The shop is small and packed with anything and everything; fresh fruits, veggies, meats, eggs, cheeses, drinks, laundry and cleaning supplies, liquor, snacks, and fun little treats scattered throughout. The staff are friendly neighborhood folk who know lots of their clientele and just what they want. Prices are high but this is for convenience not the deal. During our stay in Big Bear we got many of our groceries and some sweet treats from the Community Market, and I'm sure we will be back when we return again someday.

That all being said, I was very grateful to find the GVL General Store during my stay. It's really the only place in the area to get grocery-type items, and there was a nice little variety of things to support the community and keep residents and visitors from having to drive down the hill a bit to get some basic essentials. They also had some cute little GVL items (such as little GVL journal/notebook that I picked up), which was a nice little surprise. They key to appreciating this general store is appreciating it for exactly what it is and where it's located. Are you going to find everything you could possibly want? Of course not.
