Lovely setting. Helpful staff. Food is what is expected so heavy on meats but good quality and tasty. Good gemischte wine.

Compared to all other heurigers I've been to in Vienna, Heuriger Wieninger offers not only a better tasting but also a superior quality food than most of its local competitors. I tasted many dishes and here are the highlights: - Cured ham, fig and balsamic salad - very tasty, which is expected from such dead ringers like the three above. I loved this dish especially in a combination with the tomato salad. - Baked sheep cheese wrapped in cured ham - also very good. Great combination as a stand alone appetizer and goes perfectly with wine (both red and white) on a sunny afternoon. - (Cheese) Spreads - I tasted four different cheese spreads: ham and horseradish; swiss cheese and pumpkin seed; wild garlic and spicy liptauer. All were excellent and should be consumed with an excellent variety of local breads. - Baked meat crepe - excellent. A savory crepe filled with finely minced meat, topped with an egg and cream mixture and baked in the oven. - Tomato salad - excellent. Made with different tomato varieties, which provides a variety of textures and tastes. Seasoned perfectly. - Chocolate crepes - this dish would have worked a lot better if they used a higher quality chocolate and melted it themselves instead what seemed to be a chocolate sauce. All said and done, it was another solid dish that kids of every age would enjoy. This is a heuriger that I look forward to visiting because of the food and not the view. This Heuriger is a bit further out of the town, but the quality of the wind and food makes it well worth the travel. It has a nice garden like a Heuriger should have. For eating you have the choice between choosing from a buffet of ordering some a la carte dishes. We ordered a few dishes for the table and mixed it up with some food from the buffet. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. The wine is equally amazing. Make sure you try the Gemischter Satz wich is an old Viennoise type of wine. Perfect for summer. read more

If you dont know Heurigens, look it up. Its a winery and restaurant. There are many, Wieninger is a classic style one.Both a la carte, and a service buffet restaurant. I say service because you pick the items you want from the hot and cold stations and you pay cash, then you sit,eat and a waitress serves beverages and dessert. Their wine selection is good with standard varieties,and house blends like the one we had,a dry white, light and floral. She had the sliced pork loin, I the pork schnitzles. She had a pumpkin filled strudel,I the potatoes with (kase) cheese casserole. Salads of cabbage, a salad of proscuitto melon and figs, a chopped salad w/ egg and veggies. We had a litre of wine,and split their fantastic warm apricot dumplings(2),stuffed w/apricot on a bed of appricot compote, served w/ an amaretto ice cream, mit schlag(wcream) garnished w/gooseberries & chopped pistashio,wow! $60 euro, not bad. This place is on a mixed residential street with other restaurants just like it, but with out the wine biz. It was a nice Austrian comfort food meal,only drawback was a 20 min taxi each way to zone 3,which was about 50 euro. read more
