We came here dinner prior to a piece of theatre we were seeing. Hadn't been here or Sydney Theatre before so was surprised to see its actually attached to the Sydney Theatre so you can walk straight through, pick up your tickets then head to the Bistro for a bite. I'd book beforehand, as it's packed on theatre nights.
Service was middling - nothing faulty, just not exceptional - however food was excellent. My partner had the salt crusted fennel salmon and loved it and I had a 12hr slow cooked beef rib. I thought I might still be hungry if I only ordered one beef rib (we ordered a side of fries and an entrée of flash fried prawns) but it was very filling.
So it all sounds good by now, and we were impressed with the food (plus a nice bottle of Innocent Bystander Pinot Gris), but the impressive part is yet to come. On the wall we saw a chalk suggestion that you could pre-order dessert and coffee for interval. So we tried it. It is the most civilised thing I've done and seen done by a restaurant ever.
You pay for it, then come down t interval and dessert and coffee is just waiting for you in the seats you were sitting at when you had dinner. Fantastic. Sit down, eat and back in time for close of interval. Highly recommend this, plus the dessert was a huge mouse on a bed of brownie and raspberries FTW. read more
