Amazing Experience! Went in with my daughters for my youngest Quinceanera party hair and makeup. The ladies got to work right away and were amazing. Make up was beautiful and Hollywood waves styling was a work of art. The team was able to get a difficult hair styling just right on three very different hair lengths and hair types. Great place. All the ladies were super friendly and social. I came in because I messed up my hair trying to do an af home dye job. I had a few different ideas of what I wanted it to look like but no clear idea of what exactly I wanted. Luckily Sonia was really patient with me and it came out looking great! PROS : fun, friendly and knowledgeable staff cute (retro/rockabilly) decor musical selections were on point (yes, this is important!) smallish space, but stations are clean/well kept prices are reasonable CONS : metered parking from 8a-6p (on street and lot in back) neighborhood gets a wee bit shady at night (just my opinion!) OVERALL : After a year+ of letting my hair grow AND going about 5 years without dyeing/highlighting (due to a bad reaction to a dye), my waist length hair was looong overdue for a trim! I wanted to find a salon closer to home and found the Hidden Hairpin. Based on the great reviews and a gut feeling, I scheduled an appointment. My first appointment was in February with Sonia. She was super sweet, answered all my questions, addressed my concerns, and most importantly, took her time. When she was done I had 8" cut off and half-moon bangs/fringe - love! It was exactly what I wanted and well worth the 40$ (plus tip). My most recent appointment was yesterday. I needed to get my bangs/fringe professionally trimmed (I'd been doing them myself at home with passable results), and was thinking about doing something "fun" for Spring/Summer. Once again Sonia was super sweet while we discussed how I wanted to change up my hair. 2.5 hours later and my hair looks fabulous! I got blue "peek-a-boo" highlights, added more layers along with a bang trim. Totally worth the 115$ (plus tip) I paid. Having experienced many a bad haircut in my life, I'll admit I was very frightened for my hair's well being. For a month I have seen the welcoming sign out on the street, and I finally decided to go inside. What I found when I entered was a chic hair salon, decorated in a cross between rockabilly and vogue. Everything was girly to the extreme and shouted "I am woman hear me roar." I was happily greeted by a woman I would normally have felt intimidated by, but don't judge a book by it's cover. The beautiful women inside may have full arm tattoos but they do amazing things with scissors. An hour later I left with freshly shampooed hair, a beautiful new haircut, fresh bangs and perfectly styled hair. All this for a very reasonable price. I can't wait till I need a touch up, these ladies I are going to bring chic style back to San Pedro ;) read more

We were recently contacted by Mary Kay out of Texas and informed that they wanted to do a holiday lunch for some of our clients and that 3 of the women would get make-overs so we needed to find a hair salon to help with the make-overs. My regular hair guy waaaay too expensive to visit religiously so I decided to look in my neighborhood for in between spots. I went in for a bang trim and gave strict instructions to follow the previous style. She did a wonderful job! The trim was very similar and she took her time, didn't rush, and even acknowledged the difficulty and fine art of getting bangs "JUST RIGHT." I just want to give a huge thank you to Rikki I was in a desperate need to a color fix I went to Sally's and bought some hair color to dye my roots and it turned my hair yellow! My wife surprised me with a trip to Vegas to see Celine Dion and we were leaving the next day I could not go with Peppermint Patty hair I was freaking out! I called Hidden Hairpin at 10:30am and a very nice woman named Rikki said she was the only one there and was booked but if I could get there in the next 15 min she would take a look and see if she could help me out. So I rush over there and she throws a toner on my hair mixes two different formulas and explains that she can't just throw a toner all over like someone else said they would do. I needed a serious touch-up on my highlights and was able to get an appointment on very short notice with Vanessa. I am very emotionally attached to my hair and only let one person cut it before coming to this salon. I was worried that my hair wouldn't come out the way I wanted, or it would look bad. Thanks to my hairdresser Vanessa, this was not the case at all! Walking into the salon, you're immediately attracted to the artwork on the walls and how cute the setup is. Worst haircut[s] I ever got! My hair was very long and quite frizzy. I had been pulling it into a ponytail, but I wanted it cut shoulder length and feathered back. I checked Yelp for reviews for salons in San Pedro, since I hadn't been to one in several years. This place had high ratings so I called and asked if they cut men's hair. Cindy said they did so made an appointment. I even brought a picture of myself when my hair was shorter and told Cindy that is how I wanted my hair to look. She started by telling me that she didn't think I should go that short and persuaded me that if I didn't like it at that length she would gladly recut it. I reluctantly agreed. Needless to say I had to call back. She was NOT GLAD to hear from me. All of the enthusiasm of my first call was gone, but she made an appointment for me several days later. When I got there she was not very friendly at all. I considered just blowing it off and going somewhere else. But I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She asked me what I didn't like about the haircut as if she HADN'T offer to GLADLY recut it. I told her that is was still too long, it wasn't feathered back and that she cut it almost the same length all around my head. I looked like a Dutch Boy. The 2nd haircut was just a shorter version of the first. Bottom line: She didn't give a s**t! I guess the ladies like this place, or perhaps Hidden Hairpin hired someone to give them good reviews. Regardless, if you're a guy, you probably don't want to go here. read more
