This is not a Hertz owned location. It is franchise owned. I went online to rent a car and my rate was $47. The web site kicked me off so I waited about 20 minutes to get back on and my rate went to $67. When I aired my complaint with the counter agent she said, "yeah, it happens". It automatically closed the reservation with a "pay at the location" which took my rate to over $80. This location does not have a member board so you will wait in line as if you never rented from Hertz before. THIS IS A BUYER BEWARE LOCATION. Corporate Hertz locations will not help you if you have an issue. The employees there have a couldn't care less attitude. read more

Amazing service!! Chuck was up selling an upgrade while I was out looking for my vehicle so much I went back inside and upgraded to a Toyota Hybrid per his recommendation. They didn't have any clean so we pulled a dirty one. Ran it through the car wash and cleaned the inside so it was ready to rent. Such an amazing customer service experience. Gave it a 1 star, only because there was nothing lower. They rented me a RAV4 while my car was in the shop for repairs. They delivered the car to me in Fairborn, so they had driven it on the highway to get there. The windshield has something spilled all over it, which the washer fluid would not touch. I took it on the highway the next morning (had only driven it home and parked in garage after picking up), and at highway speeds, the ride was rough. I should have taken it back, but didn't have time. I ended up over a week later having a tire blow out at highway speed. The tire had to have been defective, it blew on the inner sidewalk. After putting the spare on (a donut), I could not believe the difference in the way the car rode, it was a nice smooth ride. The tire had to be bad when they gave me the car, and then they had the nerve to charge me for the tire! Doesn't say much for the quality of service, I could have been seriously injured. I got no apology or concern, only another bill. They said I must have hit a curb or pothole to cause the damage, which did not happen, and also indicated I should have checked the tire when the car(that the Hertz employee drove to me) rode rough. read more

Being a Gold Card member at the Dayton Airport location means nothing. Went to counter there was a sign that said Gold Card members go to booth in parking garage. Went there the service booth was not open. Came back in and was told to get in a line of about 15 people. Hertz management needs to take a hard look at this hick operation read more

The check-in process was great. The counter women was very sweet and let us pick the car we wanted. She found our reservation quickly and even explained how it would be easier to use our credit card versus the debit card so we took her advice. The car was brand new and being Toyota, we were familiar with the technology and everything that comes with a car. Turning the car in was sooooo easy too. Background: I am a Hertz Presidents Circle customer, and am "up in the air" every week. This is by far the worst Hertz I have ever encountered. It is not a real Hertz - this is a "franchisee". Was given a Toyota Corolla (no upgrade) with over 33k miles on it upon arrival to the airport. Despite satellite radio being requested on my reservation, was promptly told that they do not activate satellite radios on any of their cars in the Dayton fleet. Probably due to the high mileage, I received a dashboard warning light after about 100 miles. I pulled into a Hertz local edition (which happened to be a corporate location), and they couldn't even switch it out because I rented my car from this fake / franchisee Hertz airport location. Because the car originated from a franchisee, it can ONLY be returned to that exact same location. So I had to take the car to a local car repair shop and get them to fix this vehicle. I would never recommend this location to anyone. I got a below standard Toyota Corolla with 33k+ miles on it with top tier status on a business contract. I can't imagine what they would've given me if I was just a "regular" customer paying "regular" rates. AVOID. read more

as stated by other reviewers, this isn't really HERTZ, it's a licensee that makes up their own policies. Unfortunately, most of us don't think of this when we are booking through the national number or website. My lesson is learned here to always check. Hopefully, my review, along with the others I see with similar bad experiences will help someone avoid horror of this licensee. One star only because it is not possible to leave zero. This location would not accept a reservation made through USAA under the terms made. They demanded additional documentation in order to avoid fulfilling the reservation, despite being contacted by the Hertz USAA specialist. My follow-up contact with them was met with apathy, bordering on rudeness. read more

