Hertz was I was going to call you and some excuses were made about the booking system. No efforts were made to make the situation right and my husband was left without a car which he needed to get to work the next day. I have advised others to avoid this company as well so they don't end up having the same experience.​ read more

Honestly I travel quite a bit for work and never in my life have I had such a horrible experience like the one I had here. The girl who works the front counter honestly probably is the rudest most awful cashier or sales rep I've ever encountered in my entire existence I was uncomfortable by how awful she treated this poor girl in front of me. The woman working the front desk would not give me the pathfinder I booked. She forced me into upgrading to a Van because the tiny Kia SUV she tried to give me was too small. She then charged me more and refused to use my companies corporate code. I then watched her give a discount to the "regular" next in line. I attempted to contact Hertz directly and they just refuse to assist. Our company rents a couple hundred vehicles a year for our over 120 employees. This place is the worst. Made a reservation and then got there to pick up the car and a bunch of people sitting and waiting but no employees anywhere to be found. Wait about 10 min And an employee shows up who seems less than happy to be working. All in all took about 45 to pick up a car. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT A GOOD RENTAL EXPERIENCE!!! Issue #1: We scheduled a 9am pick up. On the day we are supposed to pick up our vehicle we are told they now don't have a car for us and need to drive 30 minutes away to get one and it will not be ready until 10am (good thing we didn't have a flight to catch). Issue #2: We set it up for myself to be the driver, but used my mother in laws card to pay for it. We are now being told that since my mother in law paid they had to put it under her name and there will be a $13.50 per day charge for me to drive! Issue #3: The vehicle that is picked up for us is not the one we wanted. It was a larger SUV that they feel was an upgrade for us, when in reality it was a vehicle that cost us more in gas! Thanks a lot! Issue #4: The worst customer service I have ever had. Mary was very good at giving sarcastic responses that were rude and insulting. Never once was there an apology for delaying our trip, however, she did manage to drive my mother in law to tears. The one bright spot of our experience was the nice fellow customer that gave us words of encouragement to hang in there as she left. I fully believe in accountability and no one at this Hertz location shares the same feelings. If they are willing to take one tip, it would be to go to the the Hampton Inn in West Mifflin PA and observe what true customer service looks like. Hats off to those folks! read more

They forgot to meet me at auto body shop and never would've remembered if I didn't call. Instead of meeting me like they were supposed to they sent a lift to take me back to their location. The whole ordeal took over an hour. read more

LISTEN to the reviews!!! RUN AWAY AND RENT FROM ANYWHERE BUT HERTZ IN BOARDMAN OHIO This place is a joke with no professionalism at all!! This place doesn't even deserve a half of a star! I had a reservation booked 2 months ago with a return date of Saturday July 3rd. When I get there to pick up the car the employee waiting on me tells me that they are closed on Saturday. I politely told her "How is that ...your website states you are open on Saturdays! The car was even booked through AAA. The employee told me to hold on...she called her manager on the phone and then asks me if I can bring it back that Friday. I told her No that I'd be leaving Florida that day and there's no way I could make it back in time. This car was reserved and accepted by you guys..HERTZ! She then told me that if I couldn't bring it back Friday then I would have to bring it back the following Monday which on they're website states that Monday (Because it was July 5th ...holiday hours may vary) And of course I would be charged for both days!! I told her that was crazy and that they already had accepted the return date of that Saturday July 3rd because the website even states Saturday hours 9a-12p. Either leave the car (which we we're leaving for Florida the next day) or pay for the extra days which the vacation was with rooms and tickets around $4,000! So she printed up a new Contract adding those 2 days on which I had to pay for even though Hertz Boardman would not honor the original one I had. And here's the kicker...she did no inspection or walk around of the car when I rented it. Car was wrecked on the front right and the brakes were not safe at all (thank God I took pictures of the car) Upon returning it she then wanted to do a walk around. I did take the extra insurance out or they probably would of tried to screw me there too! With All that being said here the manager decided to close that Saturday July 3rd because they wanted the holiday weekend off and not be open!!! So tell me how when you have a contract with a rental place and the employee's decide to close for a day that literally screws you out of money!!! Then trying to call Hertz customer service is a waste of time because you Literally are on hold .....forever!! IGNORANT AND UNPROFESSIONAL.!!!!!! read more

First car was junk had to be returned within the hour, second cars check engine light came on 2 hours into our trip. We wouldn't drive the car once we reached our destination so our trip was ruined. We ended returning the car a day early. We we promised a full refund. Three weeks later and 15+ phone calls to customer service and we finally got our security deposit released but still no refund of the actually rental like we were promised. Here we are 42 days later and several more calls to the horid customer service line and am yet to get the refund. read more

Good luck trying to get a hold of someone to take your reservation! I was assigned to the Boardman, Ohio Hertz by my insurance company. When I called to arrange the pickup I was placed on hold for so long that I was hung up on! So I called back and spoke to Brian, (who placed me on hold the first time) I was understanding that he was busy since he explained he was the only person working, so I asked if there was a better time I should call since my need was not immediate. He offered to take my name and number and call me back. I waited four business days for Brian to not be busy and call me back. I finally called again only to be placed on hold AGAIN! I hung up and called my insurance company and had them reassign me to an Enterprise. Hertz, you lost my business!! read more
