I am highly disappointed with Brunswick Air and I will never recommend this flight school to…read moreanyone. My story with them started on Jan 23. 2020. During the old Management/Owner. During this time, I took my first flight with 1st CFI which was about 45min, I asked a ton of questions as to who would be my flight instructor, how long it would take and the cost. I was advised that the flight instructor will depend on a few factors, My schedule and compatibility. Great! On my second flight I was introduced to 2nd CFI, an older retired military pilot, we hit it off right away, during our first flight he introduced me to a few maneuvers, Slow flight and S-turns, he then asked if I have ever flown before, I advise just as a passenger. Things went well for the next 5 flights, Then Covid hit, for 3 months the school was closed. On 5/14 /2020 the school opened up and I was called, at that time I was advised the 2nd CFI would not be coming back so they paired me with a Younger CFI, I was concerned about this and because I began with 2nd CFI and already had time and money invested. It was explained to me that my log book will tell the story and not to worry because I would not have to start all over again that the new 3rd CFI will just continue where I left off with the 2nd CFI. I said OK and began working with 3rd CFI. We had flown from 05/14 /2020to 08/24/2021 fly approximately 3 to 4 times a month with some cancellations due to weather, maintenance and other life events. On 08/24/2021 we were scheduled to fly to Conway but I was advised that it would be my last flight with 3rd CFI as he was picked up by an airline which was great for him but my concerns grew once again, because I would have to work with yet another flight instructor. The next three flights were with 4th CFI, which was one of the worst instructors I had encountered in any profession. On the third flight I cut the flight short because he was too cavalier with safety and more concerned about building hours for himself rather than instructing. I had a conversation with him and provided him some feedback and explained that I cannot fly with him. At this point I was going to go elsewhere, the original owner at the time, apologized and got a new instructor and again my concern was time spent on training and money. She introduced me to my current instructor 5th, I was with him a few times and we also hit it off well. Here comes the hammer, the original owners decided to sell and retire, I was again concerned because I had accumulated 49 hours of flight training, 13.72 ground training and spent $10,785. Again, I was told not to worry that my logbook will tell the story and not much will change. Now 60.4hrs flight time, 21.64hrs ground a total of 82.32hrs and $13,720 spent, I was once gain mislead, the new owner has implemented a new process 6 months after he took over and without notice. According to this new process I am only now 30% completed and my instructor stated that unfortunately the time I spent with the school and instructor prior only will count as experience only. I didn't understand, experience comes from flying; I am paying them to teach. This feels to me as once the new owner took over everything prior is a wash. Now I am stuck, this is horrible.

We came on a day when we thought the weather at the beach was going to be less than ideal - lucky for us, the Zipline tours operate rain or shine. We ended up having great weather for it too! It was super easy to book. Once we got there, they got us kitted out, then we went through a quick (yet thorough) instruction on how to safely zipline. It was a group of 5 of us plus our guides. The tour took about 2 - 2.5 hours, and you get to go on 10 different ziplines. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon. For the Zipline tour, we had Jesse, Margaret, and Lacey as our guides and all of them were great! Jesse is very fun and funny, Margaret is super sweet, and Lacey had amazing knowledge on fun facts throughout the tour! The zip lines were very fun, and all three guides took every measure to ensure our safety, creating a good sense of trust. We all felt like a group of friends by the end of our tour. They also take photos at the beginning, middle, and end of the tour with specific spots for photo ops which I truly appreciate! (You do have to pay for the photos.) I will absolutely recommend The Swamp Park to friends and family! We plan to come back and try the ATV tour next!

Buy tickets on line and you will be rewarded with early boarding and a better choice of seats. On a nice day it's great to sit outside, which we did. Pets are welcome outside. Parking was easy, but the lot is huge so assume you may need 10 minutes to walk from your to the ferry. I suggest using google maps so you know which way to walk... there seem to be no signs. The ride was smooth and took about 30 min. The staff was helpful and friendly. On the way back we left early and were allowed onboard at 2:39 even though our tickets were for 4:30. No doubt that it's not an exciting destination in itself, but it's a pleasant way to travel.