Overcharged, poor customer service. Reserved a rental for 5 days - at pickup, asked to extend it a 6th additional day. Agent said no problem, quoted me the new price. After drop off, Hertz never bothered sending me my bill, and instead charged me what I was quoted plus another $80. After calling and speaking to the agent, and finally receiving my bill to look over, I was overcharged for my last two days, as though they weren't part of my reservation. After some back and forth with the agent where she offered reasons that even she agreed made no sense, she forwarded my info to the manager with a promise I'd receive a response within a few days. Well, two weeks (and several call backs) later I still haven't gotten any response from the manager, so enjoy dealing with my credit card company! Thanks Hertz! I travel regularly for business (and have used some pretty sketchy rental companies) and I've still never come close to this level of apathy and incompetence. read more

They get a five star even after a screw up...good folks! I booked a day rental for a quick trip to Dayton to visit friends and picked up my car without an issue. The manager was on duty at pick up; he was heading outside to deal with something (there was a "5 minutes, please" sign on the counter) but he saw me and turned back around to help me instead. Booked a compact and ended up with a fully loaded Toyota Corolla with very low mileage. The gold spots are easy to access as soon as you walk in the garage and I was on my way quickly. At drop off, the lady working the check-in gun really had no clue (she struck me as the type that a computer would make her cry). Very sweet, but not so helpful when the bill came up about $40 higher than it should have. She told me that I'd have to go inside and wait at the counter, and I didn't have time for that. So then she told me just to call back later and they'd take care of me. My call the next day started with being hung up on three times (I'm guessing they were having phone issues) and then being told by someone at the counter that she couldn't help me and that the manager couldn't help me, but she'd have him call me anyways. So when he called me an hour later, taking care of the problem plus a decent amount extra, I was pretty impressed. His apology was sincere and I was more than happy with the outcome. I've always been a pretty loyal Hertz customer (#1 Gold member for years due to business travel), but it's experiences like this that make them my favorite choice for personal travel as well. Why have on line reservation and offer President Circle member a car with XM then dump them in a Corolla. It really pays to have status with Hertz when you visit this location... NOT! read more

I almost never write negative reviews but because I'm so bothered when businesses do things that take advantage of customers, I need to speak my peace in the hopes that they change stop trying to RIP PEOPLE OFF! At the airport location, they charge $9 a gallon to refuel! 20 gallon tank would cost $180 vs $45 if you get gas at a local station before you get to the airport. I don't know if it's Hertz or a local franchisee but no matter, I will not likely rent from Hertz anywhere ever again. read more

Warning -- this is a licensee location, not a corporate location. Hertz is even in the wrong font on the receipt. It's amateur hour. Be prepared for longer waits and check your receipt over thoroughly. I was charged for gas despite the car being recorded as having been returned full (receipt indicates 8/8). The agent that checked the car in made no mention of the fuel charge, and simply emailed me the receipt. Had I not checked later, I would have been unaware of the charge. I would not have a problem with this situation had I been informed of the charge so I could have shown the agent my gas receipt; unfortunately now I've got to waste my time trying to sort things out from thousands of miles away. Furthermore, I tried contacting Hertz corporate to get the charge reversed, and they had no record of the rental at all, which means the agent could not assit me in reverting the fuel charge. read more

This is a franchise location and it was very unorganized. I was overcharged because there was a line when returning the cars and so by the time they checked me in I was a couple minutes over. I was in a rush so I figured I would sort it out when I was done traveling, but when I called them they were very unhelpful said that they could not change anything because it had been over 24 hours. I've rented multiple times from Hertz with no issues but this one is awful They gave my husband a car where the license plate was not visible at night and dirty and barely readable during the day and recommended he just switch the plates around. Would/could not do anything about it. Didn't seem to care he was pulled over twice and searched because of it and said the "cop has to had suspicion to search the car so I can't speak on why he did that." read more

