A SLIGHT return to form as far as some of the accessory and retro selection goes, sadly the owner has blocked me on social media therefore i cant shop through their instagram or facebook. you can still call and get assistance but it's better to go in person so someones not getting into a bidding war online with you if you aren't able to make it in the store that day. usually does amazing deals on 2000s (xbox/ps2) retro, with gamecube being the outlier with $40 $60 pricing, but any 80s-90s classics or new gen (series/ps5) will cost you MSRP basically which makes sense for ps5 especially if they are making money on sales and not trade ins. Shovelware is always pushed and usually added to console deals to make spending the couple hundred bucks on old hardware. Those game bundle deals always come through and usually i'm able to find good games i didn't get to play. Still doesnt make me want to shill and act as if they are doing a grand service by letting 10 year old software go at a discount when ebay bids can still be used to price hey bro out of what they are offering. So yea i appreciate my hey bro as a game store but from ebay and the random shops that pop up in traders village every other year or so, this place is only for people who need a storefront to walk into because of online shopping fear, or people who shop at dkoldies for themselves and want to show someone a true game store experience when traders village is open. Still much appreciation and gratitude toward mousa and team, i've built a steady back catalog and copped some awesome comics outside of my negative experiences. So far, I have had nothing but great experiences during my visits to Hey Bro, the service is excellent, all employees are incredible and helpful, and they have one of the most impressive selections of games that I have seen. All consoles being sold as refurbished seem to be well cleaned, in fact I've seen them cleaning consoles up at the front. Everyone is knowledgeable, and is ready to help. My only complaint would be that the mark up on some of their collection is definitely more than I'm willing to pay for a product. In my opinion the quality is all there, in fact they let you test out every game before purchase, but some of the prices are hard to swallow. However, they are willing to negotiate prices on some of their collection, which was very welcome. I have not had any experience trading in anything at all, so I cant speak to the quality of the offers they make, but to sum everything up its at least worth going in to marvel at their amazing collection of retro game memorabilia, and to talk with the employees about the history behind it all. read more

Walked in here with my wife to browse and check out the prices, as we are in the market for a Nintendo 64 for our collection. We were both shocked and disgusted at the prices. The selection may be huge, but the astronomically high prices are inexcusable. Some of the historic, non popular garbage, the prices there were equally insane. PS1 games you can grab for $3-$5 anywhere else were past the $10 or $15 mark. GameCube prices were insane, as if you were to buy a collector set with the original box on eBay. I could type paragraph upon paragraphs about how insanely stupid high the prices are here for every single game category. I really wanted to make a purchase, but I absolutely refuse to support any kind of place that price gouges for an already dying out market with how newer TVs don't support these older games, plus having many remasters and HD cloud releases. You'd think with all of that in mind that they'd lower the prices. Even the original Gameboy was over priced, crappy N64 sports games, stuff that's FREE in HD from Nintendo... it's insanity. They definitely want to make a sale, but the prices just don't justify the means. Some of the cases didn't have original artwork but featured the price tag of a collectible condition item. It just makes no sense in this market. There are plenty of other retro stores around Houston that do not come remotely close to the prices there guys have, and that's with complete cases. read more

