This is a big and beautiful convenient library with lovely staff and a safe and quiet ambiance. First and foremost, I want to thank the ladies inside at the information and help desk who were so kind, silent and solid, patient and had a great sense of humor. They assisted me with getting my official library card and went the extra mile in getting me a Cantonese language guide that was not on the shelf or checked out. It took them just 4 minutes to go in the bank and locate it. The library is clean and has a lot of sunlight coming in. They have a good variety of books. The patrons at this location seemed respectful and followed the rules. Loved the little Friends of the Library bookstore to the left upon entry that sells vinyls, DVDs and books to support the library. Love the indoor and outdoor parking. Love that the Starbucks is within walking distance as are some lovely restaurants and stores in Victoria Gardens. Loved this Library!!!!! read more

This is a great library with easy safe parking and nice facilities. I only get to visit a couple of times a year (my barber is in Rancho so since I have to drive up usually for afternoon appts I hit the library to let the crazy freeway traffic die down before heading back down to Orange County) but think the study rooms and kiosks etc are great places to catch up on work. As a bonus the library complex is right next to Victoria Gardens which has excellent shopping and restaurant options. read more

Huge library, with laptops to check out and work on. Printing is $0.10 per page (sucks). I get it though, prevents wasting paper and ink. There's also a DVD section to check out disc and there are also private study rooms. I believe I saw like 3 or 4 rooms. I thought the rooms were pretty cool, since the library isn't always as quiet as you'd like it to be. Getting a card is pretty simple....just present proof of residency in the city and you'll have a card. read more

The Rancho Cucamonga Public Library at Victoria Gardens is one of those rare places that blends learning, community, and inspiration all in one spot. It's beautifully maintained with bright, modern, and surrounded by the charm of Victoria Gardens, making it the perfect stop before or after a coffee run. They even have a small bookstore inside just before entrance into main library. This is where you can purchase books for a small fee most major credit cards and cash are accepted here so it makes it convenient. I love to come here to find travel books for cheap for scrapbooking my travels. What's also great is that the book store also has postcards too. If you're lucky, you may even find different stationery supplies for purchase as well. Inside, everything feels thoughtfully designed. The seating areas are comfortable, the shelves are always neat, and there's a quiet energy that makes it easy to focus or unwind. The staff here is consistently friendly. The children's section is especially impressive, with fun, creative displays and interactive spaces that make reading exciting for little ones. They also host wonderful community events, story times, and seasonal programs that really bring people together. You can find brochures on events that are up-and-coming inside. Clean, spacious, and the employees are always polite and helpful. I come here primarily to study. Hot study spots, which are very limited, are along the windows closest to the parking structure as they are individual desks and settled by bright natural light. These spots are gone as soon as they open at 1000am. Other desks are available but prepare to ask others to share. It may not be super quiet though if that's what you're looking for because there are a lot kids and families that visit as they have children's activities (eg reading theatre and discovery zone). Also, bring a jacket! Yes, even if it's 100 degrees outside because I am convinced that they try to freeze people out with their over achieving air conditioning. read more

Started coming regularly to the library this summer with my son (5) and daughter (1). I have nothing but good things to say about the book selection, the cleanliness, and the functionality of the space. My children enjoy checking out their books and returning them in the kids bin. There are many picture books, chapter books and easy readers to choose from that fit all different interests. My personal favorite thing was the summer reading program that incentivizes my son to read and got us in the habit of enjoying our family read-alouds. The other great thing is the bookstore where you can find many great books for only $1-$2 on for sale. read more

Lived here forever but rarely visited this branch in the past since I grew up going to the Archibald location, but sadly I hear that branch is closing. Came here on a Saturday afternoon to get some work done and I definitely accomplished that and then some. This location is conveniently located in the middle of the Victoria Gardens outdoor mall, so if you ever get hungry or bored and want to take a break, you have everything right outside the entrance to do that. I forgot what it was like to be inside of a library and honestly this library is pretty neat. There's an area with a big fireplace and plenty of couch seating to read a book or get work done. I'm definitely skipping working from a Starbucks and coming here next time to get work done or get some quiet time to read a book. read more

