Quite a decent selection of used books in a cozy little bookstore. The owner is a nice guy too. Support the independent bookstores!

I drove over on a Saturday afternoon, and easily found the building just off Hwy 83. The…read morestorefront sign would be hard to miss, and the parking is pretty good too. Inside, the store gives a nostalgic feel, with a few old Underwood typewriters displayed to give even more an old-timey punch. I easily navigated my way through the store, seeing the different genre sections clearly posted (Poetry, Non-fiction, etc.). I bought two books at $17.95 ea, but found others that interested me at around $24.95 ea. Not all books are sticker price labeled...on older books, they write a price in pencil inside book on front page! As a local (Wisconsin) writer, it's nice to find a bookstore that offers selected writings in an atmospheric way that big chain-stores just cannot duplicate!

This small shop on the main street that cuts through town offers a glimpse into literary magic. They offer beautiful vintage and unique books that you won't find anywhere else. It was like a treasure hunt, looking to discover special books you didn't know you wanted - and some you have been looking for, for ages! The owner is just as special - so friendly and welcoming. It felt like I was visiting their home. They chatted about their love of books and easily assisted us on our hunt. Rare Vision Books is right next to Mama D's Coffee so you can plan a perfect afternoon of coffee and reading...

DVDs, CDs, LPs, graphic novels, audio books, and real books means they have something for everyone. They donate books to systems that support people in need and at least one other local business! I learned through The Barrymore Theatre that Frugal Muse is a ticket outlet for it. It is super convenient having a neighborhood ticket outlet! I enjoy paying cash that goes directly to the theatre (the bookstore being supportive enough not to add a fee) and that I get a physical ticket! No scan a phone here. I got paper tickets and I love it! My friend that has been with me on each of my ticket procurement outings finds quality low cost dvds for her family at Frugal Muse. Yesterdays selection: "Toy Story 3" still in the shrink wrap. The store is clean, organized, quaint, quiet. It's what I imagine book stores "used to be like", I say having grown up only in national chains environments. There are always a half dozen or more other shoppers when I've been here. Join them! There are always a couple gentlemen working behind the counter and I suspect they would talk books and authors if you engage them. Key tip: Frugal Muse can order new books! Drop in here to order what you want - avoid the national chain! Support local.

They have a good teen section that's grown over the last few years and a new manga section. Prices are always reasonable and they have a good selection of $2 books.