I understand that these are retro games, but lord some of the prices on these games and consoles were absurd. Even worse the dude I sold my controllers to, legit lowballed me. He asked for 10 dollars for ps5 controllers then later goes on instagram to buy used ones for 20 bucks that's insane. Service was wonderful. The owners wife was kind and attentive to everyone. The younger woman in the shop was very timid but kind as well we had a great conversation. That and the huge collection are why they are getting those stars. The reason theyre not getting more. Is the over pricing double if not triple market. The older woman telling me she priced at market using tcgplayer to which she quoted me 65$ but would knock off $5 i then used tcg for the same cards and using exact market got a little under $34 dollars explained what i saw asked if she would show me what she saw so that I wouldnt undersell her or over pay. She said "no thats alright im only doing the prices on the back of these cards" which as you see is double market. I said no wasted a pretty big amount of time waiting for her to "research" the cards on tcg and doing it again myself. I know the shop looks like gamestop but i didnt expect it to be pricee higher than a game stop. Wish the prices were better as I love supporting local sellers but wow. This was a huge shame. Selection is very mid, and they price all of their used product as refurbished product. It's just not worth the drive or money to buy from here. Service is also very weird. Just as shocked at those prices. $65 for Zelda BOTW. Brand new it costs $39.99-$49.99 at any other major retailer. Mind you....$65 for a used Zelda BOTW. Right now its $39 at Target. Asked about some Switch Controllers and got another shocking price...$70 for two used controllers. I probably wont return with those inflated prices. I understand they have a business to run but major mark up is not a good tactic. I would do your research before buying any console game. Overpriced retro video games. They only accept cash which is an inconvenience and the prices are insane! A game that would cost $10 on eBay with warranty costs $20 at this shop. Controllers that cost $30 with warranty on eBay cost $55 as is. Save your money and go elsewhere for your retro needs. eBay and Amazon are superior alternatives. I've seen a lot of people on the reviews talking about the pricing on retro games. I personally am not a retro gamer collector because I personally would just get one the systems or hard drives that have a collection of games ready to go rather than a hard physical version. That being said , I play on Xbox one and they have plenty of deals whether it be $5 a game or 3 games for $20 whether it be ps4 or Xbox one - either way their cost and price for more or less up to date games are by far cheaper than local competition. They've had some very popular games that are some what out dated but are still very highly rated games and they are letting them go for around $5-7 a piece. I can't speak on the retro aspect of games but i you want to build a collection of games for more modern generation consoles they are definitely worth a look. read more

BOTH WERE ON SALE (Lite was $160, V2 was $209). Both were in like-new condition AND came with all of the OG accessories. Let me know where you can get all of that. This place is a joke. They are all over multiple selling websites so I decided to go by and try and purchase a used Xbox One S since my burnt out. The first gentleman I spoke with had me sold. Xbox One S 1TB With modern warfare. Then it got switched to 500gb when I acted like I didn't know the difference and then I asked to switch controllers with one of the multiples they had and he said No. that's usually fine to me but don't try and keep my business when you see I'm leaving by offering the same thing you had just told me no for. Do not, I repeat, do not support this video game store business model. They spam the heck out of selling apps with overpriced retro games. But I still looked forward to going to Traders Village to see if they're good for the retrogaming hobby, as it turns out they're the complete opposite. I walked in and saw tons of rare games such as a loose Snow Bros for the NES (~$200), and a boxed Mega Man V. I was pleased with what I initially saw, I then looked at their Super Nintendo games and none of the games had price stickers on them and upon requesting prices on things they told me the prices were two to three, and four times the average price according to completed listings on pricecharting.com. I asked, "How much for Mega Man X2?" An employee said "$200". I quickly replied, "Wow, I could probably get three copies online for that much money." He rudely replied, "Well tell me where cause I'd love to know." And then thereafter looked up the price on pricecharting.com and saw that I wasn't really exaggerating. They then told me that the prices were super high because they were either the store owner's personal copies or they wanted to complete they games with boxes and manuals so that they could price gouge us collectors even further. I then asked an employee who do I speak to about trading and brought in a few copies of highly priced games just for them to hopefully play ball with me. They passed me to one employee who said that he cannot make those kinds of choices and must call the boss. One of my most hated pet peeves. So the boss talks to me on the phone like he'll be fair, and I understood he has to run a business but they treated me like shit. My Zen Intergalactic Ninja cartridge is in like new condition and they were saying it looked fake, the employee pulled out a screwdriver and contacted my game and then said, "Oops! Do you mind if I open this up?" I said "I'm glad you asked, sure." Then him and the boss were chattering about how it "looked fake". I said, "drop that f-word "fake". They looked up my Zen, Vice Project Doom, and complete in box Blades of Vengeance and acknowledged the high prices. The owner acted as if he would treat me decently then gave the employee super lowball numbers of $30 for Zen ($65-80), $10 for Vice (~$40), and $40 for CIB Blades of Vengeance (~$95). I laughed, then looked at a few more things for snes that were massively price gouged before leaving in disbelief. They are horrible for this hobby, they resell, show off, are under skilled for the job and don't know anything about the things other than price gouging, they are extremely rude and insulting on their offers. Do not support this business, I've been to some crappy brick-and-mortar games store but Hey Bro takes the cake by a mile.
