The Hesperia branch library does not accept phone calls. I called the number listed on google and it just says the hours and hangs up on you. For a county library it's not bad. It's always clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. They have a lot of books, but it seems like the books we want are nearly always checked out or they just don't have them there. Many times the system shows the book is there but no matter what we do, we can't find it. Like things are just slightly out of order on the shelf or someone hid it and it's just no where to be found. The kids love that they have tablets but it wish they had a cozier spot for little ones, like some bean bags or comfy chairs.. the tiny chairs aren't very adult friendly and my toddler refuses to sit anywhere else lol. I do love the self check out and drop off, it makes it so you can easily get in and out when it's crowded and not have to wait in a giant line. read more

Beverly facilitated my card. The library is Spacious and lots of new books. Also, it's a quiet library, which it should be but other libraries struggle to keep the noise down. i have to say it was a very positive experience and I plan to return. read more

I usually have had great experiences at the Hesperia library but not this last month it has been a hassle. I got a email about a damaged book and so I went in to see what it was all about that same day I got the email. The guy working Showed me the book and I told him I didn't do it. It was a page that had been ripped and taped. He told me that I needed to talk to the branch manager to get it taken off my account. Of course the manger wasn't there, so I went the next week and she wasn't there again and so I went the next week which is today, and she was finally there. Now before I came today I even brought books that I found that were ripped or taped because I said I better go through all the books I have and make sure they aren't damaged, so I don't get charges for those. I Found books damaged so I brought those in to show her. She calls me over and asks what is the problem. So I told her I didn't do it and I wanted the charge off my account. The whole time she was making me feel like I did it!! She said that the lady who checked them out to me usually checks every page for damages and I said obviously not because I didn't do this and she checked it out to me! I even showed her the books I brought that were also damaged that I found and she blamed me for those too!! I'm almost 30 years old I could pay for a dang book if I damaged it! In this case I didnt do it and I don't like being charged for something I didn't do. So after going back and fourth with her she said I had a good history and I've been a library card holder for awhile, So just this once she was going to waive the fee! It still rubs me the wrong way because she's still putting the blame on me!! She needs to talk to her employees to check the books better when checking them out! Shame on Hesperia library! Now, I will start make the person working check every page and I will doublecheck too! I will be that annoying customer! It also is a lesson learned I should check the books before I check them out but also I think it is the workers job since they get paid to do it. Awesome local library with private study rooms, professional staff, and reading programs for students. I prefer the facilities here to the Victorville branch by far. The parking lot is spacious. I've never had an issue parking here. It's next door to Hesperia City Hall and it's always struck me as a safe area. It's on Seventh right near Main Street and close to all the big shopping and eating spots in Hesperia. I don't live in Hesperia, but maybe you do and that might be a bit more relevant for you It's great that the San Bernardino County library system all operates off one card and you can go to all the libraries the county offers and you can see how awesome the gems are. read more

Great library! Clean and looks of books and activities for kids. If this location doesn't have the book that you want, you can reserve the book using your library card on the sblib website and pick it up at whichever location you want. I believe you can check out up to 50 books at once and renew as many as 9 times. There are plenty of computers available for internet usage. There's also a nice selection of audiobooks and movies on DVD available for checkout. Some of the movies cost a small fee. I really enjoy the activities here and the incentives they provide for kids to encourage them to read! read more

I love this library and to have a great park and movie theater right behind it what an awesome idea! I've actually done photo shoots around the library and the park. I love coming and hanging out here. The only thing I miss is when the fireplace was working and you could sit and read by a fire. I've never seen that in a library before. I've asked about it and they said that something was broken on it so that's why there hasn't been a fire but that was a few years back and still no fire so not sure what's up with that. Maybe because of the homeless population but whatever it is do miss the fires. I remember being on a computer once and a person was playing a didgeridoo during a demonstration of some kind which was very cool...would love some more events in the park and the library, we definitely need more things to do in the desert and the park and library are great places to do them! read more