Last time I checked, libraries were supposed to be quiet, but that's definitely not the case here. Kids are constantly running around and screaming, especially since they added the kids' area in the same building. The study rooms are another issue you only get 2 hours, and even if there aren't any bookings, they still won't let you stay in an empty room. Feels like such a waste. The only good thing is that it's close to my house, but with how noisy it is, I'll be going to the library in the next town over from now on. I do love that there's a library at the mall - helping make the library a more acceptable, even "cool" place to go. :) My kids enjoy checking out books, the occasional storytime (although the days/hours aren't usually convenient for us), and the iPad/computer games. We especially all love the Library of Things, where we can check out everything from board games to kitchen appliances to baby toys to tools. There's no late fees for books or anything! They also offer Link+, so you can get books from allllll over the state (or country?) if their library does not have what you want). I love going online to reserve books, whether from their library or Link+, and they put it on the "hold" shelf for me to easily pick up anytime within a week after they put it there. read more

This is my fav library First: they have a quiet room and it's seriously amazing. It sits off to the side and you really can't hear much of what's going on in the library. Just wish they had more than 4 study tables in there. 2nd: yes, it get noisy at times, but if you get there early enough you can get a good spot in the back. Positives: This is a great library, they have many options for kids to explore books and Lot of Things! Negatives: Few senior workers that tend to the checkout/checkin area just NOT meant to work there, they are not friendly and have a mean streak! When you put something on hold, when it is available for pickup, you don't get an email alert! you have to specifically login to see what is pending for pickup! We held one item that can not be renewed(online) longer than the period, instead of calling us and letting us know(when we visited in person) that it is past due, they sent an email saying "this item is not returned and over due, so we are charging so and so value for the item". Are you kidding, can't you just pickup your phone and call your customer before typing up the email ? read more

One hidden gem at the Biane Library is the PASSPORT SERVICE. You can print out the necessary forms online, fill them out, bring them to your scheduled appointment at the library and be finished with the process in a matter of minutes. The fees vary depending on what you apply for. If you need passport photos, they also offer that service. (Photos are cheaper at Costco.) I had my new passport within a couple if weeks! There are plenty of reasons why this library was recently named one of the 10 winners of the 2013 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. It's a pretty impressive honor, especially when you consider there are 140,000+ museums and libraries in the U.S. The layout of this library is great. At the entrance is the Friends of the Library used bookstore that offers cheap books, magazines, movies, and games; the proceeds benefit the library. There's a tech center with dozens of computers and free Internet access (one-hour time limit for each patron), a teen study center, and a children's library with a terrific storytime theater. The theater doubles as a gathering place for some of the library's adult events; my wife and I attended a presentation on chocolate last year (yes, free samples!), but unfortunately we missed a wine tasting event. There are plenty of tables and study spots throughout the building, five private study rooms, and free wi-fi. Two things that threw me off during my first visit years ago: this library tends to be loud and the actual selection of books is not as extensive as most libraries. Thankfully, there's a quiet reading room with high ceilings, good lighting, and lots of comfortable chairs. I love reading here and I can get some work done too, since they have a few tables designed for one-person use. As for the selection of books, the sister branch on Archibald has a much bigger inventory and can easily ship a book that you'd like to borrow. Both libraries also have plenty of DVDs for rent. I believe that the events that the library hosts are what sets it apart. As mentioned earlier, I've been to a presentation on chocolate, but I've also been to a discussion with Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston, author of Farewell to Manzanar (got a free autographed copy too), and participated in the library's Big Read event for The Great Gatsby. There are different cultural events throughout the year and they offer several book clubs. However, the highlight every year is the library's Star Wars Day. They work with the local Star Wars fan group and put on a terrific event with costumed characters, kid-friendly Star Wars craft-making, and Star Wars vehicles and props. There's also a costume contest for the wee ones. It's usually held during Memorial Day weekend and it's a lot of fun. Finally, kudos to the staff here. They are always friendly and helpful. Last time I checked, this place was designed to be a library. I have been here several times per week for a month now, and I constantly cannot focus because the employees are talking at the top of their vocal levels, babies are crying and nobody is doing anything about it, people are talking on their phones, watching videos (out loud) and children running around like this place is a playground. The employees just simply sit around and continue talking to one another, while it sounds like a chaotic mess in the library. Again, this is supposed to be a library! read more

You don't get much sunlight if you are not sitting in that one small area at the corner. It is a small library with small reading sections. There are so many book titles that they don't carry. Clean and spacious but this is a loud library. As I'm sitting here by the study desks up against the windows (towards the back), I can hear a man and a clerk's entire convo. Staff will also have full-on conversations, laughing, and getting carried away with one another. Also, after 4pm is when the kids come and the whole place is a zoo. If you really need to study, I highly suggest sitting in the reading room or reserve an actual study room. read more

