I cannot say enough good things about this charming little oasis out in the high desert of So Calif. Eleven wonderful and eclectic themed trailers, a swimming pool, hot tub, miniature golf, ping pong, bows and arrows and BB guns, the list goes on. (My favorite trailer is the Sideshow, based on a late 1800s circus train and the term "macabre" doesn't do it justice.) If you go, ask to talk with Erica who runs the place and she'll steer you to all the cool things to do, places to eat and drink in town as well. You will just plain LOVE it here!

Review for Hicksville Trailer Palace Rating: Hicksville Trailer Palace is definitely an experience. It's a great spot if you're looking for something unique in the Joshua Tree area, but there are a few things you should know before you head out into the desert. The Arrival & Check-In Getting here can be a bit of a puzzle. If you follow your GPS to the provided address, it will likely take you to Foxy Flats Road. The HTP directions suggest a different route but aren't the clearest. Pro Tip: Drive past Foxy Flats until you hit the stop sign, then take a left on Boarder and another left on La Brisa. If you have a truck or SUV, don't bother going the extra mile. Foxy Flats is bumpy in places but not that bad. Once we arrived around 7:00 PM, the vibe was a little awkward. Check-in is technically 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM, but the innkeeper, Jessica, seemed a bit put out that we didn't arrive earlier. It wasn't the warmest welcome, which set a bit of a rough tone for the start of the trip. The Stay & Maintenance The property itself is showing some age. We ran into a few maintenance hiccups during our stay: Lighting: We had a blown bulb in the bathroom (Jessica did fix this quickly once reported). Plumbing: We had no hot water initially. When we finally figured out how it worked, we found that there were only 2 settings: scalding and freezing. At least it was better than having to use the communal shower and toilet that most guests have to share. Overall Condition: You can tell there's been a general decline in the upkeep of the property and some of the equipment. The Highlights (The "Fun" Factor) Despite the rough start, the "Palace" shines when it comes to activities. It's 21+ and dog-friendly, which makes for a very chill, adult-playground atmosphere. We had a blast exploring the quirky amenities: Activities: Archery, BB guns, shuffleboard, and mini-golf. Games: Ping pong, darts, and a ball pit. Relaxation: A pool, hot tub, fire pits, and a cute little library. Final Verdict Is it worth it? If you want a one-of-a-kind, kitschy desert experience, it's worth staying once. It's fun, quirky, and full of personality, but just go in with managed expectations regarding the service and the "wear and tear" of the grounds.

Third year staying and another fantastic experience. My best friend and I have traveled from Michigan the last three years for our girls trip and stopping here for a couple nights is a highlight for us. The inn keeper is great and very responsive, if there's something needed she's on top of it. Echoing other reviews: it's not a brand new place and therefore there is some wear and tear. If you're not okay with an element of grunge with your quirky, this might not be for you. If you are okay with it, this place is amazing and fun fun fun!

This is exactly as described. It's a perfect getaway to enjoy the stars, mini golf, some archery, pump action bb guns, a relaxing ball pit, 24 hour hot tub, or some mind elevation. I absolutely plan on going back. Things to consider: There is a mile+ of dirt road, but drivablefor a low clearance sedan. No oven, but there is a cast iron dutch oven. So if you've got good cooking skills it shouldn't be a problem. There is a hot plate that runs on 120v and charcoal grills available Towels are provided, but are not as absorbent as I prefer (I'll bring my own next time). It was beyond my expectations.

This place is unlike anything I have ever seen, it is just spectacular. I think I could stay there 20 times and notice more and more intentional details. We brought a group of 20 friends and it was absolutely epic. Rent the place out if you can. But every time I've been, the coolest people have been there. We stayed in the Skipper, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! It's a 5 star experience. Lastly, the staff are just awesome and helpful people. Imagine Four Seasons level of service, only in your own little airstream. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, Erica and Jessica!

I love this place. I stayed in The Lux, which is themed after The Cramps (one of my all time favorite bands!) It looked amazing inside and out. Everything else about Hicksville was great as well. I loved listening to music on the jukebox. Relaxing in the jacuzzi while stargazing was fantastic.