They got rid of the loud blow up dinosaur! Yes! I've been coming to this library for months and have noticed that on Tuesdays it's the loudest- due to some type of kids event. I come early in the morning so it doesn't get too loud/hectic but once it hits afternoon, it tends to get busy. Clean bathrooms, fast wifi, plenty of computers, staff is really friendly. Free printing (up to 5). Great to come with your kids! They are constantly having events, one day they had a popcorn machine for the kids. Good for kids, bad for studying students ;( Like I mentioned in my previous post. Really exceeded my expectations for a library in the high desert. Will continue to come and study here :0) read more

This library is not that good, although I come here often at least 4 times a week. I have found cockroaches in the bathroom. The British librarian with glasses once screamed at me for having a Starbucks cup with water, even though I see people bring in drinks EVERY day here, Fanta sodas, coffees, iced teas, etc. She is very rude and nasty, and told me that she was the second in command so I couldn't do anything about it. Sweetie... I also reported you to the district manager of the entire San Bernardino Branch library, so.... I CAN do something about it! The workers at the printer move at a snail pace and can never figure out the printing job. They take forever and are extremely unhelpful. There's always crying babies or children screaming. There's an atmosphere of chaos in this library. However if you need access to a desktop computer, it's efficient in that sense. read more

I never had an issue here before untill today.... Today around 4pm my car battery died out in the parking lot while i was inside on the computer checking my school emails because my cell phone died while i was at work.(i work at the movie theater behind the library)... so I went inside to ask to use a phone to call my AAA. The young lady at the front desk was willing to help me and even dialed the number when her manager ROBIN came wobbling over and told her to hang up the phone .... MIDCALL....... And told me i cannot use the phone. I explained my situation and how i just work across the way... She told me I cannot use the library phone...so i asked can i use her cell phone and she refused.... She then told me "Why dont you walk to the movie theater and use their phone"........ I thought that was rude as a manager in front of her employees.... And just plain mean as a human !!! So long story short.... A lady who was standing a bit away oberheard the entire situation and offered me her cell to call AAA which i was so grateful for.... As for Robin ..... I believe in Karma... And what goes around comes around . you were rude and unprofessional and u put your employee (the lady who helped dial the #) in an akward situation when she was doing the right thing as a human being!!!!!!!! read more

Usually I'm a huge fan of librarys and have used them weekley no matter where I lived. This time around in the HD we have 3 locations of the San Bernadino Library system and I have to say all of them let me down a bit. For starters no free movie rentals, they start off at $1 a day which to me is a rip off, you can get that at Redbox or anywhere else. Librarys are supposed to give you that organic, natural, simple life feeling. Whipping out a credit card here just does not fit that perfect library image in my head. Also no videogames which was pretty awesome about living in Columbus and saved my son alot of money to be able to play a game for awhile and bring it back since kids get tired of stuff fast. They do have magazines to lend out which is a plus and the service and hours are great. Now if they could be faster about checking stuff out and more efficient about checking stuff in. I have twice now not been able to check anything out due to a $20!!!! late fee that had to be paid first. late fees start at 50 cent a day, also not right, especially since I bring them back on time. I would avoid the San Bernadino Library system if I could but since I love reading for free I'll be back. read more

This library is actually a branch of San Bernardino County Libraries. It is located in the Hesperia city hall plaza surrounded by quiet residential housing. (I almost miss ed this place on driving.) The facility looks new and modern; however, the available materials will be fewer than other older wealthy city libraries'. Free Wi-Fi is available. The speed is good enough to research something. The environment is relatively quiet and nicer. There are also meeting rooms for group work or study. There are kid's sections as well. It is a bit isolated from adult sections. Overall, the location may not be really convenient from Victorville but coming this place may be a good choice if you wish to focus on your work or if your favorite Starbucks are full or uncomfortable in some reasons. read more

