This is the most German experience I've ever had. They had a band playing polka, giant pretzels, giant steins of beer and plenty of sauerkraut. The thing that I hadn't before is a pig nuckle and the outside was a bit overcooked but the middle was tender and paired nice with the kraut. Skip whatever hotdog/sausage dish, there was no flavor, but everything else was a decent. I wish the pretzel was fresher, but I think that this more a drinking hall that has food than a place to eat. If you're a tourist, come here for a shared plate or two and beer or three.

We sat at a large, long wooden table with a German couple and a father and his young son. Loved the Bavarian music in the Braustuberl. So fun and full of life. Everyone was raising their glass and singing along. Asked our waiter what was his favorite nonalcoholic beer. His answer was...."water." After trying the nonalcoholic beer, I understood his reply. Yuck! For dinner, my hubby had the beef goulash with a huge bread dumpling. I tried the summer menu assorted vegetarian dumplings. Beetroot, spinach and mountain cheese with market veggies and hard cheese. Both were good, but I would not get either again. Would definitely come here again for the atmosphere. 35,000 people visit on any given day. About 3000 can sit in the building and another 4000 in the Biergarten at any given time. Amazing!

This place came highly recommended by a couple we met in Vienna. They were from Munich and said it…read morewas a "must stop" and they were so right. Located just behind Old Town on Frauenplatz, it's a little off the beaten track, but not too hard to find. This Bavarian gem has been around for over 125 years. The food was so good. Here you will find traditional German, Bavarian food. We stopped by for lunch and it was packed with mostly locals. We were seated a large table with 3 other couples who were all from the area. One person brought his dog who kept running under the table to sniff my leg. Minus the dog, this was a treat and everyone was so nice. We even toasted when the cold Augustiner beer arrived. Again, we were told to order the sausages so we did. I ordered the 6 and my husband ordered the 8 sausages with sauerkraut. These looked like what we call breakfast sausage, they're thin but pack a a ton of flavor and were delicious, especially with the fresh sauerkraut. The staff was friendly and helpful with an English version menu. The atmosphere was cool and very authentic. Exactly what we were looking for when in Munich.

We got the Glöckl Platter which was a mixed plate of sausages. I could not decide which sausage was my favorite because I liked all three. The sausages in Germany taste more pure and less processed than the ones from the United States...and of course they are better in Germany! The side order of roasted potatoes was also delicious, with a crispy bottom, kind of like a cross between hash browns and home fries. The portions were smaller than other beer gardens I have been to though (1 star off). I was not familiar with German beers, so just told the waitstaff the glass size (1/2 L or 1L) and one was selected for me. It was light with some hops -- great with sausages and for summertime. We sat outside at a table squeezed between many other tables, but did not mind the crowd. It was great for people-watching in a busy part of town on a relaxing summer evening.

My plate consisted of a grilled pork skewer with rice, a sausage, fries, onions, and 2 sauces - one red and one white. Everything was delicious! And it's filling! I was very happy with my choice of food. I also ordered a small Augustiner beer which I believe is half of a half liter lol! Our male waiter was soo friendly! I didn't get his name but he's from Ethiopia and he helped my group and I when it came to ordering food and recommendations. I am definitely going to try other Croatian foods.

We ordered the special coleslaw (with bacon!) and the mixed platters. It took some time for the food to arrive, but not too long. The salad was great, there is definitely a difference between the German coleslaw and theirs. We had one small and one big plate of it. The big plate was 1 pound of salad! After that we got our main dishes. Soooo good. Remembered me of my childhood days. A huge plate, with freshly cooked food. Sausages, skewers, chicken, beef, pork, Ayvar, fries, slaw, sour cream,... It was delicious, and way too much! All of us enjoyed the meal! Great atmosphere, brewery-like. The location is very convenient (3 minutes from Marienplatz), and the prices are awesome. A main dish costs around 13€, drinks 3-4€!!! Check it out!!!!!!!