Such a pleasant stay!!! Stayed in the Lux and could not have been happier! Will be back

We only stayed for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in instructions were sent via email and there's a code to unlock the room. The grounds are very pretty, perfect for a desert wedding or party. There are great views all around and there aren't any neighbors nearby. It looks like they own a lot of acreage nearby. The room we stayed in was the Onyx room. It was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There are lots of nice additions in the room to ensure you enjoy staying in from wine glasses, a wine fridge, record player with a record collection, bath salts, star gazing area outside with a mattress, and comfy robes and slippers to use during your stay. If it were warmer, I definitely would've tried out the outdoor tub and shower but it was too cold at night to even think about it. There's also a large community pool in the works. As mentioned earlier, this hotel is about a mile from the NP so it's an excellent choice for anyone going there. It's also not too far from town so you're not too far from stores and cafes. I am definitely planning on staying here again!

Don't worry there is an indoor bathroom as well with an amazing shower. Everything was so well thought out! Each room has a fridge that is stocked up with large bottles of water, k cups, teas, creamers and sugar. They give you plenty of towels. There's also bath salts to use for when you enjoy the outdoor tub. They make sure the check in process is smooth and easy. There's also housekeeping available (free only if you stay 3 nights or more). There is a beautiful common outdoor area with a fire pit, swings and seating. There is also a common area with a large living room that has a microwave. I can't stop singing praises about this place! Sacred Sands absolutely rocked it!

Mojave Sands was perfect for our stay. Only a few rooms on site, pretty secure to get in, easy to get to our room, and large enough to be comfortable for our little family. We were able to set up our Pack and Play in our room and then layout a play area in the living room by the kitchen. I really enjoyed our stay and what I mention next is not bad just tips that I would have liked to have known: We stayed in Suite 1 which was closest to the road and it was tough for baby to take his naps. The rooms have lots of windows but none of the shades fully block the window, again making it hard for him to take naps and, for adults, hard to sleep in when the sun is blistering through the windows at 7am haha (it doesn't matter we're up at 7 anyways), the kitchen was very small, I so wish it had a microwave or an oven. Lastly, the floors are concrete, which I'm sure is appreciated during the summer, but in the winter, even with the heaters on at almost 80 F, I was absolutely freezing when sleeping, i had to wear my slippers and a turtle neck to stop shivering. My husband was fine, but I'm a cold person and I wished I had an extra blanket. Location was great and close to the West entrance and super close to the visitor center and Road Runner cafe (side note, just go to Walmart a little further and get food for the park, Road Runner was expensive and the sandwiches were ok at best). Overall, loved our stay and so glad I booked it!

Assuredly the perfect spot to decompress. We found this place online and the owner was wonderful, over the phone, to book our stay. Everything went exactly as she'd said it would regarding receiving necessary gate codes, etc. We were not disappointed on arrival; this place is spectacularly special. Literally, a hidden oasis that has been thoughtfully, artistically created to provide a very unique zen experience. We loved the secluded, quiet vibe and it was so beautiful. We used the suite and one of the regular rooms. The suite was a two level masterpiece with plenty of seating, a small kitchen and carefully chosen art pieces that elevate the ambiance. It has picture windows that provide a dynamite view and you've got the option to draw blinds for privacy. The beds and linens were so comfortable that my Canadian friend said her husband got the best night sleep here; out of their entire trip to California. My room was perfect. Warm, so comfortable, and with a thoughtful artistic touch. The architectural details of modern, mixing hard and soft with an Asian zen/Americana 50' vibe. The icing on the cake was my golden retriever was also welcome. He thoroughly enjoyed having a safe, enclosed area to chill with his humans. For sure, the next trip to the 29 Palms side of Joshua Tree will include another stay here. Highly recommend here for a very unique, relaxed, pet friendly respite!

