3- Stars based on customer service. I found it odd how this location handles reservations. When I first booked the reservation, I was thought it was weird they don't send you an email confirmation, they will give you a reservation number but they don't actually send one to you which if you lose it, you're kinda screwed. Thankfully we did not have any issues and we received a very nice economy car. What I was most upset about were all the added fees and additional service charges that I did not know I'd be charged for, for example, they asked me if there would be an additional driver - I said there would be - but had they told me I'd be charged extra DAILY, I might have opted to be the only driver, she also neglected to inform us about an extra charge for the GPS rental- again I had no idea these were daily charges and we rented the vehicle for over 7 Days. You think as courtesy they would inform you. She didn't go over anything, she just said "sign here, here are your keys", she also didn't instruct us on where to return keys or vehicle, most of time Hertz will go over insurance policy, return date and time etc. I can't blame the Hertz Rep completely, because it was my fault for not asking questions - but my advice is to request complete details of charges, ask how and when return is due, what to do if your in an accident, and if you add features or services expect extra charges daily. read more

I wanted to thank the Hertz rental car manager at the Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody, Wy for finding us a car when she had no cars available. Traveling in an RV we depend on a rental car for getting around once parked at a campground. We were 40 minutes from the airport and she understood our dilemma. Although we waited an hour she was able to set us up in a corporate rental and sent us on our way. It is reassuring to know that folks still exist like the Hertz manager. Thanks again! read more

My hertz rental broke down near this location and I had to limp to this location to exchange for a vehicle. They told me that they need my ID and credit card to verify my previous rental agreement. But instead started a new one and charged me for the replacement. So now I have to pay for both agreement until I sort this out. This location knows the policy at hertz and the fact they weren't suppose to mislead customer, but they did it anyway. This is as close to defrauding customer as a reputable company can get. By the way, I never got compensation for the break down of the first hertz vehicle. read more

Cory and Patti at the Hertz counter in Cody, WY could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. From the minute we arrived at Yellowstone airport to the minute we dropped the car off in Denver, we were immensely in awe of their hospitality and exceptional customer service. As a privately-owned Hertz franchise, both Cory and Patti take serious pride in their jobs. We assumed at least one of them must have been an owner. Having arrived from sunny Los Angeles, we were a little unsure about the icy roads, and Cory made sure we were in the safest car possible. As we return to California and continue to travel this country and rent cars along our journey, we are certain no rental car counter will compare to that tiny desk in Cody, WY. Zero Stars. I had an $800+ rented Toyota Camry last July for 3 1/2 days out of Rapid City with drop off in Cody. When I returned the car in Cody, there were no reps outside, renters told the agents the mileage on the car and were charged. Months later I received a letter from PurCo Fleet services saying Hertz had made a hail claim on my car. They sent 6 photos, 1 of the overall car, 1 of the key, 2 of a finger pointing to what looks like aluminum molding on the top of a door, 1 of a finger pointing to what looks like the roof and a pic of some tablet on the windshield. With this I might conclude there is damage to molding and perhaps the roof. However, the charges are $2,567.88 They replaced hood, fender, roof, pillars, rocker, floor, front door, rear door quarter panel, trunk lid. How do these photos warrant this extensive repair? Evidently I have to just "believe" that a) the photos were taken in July, when they were sent in October and b) that basically the entire shell of the car needed to be replaced, I saw nothing wrong with the car when it was returned and another car traveling with me had no damage. It has been nothing but a dead end trying to get more proof of the damage - PurCo claims they only have what's sent and Hertz has no clue, they hand it off to PurCo in a royal finger pointing battle. USAA will only pick up the "repair" part minus my deductible or $1500. Loss of Use and Admin fees don't get covered, so this 3 1/2 day rental will top out at just under $2,000. This is a business that is a scam as far as I can tell. I can't prove them wrong when it's months later and repairs have already been made. Hertz will NEVER see me rent from them again. read more