For what it is (i.e., a library branch at a mall), it's just fine. I began my working life at the RCPL back in 1994, and I'm happy to see how far it's come! The old San Bernardino County Public Library on Baseline was a disgrace to bibliophiles everywhere, not to mention its cheap carpet gave generations of patrons static shock when they'd reach for Sue Grafton's latest. The Biane Branch (personally, I have issues with naming places after people who are still among us) provides the community with a clean, bright working space. Came in on Monday afternoon and every study carrel was taken, though the shared tables had space. The place has free WiFi, which is always a double-edged sword. Due to its high-ceiling entrance, noises echo throughout the building. This could annoy those folks who need their library to resemble a morgue. If, however, you need some background white noise to keep you sane, you should be fine. Save for the noise, can't complain. There's a Panda Express within 200 steps. Good job, RC. I love libraries. Call me a "bookworm," call me a "geek." It's all good. I still love libraries. I especially like this library. There are great comfy seats, comfy couches, comfy areas where you can just sit and relax with a good book or magazine. Several reasons it's not a five-star. There are lots of people there that don't know how to be quiet in a library. This happened a lot when this place just opened. Many people came in to check the place out and didn't realize it was a library and that they had to keep their voices down and be more considerate to the people that were actually using the facility. Another reason is that sometimes when looking for a book, they don't have it. More often than not, the book that I thought I would need would not be located at that library, but at their branch libarary on Archibald. That got frustrating fast and decided I wasn't going to use that library for research anymore, just for leisure. It's a nice quiet, air conditioned place to get away from the heat and crowds of the Victoria Gardens mall. read more

I bitched about this library before because they have fees that I'm not used to, coming from a county library system up north. But I have since learned that this library used to be a branch of the SB County system. Then, around 10-15 years ago, the community decided to do a bigass fundraiser so they could fix up the building and buy a bunch of new books. The money was raised and proudly given to the library. Then, the county administration TOOK that money, sent it wherever they felt like it (other branches, I imagine), and said thank you very much. Rancho Cucamonga got Jack Shit out of all that work they did and all that money they raised. So RC decided to go it alone as a city library, and basically had to buy their library back from the county system-- even after sending all that money. So now I guess money is a little tighter, but they do have a LOT of shiney new books at the Biane branch, and a good thing going on Archibald, too. I'm proud of them. And I'm happy to support them. read more

Free wifi, private meeting rooms, and plenty of outlets to power up your laptop. If you need a quiet place to get some work done or a place to have a small meeting, this is a great spot for it. We went here and got a private room (not too private since there was glass all around) for a few hours for no charge. All you need is a library card which is free of course (at least it was for me when I got mine years ago). This is a very nice newer library that is connected to Victoria Gardens so a quick break for some food or coffee is right around the corner. read more

I LOVE this library! I am a behavioral therapist and parent coach, and I have worked closely with several of the libraries staff, (Wess Garcia, Christina Olmeda, and Rina Fernandez), while offering Proactive Parenting classes. I have been so impressed with their consistent professionalism, organization, and reliability...it truly is impeccable. The "Play and Learn Time," is of a quality I have only seen in private clinics. It is very evident that Rina Fernandez has a strong knowledge of Child Development, and a passion for what she does. The city of Rancho Cucamonga is so lucky to have such great resources, that are devoted to helping its' families and community thrive. read more

I love this branch! The WiFi is strong, it's very organized and the librarians will shush the randomly rude people that you are sure to encounter in public spaces. Did I mention the reading room? Large two or three-story windows, desks with individual plugs and lamps, large comfy sofas and even a fireplace for those rare cold Southern California winter days. The location at the top of Victoria Gardens makes day-long study sessions easy with food and coffee nearby to recharge. By far my favorite library to go study or write! read more

As with all tables and seating areas, these desks are available to patrons on a first come, first served basis. Overall, morning hours are less busy in the library, and after school and Saturdays are busier. STUDY AREAS: For a reserved study area, I'd like to mention our study rooms. Returned 3 audio cd. 1 was lost according to the librarian. They gave me 5 weeks to find the lost cd. 5 weeks after, they did not find it. I received a letter saying that I should pay $20 for the CD. I went to the library, talked to the supervisor -and told them I returned all 3 cd's that I borrowed. They checked for the last time but could not find it. Anyway, they waived my fine and removed the block. I love this place since 2010 and I still see myself patronizing this place as I have always been. read more
