Nice family run campground. Hosts are very helpful - especially when parking your rig. Bathrooms are always clean. Very family friendly.

A small, friendly campground. We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. The sites a large and as we had a back in we had the view of the lake. You can fish in the lake or take a paddle boat out and just relax. Small play area for children. Sites are very level and that's a real plus. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely come back to this campground.

Our first RV campgrounds after buying our new travel trailer. Not a bad first choice. We selected it first and foremost for it's proximity to the Creation Museum that we we going to visit the next day. Over all has all the basics with full hook up sites. Sites along the water are definitely the best sites. All the others are basically a gravel pad with a tiny strip of grass in between sites. Very little shade along the water with no shade at the other sites. Playground was ok with a couple of small swings, a small slide and a teeter-totter. The teeter-totter was the only thing that held the kids attention mush since they never really played on one before. The little ones liked playing in the plastic house and climbing the stairs to the slide though. The dock and house boat shown in the pictures on their web page is posted private so that was a little deceiving They also claimed they couldn't get to the paddle boats because they had gotten so much rain it was "flooded." I walked around to look the second night and by flooded, they meant you'd have to get your feet wet to get to a paddle boat. Was very disappointed by that, we thought it would have been the best part of the campground. Looked like is was an excuse to not get a paddle boat out for us. Probably would have gotten 4 stars if they had.

We came to the area to visit the Creation Museum, and decided to camp instead of going to a hotel.

There are plenty of places around the park to just sit and enjoy a book. Some sites offer fires, but ours didn't. There are two laundry locations, but they only have a few washers and dryers. That's not enough when the park has 230 sites. Expect to wait for one to open. You do have a picnic table, but it's time to repair them. They did add in their flyer to call if you have an issue with your picnic table. You mow and clean up your site after someone stays, so you should already see any table issues. When I get to a site I've already spent many hours driving and don't want to call with any issues. I want to set up, relax, and enjoy the amenities. The property is very clean and well managed. They have an employee take you to your site and assist you in pulling in. We would definitely stay here again!!

One of the better bark parks of all the campsites we've visited - separate area for small and large dogs. There is some noise from the nearby interstate. And the newly opened shooting range starts popping around 08:00 am. Other than that it would depend on which site you're at. The only things we did not enjoy - MANY late arrivals every single night made for a lot of noise late in the evening. The park needs to place more signs for the 10 mph speed limit AND enforce it. There were too many cars rolling way too fast in the park. There are kids, people!! If I wasn't paying attention to one driver, she would have hit me - driving too fast and on her phone. Not the sites fault but a lot of rude campers - starting their big diesel rigs in the early morning and late night (not sure why, they didn't move anywhere). People walking through our site. And the morning before I left, the dude in the next campsite was sitting at our picnic table talking on his mobile when I walked out my door. And he didn't even acknowledge me

There are several trails, playgrounds, some historic buildings, picnic areas, and extremely clean and well maintained restrooms. We opted for the Miami Fort trail, which offers fascinating signage about the earthworks and mounds that can be seen along parts of the trail, and about the Hopewell and Adena people who constructed them. If you take a close look at the map at the trailhead, it shows you where to look for the fort walls (to your right as you enter the fort, and there is very clear signage on the trail that indicates when you are entering and leaving the fort). We found that helpful for initially orientating ourselves, plus watching for additional signage along the way. The trail is 1.4 miles long, and you can loop all the way around the interior edge of the fort, if desired, or you can go out to the Ohio River Valley Overlook (or do both). We opted to do an out-and-back to the overlook because the other section of the loop seemed a bit overgrown. It's a very pretty forested area, and the overlook is excellent - you can see both Indiana and Kentucky from that point. There's a nice bench to sit and relax. It was definitely a popular spot as we saw several other groups moving along the trail and stopping at the lookout point. Signage at the lookout indicates that the last native group to use the area were the Shawnee, which is how the park's name was chosen. We really enjoyed the historical information and experience the lovely nature on the trail, plus the stunning view!

This was a great place for a family hike in Cincinnati. Great scenery and view of the Ohio River.read more
