I've spent my last dollar with Steve Fischer…read more I've used Fischer's for the last 6 years for deer processing, and always pick up a sack or two of extra meats, cheeses, and spreads when I pick up the finished deer. Always dealt with the courteous younger workers in the past. We drive from Sherman because the product has been good in the past and the drive is not too bad, offering us a chance to reminisce about a hunt on the way in to the processor. Deer hunting for my kids has always had an unspoken goal of driving to Fischer's after the hunt. Last night we brought a doe in at just after 7 PM and I called Steve Fischer - the first name listed on the list of phone numbers to call. I've never met Steve before last night, though I have heard about him. I've never in my life dealt with a more rude or patronizing individual. I sat there and watched him patronize and demean a 14-year-old kid because he obviously didn't want to get off of his azz and come check in this kid's deer. If you don't want to come up after hours, then don't put your name on the sign. I asked him if we were putting him out and that we don't aim to, or make a make a practice of such. After a smart azz and unprofessional response, I instructed my son to put his deer back in the truck and advised Steve we'd just go somewhere else. The relative positive is that I got to talk with my son for an hour about the value of his dollar, businesses who deserve it, and businesses that do not. I've referred a friend to Fischer's about a month ago who described a similar experience dealing with Steve at check-in. You've earned your last dollar from us bud.

This Christmas holiday at moi Ranch nearby, we stopped in & decided to try the Pumpkin Bread as they were out of the sourdough we usually get. We are completely WOWED in love with the Pumpkin bread! I can't believe it took us this long to try the Pumpkin Bread! It's a lovely pumpkin pound cake, lightly sweet bursting with pumpkin flavor. A must try if you enjoy pumpkin pound cake. Everything is made fresh so we waited about 15 minutes while sitting in the dining room with a great view of Lake Bridgeport. Food was delivered and it looked great and smelled good. My fish was crispy, with a cornmeal batter that was seasoned very elk and it tasted GREAT! The shrimp has a panko breading that was crispy and cured my craving for fried shrimp.Tots nice and crispy, maybe just a little too crispy, but they were very good. Large portions for sure. Our appetizer was a jalapeño sausage, wrapped in bacon and topped with melted cheese. Wow! Excellent pop, not too spicy and the flavors melded great together. The cheeseburger was a short rib grind burger patty, thick and full size. Taste was excellent but the firm texture of the short rib meat may surprise you. The star of the burger was the bun; jalapeño bread reminiscent of a Shlotskys sandwich bread but nice and soft. I could eat just an order of those buns. Overall food 5 stars. The dining room a solid 4 stars as it is showing it's age but we will visit again the get of their great, well priced food.

The butcher and market staff are top notch. They know their meats and have amazing quality for not an astronomical price. They are my go-to when I am looking to prepare quality proteins. The bistro is one of the best places to get a meal. Their menu is always changing, but they do keep a few staples. For one, their fried catfish plate is probably one of the best I've ever had (I was born and raised in Arkansas, and I have eaten A LOT of catfish in my life). Frozen Flurry's is a treat in itself. They have a rotating selection of various frozen adult beverages that are really good and just right to take home for your own party. We will get a couple half-gallon jugs to go at least once a month! In all of this, the staff and the ownership are friendly, helpful, and make everyone feel welcome.

This is a game changer :D There are freezers full of delicious frozen offerings, fries, jalepeno taters, fried pickles, etc, and we grabbed a few to try. Also, there is a wall of quite the selection of local honey, jams, etc. BUT the real gem, the raw meat counter was chock-full of incredible cuts and varieties of meats! We decided to try to the cordon bleu chicken and brisket poppers this trip, as well as an 18 pound brisket, YUM! The employees were ready to help with any questions and even handed us a basket when our hands started to get too full. So grateful! I will note for future review readers, there is about a 4% card charge. Apparently there are signs that I missed while I was busy bouncing my eyes from product to product, so I ended up having to call once I got home about why the receipt showed a much high price than the label on the meats. So, the price label on the products is the cash price, totally understandable! In conclusion, Wise Choice exceeded our expectations on meat selection, and they even have Diet Dr Pepper and Topo Chico (I didn't have to run to Walmart for sodas! Woohoo!). Thanks team!!
