Spicy tuna and salmon rolls were tasty and not very expensive. The place looks like a dive but the sushi guy knows what he's doing!

My steak teriyaki was tasteless. No teriyaki sauce at all. Everything was blah. Won't be going back.

I really like this place. I always get the teriyaki shrimp and chicken, it comes with rice and vegetables and is really good cheap hibachi.

It's the kind of place where you can actually enjoy your meal without feeling rushed or crowded. The food is where this place really stands out. Every roll we ordered came out looking incredible and tasting even better. You can tell immediately that everything is made fresh. The textures were perfect, crispy tempura paired with soft rice and high-quality fish, and the sauces were balanced instead of overpowering. The specialty rolls are clearly the highlight. The Red Dragon Roll and Lobster Shrimp Lover Roll were loaded, flavorful, and worth every dollar. The portions are generous too, you're not getting skimpy rolls here. Each plate came out beautifully presented, and the flavors hit exactly how you want sushi to hit, rich, clean, and satisfying without feeling heavy. Service was solid as well. Friendly, attentive, and efficient without hovering. Drinks stayed filled, food came out at a good pace, and everything felt smooth. For the price point, this place punches above its weight. You're getting quality sushi that rivals spots in much bigger cities, without the inflated cost or attitude. Overall, this is easily one of the best sushi spots in the Roanoke area. Whether you're going for a casual dinner or trying to impress someone, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend.

I do find it odd that they bring you water in a bottle from WalMart, but maybe they have water issues. My wife ordered the Yakisoba and it was good. I had sushi and while not the best I have ever had, it was acceptable. I do think that $50 for lunch for two people is extreme.

The theatrics at the grill are well-executed without veering into gimmick territory, and the chefs clearly know their way around a teppanyaki surface. The steak deserves mention. Properly seasoned and cooked to order, it holds up against pricier competitors. The fried rice is a quiet standout - better than it needs to be, which says something about the kitchen's attention to detail even on the basics. Where Ichiban earns its reputation is in the overall package. Communal grill seating creates an energy that's difficult to manufacture, and on a good night the atmosphere genuinely elevates the meal. Service is functional rather than polished, which feels appropriate for the format. The pricing reflects the experience rather than purely the food, and that's a fair trade for most diners. Walk-ins are acc lodated, making it an accessible option without une friction of advance planning. Not a destination for the serious gastronome, but an honest, well-run restaurant that delivers what it promises.

The lady who works there is the BEST! We love her and her excellent care for our order and just being an awesome individual. Have your child say hello to her and get a dumdum sucker or two... My only complaint is the crab rangoon. I prefer them made in a different way and with a larger portion of sauce. Duck sauce is not nearly as good as sweet and sour sauce. But, I still order them every time. You should definitely check this place out and I recommend the beef and shrimp hibachi and the sweet carrots. I also enjoy their vegetable order, spring rolls, and their scallop and shrimp hibachi. You will enjoy!

The kitchen is in the back but they have a transparent wall between them and the dining room so you can see them cook the food if you are positioned correctly. The sushi rolls were pretty great with the Naru roll being the fan favorite. The roll had crab, shrimp, and avocado deep fried with sauce on top - whats not to love! The Dragon Girl Sushi Roll had baked spicy crab and shrimp topped with banana and honey wasabi which was strange but enjoyed by my friend who likes banana more that I. The chicken hibachi was pretty decent - cooked well with great flavor and a large portion too! I have never had sweet carrots such as these but they did not disappoint - I will be looking up how to make these now because veggies that taste like dessert is a win for me. The side order of soba noodles is were plentiful and delicious! I docked a star for the state of the bathroom...the sink has rust stains streaking down the faucet and the paper towel dispenser was so hard to crank it physically hurt my hand so I wiped my hands on my shirt and left... Overall, the food and service is great but the bathroom could use some work.

The food cooking on the grill has smelt very good and looked very appetizing, but I specifically have gone to the Mall for an errand or needing to purchase something like sneakers, a belt, or a new wallet on sale to replace an old one falling apart. Today, I went with enough time to visit and dine in this restaurant located in the Food Court of the Mall, but with its own dining area inside the restaurant. The place looked very clean, with a beautiful sign lit from behind with light blue glow. I friendly young lady employee who was earlier talking Spanish with the cook took my order. I ordered a Beef and Shrimp Hibachi. As soon as the order was made the cook started cooking the beef on the grill on the right and another lady cook started cooking the rice and vegetables on the grill on the left. When it was ready they handed it to me over the counter and I went and sat at one of the tables inside the restaurant. The food looked good. The beef was sliced in thin slices so it absorbed the seasoning well. However, I don't know if it was because of this, I found it way much too salty. The shrimps were well peeled and nicely cooked on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The vegetables were not many but we're under all the rice and meat. In conclusion, I enjoyed the food but next time will make sure to let them know not to make it too salty.
