Took my first visit to @highpinesbrewing for a flight of a few of their beers. Sadly I wasn't able to try their food, but the food from the @tipsysteer looked delectable in any case and I will need to visit again to give it a try. Aguavarita: This was a Gose that had agave and guava added which gave it a nice balance. The tartness from the core Gose sour style leveraged the sweetness of the agave / guava to taste nearly like a margarita. Hazebiscus: An extremely fruity and juicy Double Dry Hopped IPA. The use of this year's Pink Boots Blend (HBC 630, Idaho Gem, Loral, Talus, and Triumph) gave off raspberry and red currant on the aroma with a huge blast of grapefruit, citrus, and raspberry on the flavor. A medium hop bitterness rose in the finish. Very enjoyable DDH IPA in addition to $3 per pound of the hop blend donated to the Pink Boots Society scholarship fund (which High Pines used 44 pounds) Home Improvements: A black lager with sales being donated to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. Medium-thin body with a lot of roastiness for a lager. Pitch black, bitter, and refreshing. Beyond the roastiness, there are medium-low dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans on both the aroma and the flavor. Still refreshing on the warmer summer days. read more

I've never had such bad service before. I came here a bit ago and suggested to come here with the large group I was with, but that wasn't a good idea at all. The space is quite large with open seating - something I'd expect is great for a large group. I asked if we could combine some tables and the staff said they'd do it for us. We ended up having a table for 8. While more people in my group showed up than expected, we ended up adding a few more chairs. With the open seating and lots of tables available, we thought it would be fine. However, the staff didn't seem to be too happy with us. Our group had not gotten together in a while, so a couple of us had switched chairs to talk with different people. The server said in a very rude way, "You guys need to stop switching seats. I can't keep track of your orders and you want this on separate checks, right?" We had never asked for separate checks and I would have offered to pay on one check if it made it easier, but she left right after saying that. Towards the end of our stay, after paying and enjoying some last minute shakes (around 9:15pm, they close at 10), the same server started putting away the metal chairs VERY loudly and carelessly while we were still finishing up. We all watched her throw the chairs on top of each other as we stayed silent because we couldn't hear each other over her stacking them. We took the hint and left. Everyone inside the restaurant followed after. I assume because they, too, felt awkward as she was loudly cleaning up. The food was mid at best, the beer selection and unique combinations are great, but the bad service made the experience miserable. I didn't notice the server treating any other guests as bad as our table, so I am just not sure why she treated us the way she did. I definitely won't be back. read more

This is a great spot in the heart of Roseville! I was surprised at how a fairly new and suburban brewery could capture a charming dive bar feel. It probably helped that we went in December and it was decked out with holiday lighting. I had the Easy Tiger paired with a bacon jam burger from Tipsy Steer. The pairing worked really well and the burger was fantastic. Everyone in my group had different entrees which speaks to the wide variety of menu options. My husband and I met another couple here (with their young baby) for a early happy hour - we were pleased with the staff helping our friends find a spot for their empty baby carrier and checking in with them to make sure they were comfortable. We were happy to be able to meet up with our friends, for them to be able to grab a yummy bite to eat and drink. The prices were fair and food was delicious! We did have to flag down our server a couple times but he also appeared to be the bar tender, he was very nice though. Besides the awkward waving down of staff, which very much could be him respecting our conversation and space, we will return and recommend. Update: my husband, niece, and I went to High Pines for brunch. Neither is us knew they served breakfast food. Their breakfast food is pretty good. Our picky eater niece enjoyed the waffles. My husband loved the chicken waffle (Tennessee Rise & Shine). The flavors was good. The chicken was savory and it mixed well with the sweetness. I had the sirloin & eggs. The steak was very well seasoned. The coffee ground rub really works. Our server was attentive. The ambiance was casual and laid back. read more

Came here after our first choice was way too busy. Our server was great and she gave us her recommendations. The food was perfect for appetizers, great flavor but not too filling. I had the easy Tiger (Pale Ale - American ) and the rose and the wolf (IPA - New England) for beer and they were both smooth and refreshing. Lots of seating and everything was clean. Parking was easy, smaller lot but it's not a problem. Definitely coming back in the summer! read more

After looking up High Pines online, I was a bit confused if High Pines and Tipsy Steer were the same place or two neighboring locations, so for anyone wondering... They're the same location! You order beer + food at your table and it's all paid on the same bill, just like any other brew pub. Tonight was our first stop into High Pines, and we all really enjoyed the beer and the food! I tried a Peter Palmer to drink (delicious) and the Turkey burger for dinner (so flavorful and well executed!). We got a chuckle out of how clearly the place resembled its former life as a Joe's Crabshack, and loved sitting outdoors on the patio. Great spot! We'll be back! read more

Yesterday I was in the Roseville area so we decided to grab some lunch and check out @highpinesbrewing / @tipsysteer. Really great building and location. This was the old Joe Crab Shack and I love the vibes. Even cooler that it's a @gophersports bar! We went with the Cherry Honey Flatbread featuring Prosciutto, dried cherries, spent grain granola, gorgonzola, mozzarella & honey drizzle. The was flavorful, very delicious and ate light. Perfect for an app. SEARED TENDERLOIN TIPS Seasoned seared tenderloin tips served with a jumbo onion ring & Kolsch horseradish sauce drizzle. The steak was seasoned very well cooked to medium well. I loved the Kolsch horseradish sauce! I would dip anything in this. The Beers were all great. We sampled several with the flight and pints we had. I loved the Uff-Dank which was a Mid-West Coast IPA featuring Cascade & Centenial hops grown in Michigan. This was a great brewery and I loved the vibes. Can definitely see@my self going back to watch more games here and enjoying some beers. Hopefully they put some chicken wings on the menu when this wing shortage fads. read more

