Extremely overpriced service and poor communication…read more After hearing great things about Scott Baird Automotive from family and friends, I was extremely disappointed with the two car Services I received this year. For the first service (my partners car), I asked that if there were any issues with the car, these would be quoted before they proceeded with remedying them. I was contacted later by Scott who said there were issues, and made it seem like he had already remedied them but did not discuss any pricing or cost of this, so I assumed they were minor. When I arrived to pick up my car, I was charged far more than what was inferred as the 'genuine' parts ordered were purchased directly from the manufacturer. Apparently this brief phone call was confirmation of my agreement to proceed with remedying these significant issues, when it was vague and communicated poorly. I decided to give Scott Baird Automotive a second chance for my car given the good things I had heard about them (big mistake). On this occassion I only received a standard car service (Oil and Filter Change + minor works and ensuring car was up to spec) and was charged $250 labour for 2 hours work, $400 all up. Furthermore, they will only install 'genuine' parts that are ordered directly from the manufacturer (in my case Honda) who charge excessive rates for their parts, so you're better off going straight to your car manufacturer for your service if you are going to pay a premium anyway. Only reason for 2 stars is for the work they carried out was up to a high standard and Scott came across as genuine, but their labour and service costs are extremely overpriced and poor value for money.

I have had all problems associated with my car over the years fixed, without any recurring issues. My car often ends up cleaner than it was after the service. I am consulted before any repairs are made and effort is made to source the best value parts. Loan cars are available with all staff at the business very friendly and keen to help. I have had problems fixed by just turning up and they immediately have helped and solve the issue without cost. They are in a great location of Glen Innes if in the Eastern Suburbs and are close enough also if further south-east.

We have been getting our car serviced and repaired at Sparg's for years and generally been…read moresatisfied with their work. However on our most recent repair, Sparg's installed an incorrect part and this became apparent later. Sparg's rectified this problem but charged us a substantially higher amount for the re-do work and additional labour not taking into account that we had paid for the initial 'incorrect' work and that it was their mistake. When this was questioned, Chris was extremely rude and aggressive and even refused to discuss the matter or explain their charges to us. We made independent enquiries about the cost of the part and Sparg's had marked up their price by over 50% from cost price! Additionally, when our car was on their premises for weeks awaiting repair, an external part of the car was broken. Sparg's refused to accept responsibility of the broken part despite it being on their premises and under their care. We have had very poor service from Sparg's and of course will not be returning to them. If you choose to go to Sparg's, we recommend that you question their prices as they clearly mark up their prices excessively which is a breach of the Consumers' Guarantees Act. Additionally, the manner in which Sparg's dealt with our complaint was appalling! Customers have a right to know what has been done to their car. Additionally we suggest that you check your invoices carefully. We have discovered several mistakes looking back and been overcharged, but Sparg's has refused to refund our money. A good mechanic is hard to find and Sparg's is certainly not one of them. We strongly suggest that you look elsewhere to find a mechanic to carry out reliable and fair priced work with respectful customer service.

I didn't feel they took advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge, and they did the job in record time too, and I've never had a problem with that part since, which is helpful.
