For camping, the sites are off the street and are away from road noise. And they offer sites directly ON the Flat Rock river. Most of the campers stay in RVs, but for tent campers without walls as sound barriers, be prepared for unregulated sites (e.g. multiple tents/cars at a site, golf carts, late night noise, etc). There's always a lot of activity at Hidden Paradise, and many of the sites are reserved by full-timers. The grounds play host to a variety of activities, including live music, karaoke, chili cook-offs, fishing derbies, campsite decorating contests, and more. The facilities include a well-stocked camp store, bathrooms and showers (though limited for the amount of campsites), snack shack, playground and picnic area. Have patience, as it's a very popular destination and the workers are typically doing the jobs of many.

That's our campsite on the river

The employees were nice enough. There aren't grills where you camp and if you tent the electric is as inconvenient as it could be. I loved the area and park. We had an absolute wonderful time. Also, the bathrooms could have been condemned.

A dead fish and people feces

Not even 1 star it was trash it was stinky and there was people feces in the water and the people that work there kept arguing with us on how it was algae and it was not

Today my friend, her family, myself and my family went to enjoy our only day off. We had never been so we were new to the rules. We were addressed 5 separate times about things we were doing wrong, 4/5 time the workers were very rude and spoke to us as if were we toddlers and should have known better, at no point were none of us rude or disrespectful but they were for no reason at all. What topped the icing on the cake was when we were leaving a gentleman addressed my friends husband and told him he was to wear his life vest the entire time, my friend's husband was confused because he never took it off and told the man this but then man did not believe him and continued to speak to him as if he was a lying little child. He said he watched him jump without on on. I was confused but realized that he was most definitely not lying because it was actually my son who took his vest off and jumped. My friends husband handled it very well for a grown man standing there telling him he was lying and he wasn't. I believe if his skin color was the same as the employee the conversation would have went differently. Oh and I told my son it was ok to jump without a vest because all the other kids were so I didn't think it would be a problem. We spent $140 for 2 hrs. We did enjoy ourselves but we will not be going back, the experience was definitely ruined. This place needs to hire better people because no one deserves to be treated like this. Picture added of my son for the worker to realize he was wrong.

    My camp site again

Worst place ever. The old lady that drives the longer golf was the rudest person I've ever dealt with. Our camp site flooded and they acted like they could care less. The old lady said, well that sucks. No what sucks is the fact that you knew that there was a possibility that this area could flood and you rented anyway. You knew that it had happened recently but didn't mention that to us. Everything I brought ended up wet, and I spent the next day drying everything instead of enjoying my camping trip. The office didn't offer the money back on the site and just acted like they didn't care. The staff never checked on any of the campers until tents and campers were in water. There were several sites that flooded and there were people sleeping in their tents and they never came over to them to warn them about the water rising. I will NEVER come back to this place and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Worst camping trip ever!!!

Only got to stay here for a night. Wish we could stay longer; got a creekside site. Spacious sites with fire pit and picnic table. Awesome amenities, plenty to do and fair priced. Only complaint was you could not bring your own firewood and theirs in the gift shop was overpriced and way to green to burn.

    The open area of activites..

It was a very family driven place and there was a lot for everyone. The water area is so good when it's sunny and there's the play area for the kids the shelters for barbecue and picnics and a lot of trails which are pet friendly. The rain dampened our visit but the park in itself was extremely good. DNR facilities were 24/7 they kept a strong vigilance in the camp, which was very comforting. Other than that all service is like fire wood ice was available at short notice.

Whitewater State Park was the 16th state park in Indiana and was founded in 1949. It's actually the third largest. It has 200 acre Whitewater Lake along with shoreline hiking, flat-water boating, swimming, fishing, and camping opportunities. It has 9 miles of horseback riding trails. The park area was originally purchased by Union, Fayette, Franklin, and Wayne counties to serve as a memorial for those lost during World War II. Additional activities include picnic areas with shelters (reservations required), interpretive naturalist services, 1 boat launch ramp at Whitewater Lake, bridle trails, cabins, fishing/ice fishing, hiking trails, canoe/paddleboat/rowboat rentals, swimming, and two marinas. Camping includes 236 electric sites, 45 non-electric, and 37 horsemen's primitive sites. There's a camp store, dumping station, and youth tent area. There are five hiking trails - all are considered moderate in difficulty. They range from 1-2.7 miles in length, though at least one also has a short loop. There really isn't a single trail that I'd say is accessible, though there are parts of trails I was able to access. That said, Whitewater in general isn't particularly wheelchair friendly other than in the more truly "public" areas. As an experienced wheelchair user, I doubt I'd head out on these trails alone. Whitewater hosts a variety of events throughout the year. While I wish it was more accessible here, I still consider this one of Indiana's more underappreciated natural gems.

The hikes are very approachable, even for families with young kids. The trails are well-marked, not overly strenuous, and give you just the right mix of exercise and relaxation. My kids loved exploring the paths, spotting wildlife, and getting the chance to just run and play in a safe outdoor space. It's a wonderful way to introduce children to hiking without overwhelming them. For families, this place is ideal. The trails are wide enough in many areas for strollers, and there are plenty of spots to pause, take in the view, or enjoy a quick snack break together. It's the kind of place where you can spend an hour or the whole afternoon and leave feeling refreshed and reconnected. What I really love is how accessible and welcoming it feels--perfect for both locals and visitors to Madison. Whether you're looking for a short nature walk, a family outing, or a peaceful hike to clear your head, these trails are a gem. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Madison, Indiana--this spot is a true treasure for families, nature lovers, and anyone who just needs a little dose of outdoor beauty.

Throughout the campground, kids were riding electric scooters, and people were driving golf carts recklessly with little regard for others. Ironically, the posted 5 mph speed limit didn't seem to apply to the maintenance staff, who were often driving much faster. There are alot of run down seasonal campsites that gives this place the vibe of a run down trailer park. The biggest issue was the hidden fees and reservation process. The website allows you to select and pay for a specific campsite, giving the impression that it's reserved. However, what they don't tell you is that, if you don't pay an additional $25 "site lock" fee (which was not clearly disclosed during booking), another guest who is willing to pay that fee can take the site you selected. I've never encountered a campground that operates this way, and it's incredibly misleading. Between the poor customer service, lack of cleanliness, unsafe behavior throughout the campground, and unexpected fees, I would not recommend staying here.

I would have liked a 50amp and sewer hookup, but again, I needed to make changes. They offer both RV and tent sites. The tent sites are in their own section, a nice green grassy area! If you decide to stay here, I found that a 30amp will run one of my A/Cs just fine and because of all the shady, I really only needed the one A/C. I did need to have my tanks dumped while I was there. They offer a dump service so I didn't need to move my RV nor even be there. It was a nominal fee compared to the savings from a full hook-up site!