The hertz counter at the Dayton airport has an employee that is beyond excellent. My flight was more than two hours late so arrived at 130 in the morning and he waited until I arrived to get me my car. Chris made sure I was happy and offered to change the car if not. All the other people with reservations on my flight from Avis and Enterprise received no car because those counters didn't care they went home. I am so pleased with this service I was here to see my brother who has cancer and didn't need to have extra stress so I can't even tell you how much it means to me to find an employee that makes my life easier not harder. The world needs more people like Chris who are devoted to their job and make sure every customer is pleased with their experience. read more

Amazing lack of customer service. Astounding really. 1 agent busy for 10 minutes with a time-consuming customer. Another agent doing ZERO. Steadfastly refused to help me because I wasn't a Gold member of Hertz. Zero other customers in the time I was here. Zero phone calls. Zero service from her. On the morning of a blizzard, I gave myself 30 extra minutes to drop off my rental...It wasn't enough. I was 20 minutes late which cost me 53.00 extra for late fee. They certainly knew of the interstate accidents due to the gusting winds and ice. There should have been a little effort to wave this very short late fee. Moreover, I picked it up in DC. It was filthy, stained and dented. I had to call the employee out to add the dents on to the inspection..Lord help me if I would have been charged for that too. read more

It took forever to stand in line to get the car. Only one person worked the counter while the lazy boss sat in the back doing nothing. We planned to drop the car off at the Cincinnati airport, and we got there, no one was able to give us a final receipt closing out the contract. They said that the Dayton airport office was a hertz affiliate, and they had to close it out by phone. Of course no one answered when the hertz Cincinnati office called. I still don'thave a final bill. Go to any other rental car company other than hertz at the Dayton airport. They are bad news! read more

In the days where people are quick to inform others of the negative customer service, I am here to give praise on excellent customer service. This morning I had a reservation with Budget at the airport for 12:30am, however I overslept and didn't make it until roughly 12:58. As I arrived at the customer service desk the cashier/worker was in the office preparing to leave (they close at 1). I speak to the Hertz worker asking was anyone working and she was unsure. The worker eventually came out and informed me I needed to speak with the guy in the garage to pick up my car. I run to the garage because I know they are closing, and upon speaking to the worker he says I need to get the paperwork from the cashier. Realizing I just was given the run around I am extremely upset. I speak to the Budget worker as he leaves and he tells me it's nothing he could do so come back at 6:30. Distraught I go back in and speak to the Hertz worker asking could she help, she replies she just clocked out, however she's willing to see what she can do. My reservation with budget was 2 days for an economy for $35. I show her my reservation and she lets me know they don't have anything but midsize, but will try to find me something reasonable. I had an important training 4 hours away and I, having a gas guzzler, usually rent small cars to conserve gas. She gets me a mid-size for $60 for the day. Despite the price I was ecstatic at her genuine concern and exceptional customer service. The worker named Tina for you at the Dayton International Airport is wonderful. I wanted her to know I am so grateful that there are people that take pride in their job, and wish her all the blessings that are coming her way. This is absolutely the worst customer service of any Hertz location. I am a Gold member, but this location was unable to find our company in the system. We rent from Hertz EVERY WEEK and yet were charged the full rate. I called Hertz corporate to get them to help me, but this facility is Hertz in name only and therefore isn't subject to Hertz rules. I called the manager at the Dayton location three times to get this resolved, but no return call. Hertz has lost our business because of the poor service at this one location. If you're a Hertz member, consider using another car rental agency in Dayton. Terrible service! read more

