I'm having issues now with severe overactive bladder due to cancer treatments including radiation. Dr. Janoff sat and listened to me looking for a solution not just jumping into surgery. The clinic is beautiful and clean. The girls behind the counter very friendly. Everyone I came in contact with has been nothing but great. Looking forward to a lasting relationship here. I'd recommend Dr. Janoff especially if you're like me and have issues that need specific attention to. As of today January 20th, 2026 they are taking new patients

She wanted another opinion. Dr. Shaffer was optimistic and recommended removing the stone immediately to give the kidney a chance to come back. The ureter was scarred, and prevented removal of the stone from below. My mother was awakened and asked if she wanted to go to Radiology, where they would try to reach the stone from above. Due to the anesthesia she has no recollection of this conversation. The stone was also not reachable from above, and the doctor made the decision to drain the kidney with a nephrostomy tube. The kidney did not regain functionality, and now the only option is to remove the kidney. This procedure can cost anywhere from $35 - $70 thousand dollars. It was never explained to my mother that once the kidney had been penetrated, it was a point of no return. At the very 1st appointment, if Dr. Shaffer had said that the likelihood of the kidney regaining functionality was extremely low, OR if he had not asked her to make a major medical decision while under anesthesia, she would not be in this situation now. My mother was upset by the outcome, and Dr. Shaffer was very difficult to talk to. He was impatient and angry, and expressed no compassion or regret. Dr. Shaffer is in no way affected by any of this, and my mother now has to face a life changing surgery (financially), and the possibility of surgery overseas.

Last year, in 2013, I got very sick and went to St. Vincent's ER three times in one week. The last…read moretime someone thought to do an ultrasound of my abdomen and it appeared I had a large abscess. Dr. Ali Khaki was my surgeon and did an OK job. I healed. Then, this year just before Thanksgiving, (about a year later) I developed another abscess in the same place. Dr. Khaki did the job, and I'm healing. At my last visit with him, I asked why the abscesses developed and then, after treatment, came back. I also asked him what we could do to prevent another abscess from coming back. He said he didn't know why I developed the first one and had no idea how to prevent another one in the future. I asked about long-term antibiotics and he said he was against them. I think I want a second opinion about prevention. Today's visit was awful. My appointment was for 11:00 and since I have new insurance, I was asked to arrive 15 minutes early. As my husband and I sat, the waiting room filled up around us - all chairs were taken. Eventually we were called back into a room. The table is taller than I can get on so I had to use a stool. Big deal, I can live with that. Once on the table, my knee started hurting badly. I took some pain pills and hoped it would subside. I lay on the table until Dr. Khaki came in, at 12:40pm. At that point, he looked at my wound and said, "Keep doing what you're doing and come back in six weeks." Five minutes at most. Yet I had to wait, in pain, for two hours. My back was in spasm when I got off the table. Dr. Khaki is probably a good surgeon. But most doctors have SOMETHING to say about the origin of a medical problem in their specialty, and something to say about prevention. Definitely time for a second opinion.

I'm collecting interest on my balance for every day that it goes unpaid and I also sent a payment to Surgical Associates the day they handed my account off so it wasn't deducted. My attorney referred me to you, and you agreed to assess the condition of my hand and foot for a lawsuit against a company. It gave me hope after 3 years of the pandemic putting my justice on hold. As we began our appointment, I explained right away how severely I am affected by PTSD and dissociative disorder. You asked me how my hand got injured. I told you that my hand was run over by a truck. Your tone was snotty, and you mocked me saying, "So...what, you were just laying on a road..." That really hurt, but I kept my composure and explained that I was riding my bike and a truck cut me off and my hand and foot were run over (and almost my face). You looked at my twisted dominant hand saying Invalidating things like, "well, you can open a jar, right?" and,"You can still use it, right...?" This is when you saw the hurt and hopelessness in my eyes. You were looking right at my very expressive eyes as they welled up with tears. We sat face to face at a maximum 4 feet from each other, so don't say you didn't notice. You were persistent and cold. I wondered how I may have wronged you, to be treated like this by you. You continued to interrupt me when I spoke, rudely making up your own narratives instead of just listening to me. You asked me what I hoped to get out of this appointment. I answered that I was just there because my attorney had sent me to assess the condition of my hand and foot. I kept calm as you did not accept my answer, asking again. I told you I needed a moment. I had a mask on, so you could only see my eyes welling up with tears. I was trying so hard not to cry, but as your voice kept becoming more and more assertive and your volume got higher, I felt bullied. I was literally too choked up to answer and could not speak and tried to make hand gestures to ask for a moment. Instead of acknowledging the tears that were just about to spill out, or responding with any kindness, you yelled at me, "So... YOU'RE JUST NOT GOING TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER?!" I hope you remember badgering me until I broke down in tears. I forced out the words, "It's really hard to answer you when I'm so choked up because you are being so mean to me." How you could remain so cold at this point is incomprehensible. I am a kind person who rarely loses my cool, but I could take no more. Your cruelty triggered a PTSD episode so severe that I stood up, defensively yelling how absolutely inappropriate you were being and gathered my things up to leave. While I had my back turned to get my backpack, I heard you mutter "I'm sorry." but it was only words because when I turned around to look, you were void and it was completely apparent that you did not mean your apology. I left and saw your colleagues with their jaws dropped as I stopped to tell them all how completely inappropriate you were. As I left your office, I had a complete breakdown and called a friend who picked me up outside the office. She said I was in a fetal position on the cement, hiding behind my bike. You made a horribly traumatic situation even worse. My experience with you was awful and surreal. I have trouble comprehending why you were so disrespectful, mocking, cold, and mean to me. Kindness. It doesn't cost a thing. Please have compassion with your future patients. You never know what someone has been through.