I like this Library a lot. The people here have always been very very helpful. This isn't the quietest Library I have been to but it's not exactly amusement park loud either. This is not the kind of library where the librarian shushes you if you sneeze. Unfortunately when younger kids are here and are being disruptive they are here with their parents and their parents really should be mindful of their children's actions and considerate of other Library patrons. read more

for a College Student who can't study at home because of multi-family living conditions, I think it's a tragedy that people who are trying to study are not respected by parents of out of control kids (where is the respect for others taught?) for parents who obviously didn't take advantage of the education in class but rather the education "under the bleachers" smh I'm appalled that my tax dollars are paying librarians to just show up for work and do nothing! I drive 2 hours away to attend a community college, the staff in the college library IS NOT afraid to call out students who are unruly! THAT'S WHAT LIBRARIANS are there for! IF children would learn a respectful fear of that library's library staff there would be a nice place to study, read & enjoy that building! I'm going to give it a go again tomorrow and see if it's any better if not I'm talking to "somebody"! Maybe it will be different now that schools are back in session and kids aren't home all day. It is a nice library. Love the self checkout. However if the machine doesn't work, the staff take forever to help people in line. It's the worst. They also changed how you pick up a reserved book. You used to be able to get it from the reserved section. Now you have to wait in line to tell the staff to get it. I just want to get in and out, not wait forever. read more

I really loved this library, i am new to the area, i come from long beach so i was looking for a library that had a lot of variety for kids, to get my kids comfortable like at the library back in LB. I am a regular library patron and come in at least once a week. I have 4 kids who like to read specific topics/subjects/authors so I always put books on hold for them. In the past you used to be able to look for your books on a shelf and take them over to get checked out. Now you have to stand in line and have the workers get them for you. I've never really had a problem before when Chelsea Lyons was the branch manager. She and all the workers were always nice and willing to help. It seems now everytime I come in to pick up books, there's always a 10-15 minute line and new workers that look like they would rather be elsewhere. Today really hit a nerve for me (that's why I am writing this review). I stood in line for about 15 minutes (it seemed like everyone in front of me was getting library cards for all of their kids). When it was my turn I said I have several books to pick up. So the worker scanned my card and said to me "It looks like you gave several things going on so you can wait for her (the other worker) to help you". (It was time for her to take her lunch.) Then she turns to the line and asked if anyone had a simple check out to do. She ended up helping 3 people before the other worker was done and could help me. I just said whatever. I just wanted to pick up the books and leave. So I went over to the other worker and told her I had books to pick up. She goes in the back room and gets the books. I notice that there was only 1 book for my son so I told her there should be 3 or 4 books. She says "that's all that I saw". If it was one of the old workers (I had never seen her there before) they would have gone back and tried to find the other books. So after she checked out my books I went over to the guy in charge (not sure if he's the new manager, but he was telling people what to do) and told him that I had 3 or 4 books on hold but the worker only got 1 for me. He says that I'll have to get back in line again and have one of the workers look again. He couldn't even check for me. All he was doing was walking around anyway! So I just left. I was not going to wait in line for another 15 minutes! I have been coming here for 4 years now and this library has definitely gone down hill lately. They need better management and the workers need to be friendlier and at least pretend that they like their jobs. read more

WOW came to do my homework here and had a sipper of iced water on a very hot day, not to mention the fact I was feeling sick and some lady with an accent comes up to us and told us we couldn't have them here because they were not secure enough. Needless to say they had a lid and were plastic and you could see there was water in them. I think you guys need to be more worried about the kids running around and making noise than someone that is quiet comes to do homework out of the hot heat...That's the county for you read more

I second what everyone else says about kids running wild and no one putting an end to it. What a joke! But above that I got charged $10 for each book I returned late! Really?! What kind of library charges $10 per book? They were 3 weeks late, not 3 years! I've never paid more than a couple dollars per book in late fees at other libraries! While I was looking through the non-fiction section, a disturbed elderly woman (talked to herself in whispers) who worked there insisted on following me around and watching my every move. This individual had absolutely no basis for doing so and before I completely blew a fuse, I decided to leave. read more

I'm not surprised they score low. I agree with the college student who can't study at home. I've tried to get staff deal with the noise level and they brush it off. If you need to concentrate, you have to hope for a private meeting room to open up for an hour, because meetings are help in the common areas, just ridiculous. read more

This is the worst library I have ever been to. It is incredibly noisy and the librarians do nothing to control the level of noise. Children are running around screaming and crying and parents allow it! This is supposed to be a library and it's more like a playground. AND the staff is rude! I forgot my library card and was desperate for a quiet place to study for my teaching exams and the staff ridiculed me for being "irresponsible."