I've always had a love affair with water. When we think about New York, we tend to think about tall…read morebuildings and no green space, but 15 minutes from my house in the Bronx, was the Atlantic Ocean and Orchard Beach. This beach was free, and just a bus fare or car ride away. Some of my favorite memories as a child are my mother and grandmother filling a scotch plaid cooler that they got with their plaid stamps, with hard boiled eggs and grapes and bread and drinks and plums and salt and cookies. I can see my mom and grandma now in their one piece bathing suits, sun hats and sunglasses enjoying the freedom that we all got getting out of our apartment in the Bronx and feeling that beautiful ocean air and getting in that water. I remember fondly as a teenager heading over to the Shorehaven Beach club which was an inexpensive way for families like mine to join some kind of club where we could have access to a pool and sports facilities, etc. I have great memories of making lots of friends and enjoying many a summer day playing paddle ball, watching the entertainment and eating my cantaloupe and cottage cheese to stay slim Now, years later, I'm happy to say that I am a homeowner on Oak island. What a charming little beachside town. No high-rise hotels, no major thoroughfares running through it and lots of family-owned businesses. I really like it. Once a year, my best friend from third grade, Amy, and her family come down from Riverdale in the Bronx and Baltimore, and my kids come down and we spread a glorious week at the beach. This year they rented an oceanfront house just a few blocks from mine that had a pool! Boy, was that a game changer! We had the best time sitting under the shaded porch on the back and cooling off in that luscious pool. For Mark and Amy's anniversary, we decided to take an hour boat ride out of Southport that travels through the intracoastal waterway and surrounding areas such as Bald Head Island and Southport. We got tix to Southport Boat Rentals. I thought the entire experience was a big winner. It's 20 bucks for adults and $10 for kids, and you get a full hour. Access to the boat was very easy. It's literally right across the street from Flavas ice cream by Provisions in Southport. We each had plenty of room to sit and we were a large crowd of 18. I wish the seats had backs to them, but that's just me talking like an old man. Overall, the seats were cushioned and comfortable. It was the perfect time of day to go as Erik had mentioned. With it being 1pm in the afternoon, the sun was overhead, and since the boat is covered, we were in the shade the entire time and enjoyed the beautiful breeze from the water. It was so exciting when we saw dolphins playing in front of us and fascinating to see parts of the surrounding area we had never seen before. I want to commend the two young men that ran this boat. I wish I remembered their names. One was very attentive to our getting on and off securely and in enjoying our trip. A special shout out to the young man who drove the boat and was our guide. He was knowledgeable, interesting, a good public speaker with a clear voice friendly and quite impressive for a young man of his age. He has a future! Some of our kids said they were bored, but I just think it's kids not being used to turning off all the electronics and just taking in the beauty of the world around us. Underneath their resistance to embrace nature and quiet, I think they really liked it. We returned back to shore without a hitch and it felt like a nice full hour with a lot of cool information shared with us. Once again, the staff was very helpful in getting us off the boat and onto land. Mark and Amy topped off the afternoon with treating each of us to whatever we wanted at Flavas across the street. Who am I to refuse a waffle cone with coffee ice cream and sprinkles? I would highly recommend anyone in the Southport Oak Island area to take this cruise with Southport Boat Rentals. Seeing everything from the water will give you a brand new perspective of your magnificent surroundings and how blessed we are that we can enjoy such wonderful gifts of nature and the beauty of the water in NC. I received a text at 5pm on the 20th reading that the trip was confirmed. An hour later I received another text reading that the trip was canceled due to a mechanical issue with the boat. I called Harvey Wall (boat captain) several times without an answer. At the least Harvey should have made other accommodations for us. The way he handled this is unbelievably unprofessional.
