A few…read moremonths ago, our water heater failed, and we thought,, well, this is an inconvenience, but at least it's under warranty. Then, in my opinion, the scam Payless runs was clear. They highlight the warranty during the sale, but they don't tell you the warranty is between Payless and the water heater company, it's not between you and the water heater company. It's in THEIR best interest if the water heater fails. They get the new heater under the warranty, and then charge a significant amount to install the new one, at, essentially the same cost as an entirely new system. I asked if they could drop off the new heater and we would have it installed by a different plumber, for a SIGNIFICANT amount less, and the answer was no. I pushed back on the cost, and they agreed to drop the install fee by $300 (give or take) if we didn't get the required permit. Do NOT purchase a water heater from this company. It is their best interest if it fails. They make 'free' money. Incredibly disappointing.

After 11 years of faultless service my Navien NPE-240A tankless water heater threw an error code…read moreand needed emergency service. The installer was unavailable to evaluate it today so I put it out for the Yelp Pros which is how I got in touch with Payless. Michael int the office reached out to me promptly. Gave me the service fee up front and said they could have a tech present between 10-12 today. Joseph was at my house at exactly 11:00am and went right to work. With the help of a factory tech at Navien, Joseph was able to quickly diagnose and correct the problem associated with that code and didn't require an new parts to make that happen. As I am not a professional, I would have taken Joseph's direction if he had wanted to up-sell me, but he did NOT exploit that opportunity. His honesty, competence and desire to invest in repeat business overrode the pure profit motive and that will serve both he and his company very well. I would not hesitate to contact them again should I need any further service in the future. It's rare to find such honesty in the trades these days.

They take their time to diagnose what issues you may be having with your water heater and they're sooo patient in explaining it to you. They were detailed in their explanation, respectful of the work space, and thorough in the clean up afterwards. They also explain all of the options you can have in terms of repair and/or replacement, financing or not financing -- without any pressure to go either route. We've decided to go with a full replacement of our water heater, which we confidently feel that they will do a great job on. Will come back with an update on how the installation goes after it is completed! **UPDATE** Derrick did an amazing job on the installation of our new tankless water heater! He helped me download the app afterwards and took the time to explain how I could control the temp through the app. I wanted to wait for about a week before I updated my review, just to make sure everything was running smoothly. And we haven't had a single problem since! And I will never take hot water for granted ever again. Thank you, Payless and all of your great techs that helped me with my water heater.
