About a year ago, we hired L7 Renovation/Fred for flooring, doors, trim, and baseboard installation…read moreduring our home renovation. As first-time homeowners, we trusted that the work would be completed correctly, especially after specifically asking whether they had experience installing click-lock LVP flooring and whether the manufacturer installation instructions would be followed. Unfortunately, the project turned into a very costly mistake. Much of the flooring was installed incorrectly, the required moisture barrier beneath the LVP was never installed, several doors and frames were hung crooked, and portions of the trim and baseboards ultimately had to be replaced and redone. After we raised our concerns and asked that the downstairs issues be corrected before moving forward, Fred left the job unfinished without notice. We ultimately had to hire another contractor to inspect and redo a large portion of the work. The flooring had to be completely removed, the subfloor required additional leveling, and new materials had to be purchased. We attempted mediation, but the matter ultimately went to court. After reviewing the evidence, including photos and testimony, the judge awarded us the majority of our money back. During the trial, Fred argued that "all contractors have different styles." In our experience, following manufacturer installation requirements and completing work properly are not matters of style--they are matters of workmanship and professionalism. Rasin came in and immediately put me at ease - offering his expert advice but ultimately making sure I got what I wanted. We exchanged renderings and notes for one day and that was the extent of the design process. Installation was quick and simple and it was exactly what I wanted!
