The new location for the Waxhaw Farmers' Market has been graciously donated by Bill and Holly Stewart of Stewarts' Village Gallery for the Market to use. The Stewart's say "they are looking forward to the new season with our new neighbors". The market runs from April through November and serves the citizens of Waxhaw, Weddington, Marvin and the surrounding communities. Customers come from Charlotte for many of the unique and delicious items available. The hours will remain the same, from 9 am till 1 pm on Saturdays and on Tuesdays from 3 pm to 6 pm. The market features naturally grown local produce, cut flowers, vegetable and flower plants, goat cheese, fresh farm eggs, herbs, local honey, fresh baked bread, cakes, cookies, muffins, granola bars, homemade dog treats, homemade goat milk soap, and so much more! With the exception of the flower people (they rarely last more than 5 days), all items have been wonderful. Produce prices can't be beat, and much of the food is wonderful. I'm partial to Heavenly Muffins (she's a neighbor of mine), but that aside they truly are deliciously 'Heavenly.' Support your local farmers, bakers, small business owners...go to the Waxhaw Farmers Market!

Since I made a trip to Sally's Apizza in Connecticut, my reference for pizza has shifted from Neapolitan-style pies to that slightly charred, thin crust pizza that has this incredible crisp, yet chewy crust. My Siano's pizza crust was maybe 1/8 inch thick under the toppings yet the underside was crispy and slightly chewy, and well done. The pepperoni, the homemade meatballs, sauce and cheese blend made music on my tastebuds while the amalgam of texture invited me to each next bite. I ordered my pizza as a pick-up with a phone call, and in the 15+ minutes it took me to drive through Marvin and Waxhaw passing through horse farms, the pizza was finished right on top. I slightly lifted the lid on the box to vent any steam and maintain the pizza's texture. When I lifted the lid once I arrived home, I was greeted by a work of art. Well done Siano's!

On the cheese sticks there was so little cheese there were large spaces of dough only. The bread was hard and too thin. It was like eating hard crackers with large spots of absolutely zero cheese. The pizza was ordered with extra cheese. It came like regular cheese and was disappointing to pay $5 extra for cheese that looked like the regular amount. We ordered a large and it was truly a large which was nice. The meatballs were good.

I've been four times. The best burger I've tried yet is the Butcher's Burger. If you're looking for a burger with a smoky flavor, uplifted by the richness of the pork belly and seared onions... I haven't found better yet in the city. CB&BG is home to the best side dish in the city so far. Fried Okra. A dish I am beyond familiar, but rather familial with being from Oklahoma. I've had it countless times. I have not only never seen it prepared like this, but I have never had better. Forget the traditional fried okra chips or medallions you're used to. They tempura fry the whole dang thing. Get yourself some ranch and enjoy. The indoor atmospere is clean, sleek, and fun whenever they have live sports on TV or live bands in house. They also have the biergarten area outside in the back with a nice view.

We sat outside. & enjoyed mid 50's temps with the gas heaters going. We had a brat, chicken nuggets, cheese burger, chili cheese fries & salad with chicken breast. The menu said it was as 'lettuce' and when I asked the order guy if it was 'Iceberg' he said 'yes' I asked he hold the onions. I got NO iceberg AND I got the onions. Kinda disappointed, I didn't think it was the happiest d of an order.

However, once we got inside it was a different story all together. There were two people working behind the counter who seemed friendly enough, but their knowledge of their wares was slim to none. As a chef, I asked them a few questions about the cuts of meat, the fish, and their selection of forcemeats, etc, and they were clueless. The fish in the counter had cloudy eyes, and looked very shiny/slimy, so you could tell it had been sitting there a while, Nonetheless, we purchased a couple of ribeyes and some sausages, both in casings and bulk. When we got home, as I was putting the sausages in the fridge, I noticed a peculiar smell coming from the sausages. I opened the package and all of it smelled like old fish. DISGUSTING! I didn't even bother with the steaks, all of it went into the garbage! I had hoped for a local butcher with good quality meats, cut on site, with quality, knowledgeable staff. Well, this is definitely not it. Definitely not recommended! Do yourself a favor, if you want a "decent" cut of meat at a quarter of the price, go to the grocery store, you will get a much better and safer product!