Horrible!! Hertz markets itself as national chain. Due to a cancelled flight out of Dayton, I was rerouted to leave out of Cincinnati. The rate for my rental doubled in price because it was now a one way rental...$125/day for a compact car!!! Total price gouging. I will never recommend that anyone rent from the Dayton International Airport location, ever. Actually, I told everyone in my section on both flights going and coming to never rent from this location ever again and I will be leaving a yelp review as well. That's how BAD it was. First, I am a gold member even though I didn't put it on my rental reservation this time, for some reason members get charged more than a guest so sometimes I go through guest to get a cheaper rate, which it should be the other way around. The agent at the desk at time of rental not only displayed actions as though he was frustrated with me but demanded just to rent the car/vehicle my social security number, to speak with my rental agent, 2 forms of identification, 2 phone numbers and gave me the absolute worst car on the lot and told me he was surprised that my credit check went through. NEVER IN MY LIFE will I ever rent from this raggedy and unprofessional location again and I don't recommend that anyone else do either. It was 10:30 am at night, my flights were 4 hours behind and the LAST thing anyone wants to go through is being recommended to go rent somewhere else because I am black and he thought that I would not have insurance or pass the credit check. I have never been treated so poorly from a business! When I called to make a reservation to rent a car everything seemed good, I asked if I was able to drop it off at another location since I would be returning it before I returned to the airport and it would be out of my way to have a ride follow me up. I extended my time of use for the vehicle for Sunday the 3rd, I specifically asked the girl if I could drop off on a Sunday at the location nearest me and was told yes just be there by 4:30 pm. I get there and they are closed, I call the dayton hertz back and explain the situation and was told I would be charged an extra day. I have screen shots from when I looked up the address and it says it is open on Sundays, The girl told me her ams was Olivia yet when the manager at the hertz location called the dayton location they told her their was no olivia that worked there, well who did I speak to? I have a witness to all of this and had her on speakerphone. Then they dayton people told her that no one would have told me to drop off on Sunday, well then Why did I show up to do that? I had no reason to believe they would be closed otherwise I would have dropped it off earlier. The the manager Kendra got and attitude with me raising her voice. I said I am not getting charged an extra day for Hertz mistake, she rolled her eyes and got loud say " oh yes they are!" in a very rude tone. Then says I am being charged an extra $200 for a cleaning charge because the floors needed to be vacuumed, are you serious!! I can take it and go clean the floors real quick and come back, to which kendra said "we would still charge because I saw it." WHAT AN EFFING SCAM!!! They give attitudes an drake names and will literally find anyway to charge you. I have been trying to resolve this with the Manager at the Dayton airport Ben, who has yet to get in contact with me. The people I spoke with kept saying he was busy etc and would email him and call him. Finally on day 3 I get a call from an unknown New York number that I didn't answer, it was him I immediately called the number he told me to call back and nothing! I call customer service and explain my issue and why I am so unhappy and they tell me nothing can be done, I have to get in contact with Ben the manager at the airport. He also tells me they are basically like a franchise and pay for the name and can treat people however they want and nothing they as a business can do! horrible business practice they are allowing people to scam anyone they feel like, the cars are over priced as it is. The attitudes I am getting from everyone at Hertz now that I dropped it off is ridiculous, I have never in my life seen such horrid service and business practices. I will ever rent a car from Hertz or any car rentals ever again if I can help it! I will make sure to tell everyone of my poor experience and yes I am getting my lawyer involved. I am still trying to get a hold of the manager Ben, I emailed him the screen shots of the place saying they were open. I think it's very shady that the employees give out fake names and treat people like crap even coming from a manager. DO NOT EVER USE HERTZ and to just say Enterprise ever both of these places are just scammers ad they will do anything to continue to charge you! And saying its a chain like that makes it okay to treat people like shit is absolutely ridiculous. I am very upset and disappointed. I can't believe their is no customer service to call for these ridiculous separate chains. The fact that the Manager I have been trying to get in touch with for 3 days is not at all concerned about my concerns is bad management and horrid customer relations, these people do not care about their customers or their cars they just want to figure out how to charge you more. I rented a car online for a family vacation in August 2016. My Hertz reservation confirmation says "Amount to be paid at time of rent $85.38". When I arrive at the Hertz counter in the Dayton airport I end up paying $119.66!!! First they tried to charge me even more, but I argued and he was able to reduce it some. The guy behind the counter just kept saying they charged me the weekend rate for 4 days and he can't do that. What a deceptive BS way to do business!!! They know they have you by the "you know what" when you're standing at their rental counter at 11 o'clock at night and you need a car to get somewhere.
