I usually love places that are a little more off the beaten path and isolated, but this community (and the lake it's centered around) just didn't do it for me. That all being said, I was very grateful to find the GVL General Store during my stay. It's really the only place in the area to get grocery-type items, and there was a nice little variety of things to support the community and keep residents and visitors from having to drive down the hill a bit to get some basic essentials. They also had some cute little GVL items (such as little GVL journal/notebook that I picked up), which was a nice little surprise. They key to appreciating this general store is appreciating it for exactly what it is and where it's located. Are you going to find everything you could possibly want? Of course not. But chances are, you'll be able to something that works.