This brewery is inside the Tipsy Steer restaurant. They do have a bar but it's not like a normal brewery where you walk in and it's open seating. You have to wait for a table from the host. Got the S.assy O.ld U.nicycle R.ider w/ Blueberry and Vanilla which is a fruity sour and the impossible barricade which is an IPA. The sour was sour which I loved! But didn't really taste an blueberry. The impossible barricade tasted like a pretty standard IPA to me. I also liked that you can do half pours or create a flight. Didn't order any food but the options we saw walking by did look good! read more

NEW brewery in the old Charlie's Crab building! The lower stars reflect the new opening blues-which I'm sure will improve when they get up and running at full capacity. Our barkeep did a fantastic job as a bartender, waitress, busboy-thank you! The High Pines S/mores Brown Please was a real pleaser! High Pine Honey Pines was ok, but the root beer float was heavenly (just wish it would have been HP root beer). We look forward to visiting again soon, and then I will update their review! read more

We like this brewery in Roseville a lot. It is a small brewery with a lot of flavorful beers. The Tipsy Steer is the restaurant I. There and offer a lot of great food as well. The parking lot is very large and it's right by Rosedale Mall, so a lot of good shopping and other places nearby. read more

I've been here a couple of times with friends after our weekly hikes. High Pines can accommodate our group indoors and out, and the beer enthusiasts seem happy with the selection of brews. I'm not into beer, but there's always a beverage I can enjoy, too. Service has been friendly and amazingly prompt, especially considering that we're often a group of 10-15. I had a great burger there, and on another occasion bang bang shrimp that was truly banging! Also delicious brussels sprouts and crispy fries. read more

It's a microbrewery and burger joint. The decor and atmosphere were pleasant, a sort of "backwoods shack" meets "sports bar" feel. There was a nice menu of offerings and my burger, fries, and glass of beer were pretty good overall. However, as my meal was concluding, I was pleasantly relaxed and smiling, and my server asked for my debit card. He said he'd just take it and run it for me to save time. That didn't sound right. I've NEVER in my decades on this planet had a server not bring the check. I look him square in the eyes and ask him to please bring my check. He does that. He walks about 10 feet over to a station, prints out the check and brings it to me and says "I wasn't trying anything shady, I just thought I'd save a trip and save paper by not printing it out. I wasn't trying to rip you off or anything." Uh huh. "Save a trip". . .the place where you printed out the check was 10 feet from you, and you were halfway there when calling out to me asking for my debit card. Save paper? Are they that short on register tape? Yeah, I think my server was trying to rip me off. I didn't feel like calling for a manager and starting a scene. I left and was going to call and complain about my server, but I didn't remember his name. I looked on my receipt, knowing those usually list server names. . .nope, just a generic "BAR 1" login. He seemed to be hiding his identity, which again made me suspect he knew he was doing wrong by just trying to take my card. read more

Nice use of an old big box chain restaurant building. Nice selection of their own beers made on site. The Tipsy Steer does the food for them but you can order both at your table. Food was good, Hefeweizen was good and the crowler to go was great the next day. read more

The worse service ever. Never will I be back. It took almost 45 minutes to get a second beer. She passes us by and hasn't returned. Absolutely the worst. To her credit she charged us for 4 beers, so we said were leaving because we never got the 2nd beer. She reran the bill and charged for only one. We go out 4-5 nights a week in the neighborhood. Been here twice since the grand opening Feb 4. The beer list is growing (as it takes time to brew) and all beers have been fabulous so far. The owners took an old Joe's Crab Shack and transformed it into a brewery with a sports bar feel. If you have questions about the beer, the local brewer is generally there and very passionate about his work. He will love to tell you about the processes etc. I can not wait for some more beers to be ready. The beertenders and staff were amazing and you could not tell this is a newly opened place. It was nice, location was good and there was a playground which was a bonus for the kid. The staff were friendly and quick. I just was not a fan of the beer selection. I like more wheat beers or hazy IPAs. Here they had mostly IPAs and darker beers. I did like the smoresbeer, a good stout beer. We also ordered food, Bavarian pretzels for appetizer, and short rib grilled cheese. It didn't have the high traffic up beat brewery feel however we are in the middle of a pandemic and capacity is reduced so that is a good thing but it just didn't feel the same. For being in a pandemic I thought they did a great job. I will keep an eye on their beer selection for the future! read more

If you can look past the garbage in the parking lot and dirty windows, it's a cool spot for a brewery. Family friendly with kids menu and playground outside. Enjoyed my India Pale Lager...would be great on a hot summer day. If they could eliminate the dirty vibe, it'd be a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

The burgers are some of the best in town and the brisket tacos were great but when it come to the beer I am a light beer drinker and there is not a beer I can drink there. Two other friends I sent there said they to did not care for the beer and will not stop back. The honey pines beer might be a favorite for some it does not work for a quite a few others. Hoppy beer is not for a large number of people but brewers make what they like excluding people !like myself. We wanted to stay for the football game but we ate there and went to a different bar to drink. read more
