He also gave us pointers around swimming and jet skiing in this section of Pyramid Lake which is called Vaquero Lake. We had a fun time. He also told us many interesting stories and provided information about the trail itself. He also provided cellphone holsters which came very handy. He treats the horses really well. They were happy, well-fed with fresh hay and they ate fresh plants along the trail. The ranch itself is very nice and beautifully made and it's also very clean for a ranch. Over all 10/10 experience.

He also surprised us with some cookies during a break in the ride. He has a vast amount of knowledge of the local area, but that is dwarfed by his knowledge and skill with his horses. They were all extremely impressive in how well they handled my 7 year old's high energy, and had a very calm demeanor the whole time. We also followed up with an archery session, and James is just as patient an archery instructor as he is a riding instructor, giving us tips on proper stance and handling of the bows. It was a great experience, and I would definitely like to plan another visit!

And each time I've taken one of his classes I learned something new and developed more of a sense of safety. I was nervous about being around guns at first, but felt like I needed to make sure I was protected. The more I handled a weapon the more comfortable I felt. And Art made it simple with his information, tips and instructions that made me feel like I was on my way to being a pro in no time! Then I tried clay shooting and that humbled me back to my starting position. Lol. I was horrible at the clays at first, but once again, Art's patient gunside manor helped me calm down and focus, and I was finally able to hit a couple. I would recommend any of his classes, especially coming from a newbie's perspective. My introduction to guns wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, it was fun. I feel like I'm on the road to having a new skill that will help me protect myself and my family, and that's priceless!

My home life was really terrible and Lakota was the place I could go and ride horses every day which was my passion; a place that made me feel joyful and cared for and listened to. We just plain had a blast every second of every day and would cry all the way home on the bus when it was time to go!! I couldn't be happier to see that the camp is still thriving and the property renovations are just incredible. What a gift Camp Lakota has been to thousands and thousands of girls like myself, where for just a while, every summer, we had a place to go to feel sane and unafraid!!