Everything and I mean everything was included. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, AND ac!!!! The roof top? BEST FREAKING PART! Watching the sunset was amazing solo time. As well as watching all the stars you never get to see in the city. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Towels were provided, pillows and sheets. I mean these people thought of it all! They are very clear about their instructions and how they want things done upon checkout and it was smooth.. I guess my ONLY "thumbs down" would be the center pool. I personally liked it.. it's a shallow sit down cool down tub and it works for when you just want to dive and sun bathe. Other than that, I have nothing negative to say. I really enjoyed my stay. And if you're someone who doesn't go camping or even glamping, don't stay in a yurt? When it's hot it's HOT when it's cold it's COLD.. it's not rocket science. Choose wisely if you want to enjoy your stay and really unwind. Think Glamping not European Villa…read more With so many glowing reviews on VRBO, I was a bit slack jaw upon arriving at how very un-Villa or 'stunning' this house actually is - It is a shack placed in heaven. My 3 stars here are based on my expectations created by the owner's VRBO and Website description. If you suspect it's going to be worn around the edges like everything else in the desert, you will not be disappointed. I believed what I read. So here I am with an honest review and photos. This house sits on an amazing lot right up against the Butt Crack boulders that Joshua Tree is famous for. You will be met by Dale, the guy in the photos and a very nice and caring man if not a 'little' OCD. He will take you on a 45 minute tour of the house. He will ask which of your party will be the 'light monitor' and he's serious. He will ask who will be doing the dishes because 'it's best to have the same person put them away if they are the one that took them out' - but don't worry if you forget because every cabinet has a photograph of the placement for the well worn pots, silverware, dishes, etc all put away like a surgery tray and you are to keep it that way. The unattractive cramped kitchen is also the main entrance foyer pass through. Dale texted us during our stay about things he forgot to tell us during our orientation, like it's windy cover the jacuzzi, close the doors, watch the snakes. Super helpful of course.. Meanwhile, grumpy neighbor requires that you do not make noise on the west side of the house. Which is where the pool and caves are. So at 4pm Dale fretted over my 6 year old who was laughing while exploring the caves. "he's not listening to what I said" Inside, furniture is pushed in a row against the walls like a house party (or funeral). Oddly, there are only 2 lounge chairs located in the front yard a few feet from the quiet street. But no loungers near the pool nor the drop dead gorgeous rear yard. No hammock. No cushy sofa. Nothing for horizontal chilling out, although we grabbed a pad and laid on the awesome boulders like sunning lizards. Pool impossibly freezing. Jacuzzi great. The only bathroom is tiny and gloomy 'be careful what you flush or you will be charged if we have to call the plumber'. The sheets are older and soaked in fabric softener, there are no extra sets of sheets or blankets. No throws. Pillows are dead. If you like nice bedding, bring them. The scratchy, polyester floral coverlets smell like your old Aunt Martha in Florida. Dale needs to hit Home Goods big time. There are french doors but only 1 window in the entire house that opens (master), so at night when the critters come out or during the frequent winds, you are to 'be sure to close all the doors'. No fresh nighttime air to lull you. The house is in a bowl geographically so no view of the sunset, but climbing makes it worth it. Stay here for the yard, which is so amazing and wonderful you'll be tempted to ignore the house. But I had to write this poopyhead review so others can manage their expectations.

Found this GEM on instagram. There's multiple bubble hotels by the same owner on the lot so make…read moresure you pick the one that fits your needs best ! I was honestly a little bit hesitant because I didn't know how clean it was going to be. But oh my gosh I'm so glad I jumped the gun and went ahead and booked this place because from the moment you step on the lot, it is absolutely breathtaking. The sheets were clean, they provide tons of towels , extra blankets and pillows. The mattress wasn't some cheap air mattress. They provided a memory foam mattress that was really nice and comfortable. It's a perfect getaway if you're in need of some alone time and just want to escape from the city. I think mine was 600 a night or something like that. Theres curtains that closes up your bubble so if you need more privacy than you have that option. But I honestly didn't find a need for it because there was no other houses within walking distance. Plus I wanted the views of the stars at night gazing in. There is a small bathroom connected inside your bubble so you don't have to run outside in the middle of the night if you're scared of the dark. There's also a full bathroom plus shower (with running hot water) right outside of the bubble. But the lighting at the outdoors one is terrible so please be sure to bring extra lighting. It gave me Texas chainsaw massacre vibes showering in the middle of the night out there. On top of that you'll hear little critters chirping away. It gave me the heebie jeebies. There's not a lot of options for food around the area so we brought our own. There's a grill right out front with coal provided for you and also a tiny little hot tub station. Really enjoyed my stay and I'm 100% coming back ! Please note : there is an AC and heater inside the bubble, but no Wi-Fi!!! Please , you're here for a quick escape. No need to be glued to your phone :)
