Which when I had set the appointment up was told that they most generally send extractions out to a surgeon. After the last cancellation I was told that she was going to charge me $50.00 for not giving a 24 hr notice. That was ok, I scheduled my next appointment only because someone else had answered and I was informed that I could go to a surgeon on Hill Rd. (I Use YourRide-which means Genesee Co. only) the previous person had told me that they sent patients to 59 in Hartland, not covered by YourRide. I was willing to pay the money, but when you live on Disability bills are hard to pay. In good faith I called today to tell them that I do not have the $50.00 fee due to a late cancellation. My appointment was for this Wednesday, August 6. Now mind you my emergency is a back molar that has split in half. This is the 5th tooth that has done this since Primary Bone Cancer. It doesn't hurt at this point, but it will, it is difficult to chew on just the one side. Why is it when I was coming in find out if they could take it out, the others just basically fell out. There's no surgery to it. There is no money in it, when a general dentistry doesn't do general, anymore but sends everyone to a surgeon. But instead concentrates on Cosmetic Services instead..... I was going to pay, just because I am poor doesn't mean I'm going to rip you off. I wish I could say the employees name but I won't stoop to her non-compassionate attitude towards someone with a tooth dangling in their mouth. I as a former healthcare professional wonders what happened to compassionate patient care. It used to be a higher calling, like Pastors, Priests and Clergy. Doctors, Nurses, Medical Staff were expected to be ...More. I know we are all human but when did we lose our pride in what we do for a living? I learned early, what staff are like at this place. But my plan was changed the second I opened the door and was met by Tiffany's warm and welcoming smile at the counter. Her friendly vibe was so disarming that my 'business-only' attitude melted away, and before I knew it, I was officially a patient. My wife found it funny. My first consultation with the amazing Dr. Joseph Shimoun was... memorable. I boldly (and perhaps a bit stupidly) asked him to just pull all my teeth and set me up with some dentures. Instead of laughing at my ignorance, he listened to me with genuine concern as he wanted to understand where I was comming from with such a request. With the calm demeanor, he gently explained that I might not fully grasp what I was asking for and then showed me that he could give me back my own smile. He promised he could create a treatment plan with options, and he delivered. After some scans, some surprisingly fun chats, and some great tunes, we sat down again. He laid out a complete roadmap to fix my teeth, explaining every detail. Better yet, he assured me he'd personally work with my insurance to get it all covered. I didn't know how to refuse and went with his plan happily. What followed were many, many appointments - some stretching over three hours! Through it all, Dr. Shimoun's focus and patience never wavered. The man is a dental artist. My mouth, once a broken-down mess that made me forget how to smile naturally, is now filled with a full set of beautifully repaired teeth. No more cracks, no more holes! Dr. Shimoun's incredible dedication, Lexi's expert and gentle care, and Tiffany's ever-present kindness have left the greatest impression on me. Though I didn't meet a single staff member I didn't like, those three are the ones that really stuck with me. Thanks to them, I'm no longer afraid to smile while driving my school bus. The amazing care didn't stop with me. My wife is now a patient, and when I brought my kids in, the team showed their true colors. Instead of just trying to make a dime, they recommended a fantastic pediatric dental specialist that was perfect for my children, in our network, and close to home. I even have a hard time taking my four children to their appointments, usually their father or my mom takes them for me. After breaking two teeth while eating pumpkin seeds last Friday, I knew I had to face my fears and go in. I made an appointment with Dr. Shimoun that same day and was able to get in the following Tuesday. Every single person in his office was amazing!! So kind, patient, and understanding. I didn't feel judged at all, which was honestly my biggest fear going in. Dr. Shimoun is truly incredible. He has such a kind, gentle demeanor and took the time to sit with me, explain everything that was going on, and make sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. He was also willing to work with me financially since I don't have dental insurance and can't afford all the out-of-pocket costs right now. Nichole, the office manager, checked on me several times during my visit and really took the time to get to know me and understand my fear of the dentist. Erin, who scheduled my appointment, was so kind and calming over the phone, and she even checked on me again at the end of my visit. It truly is the little things that make such a big difference. Thanks to Dr. Shimoun and his wonderful team, my fear of the dentist is almost completely gone. My four children and I will continue seeing Dr. Shimoun from now on. I'm so thankful I pushed through my fears and found this office, they truly changed the way I feel about going to the dentist!
