We were pleasantly surprised walking into this place on Friday eve before Easter. The ambiance was nice. Candles and pillows and blackboard paint, little strands of lights , music, special drinks , friendly staff and customers . A good mix of age groups. Got pretty busy. For starters we had a "figetta bout it " and a "motion in the ocean" and liked them so much we decided to stay for another drink, and had "Cranky IPA" and "Dirty White Girl". My BF said the IPA was the BEST BEER he ever had. The drinks were HBC originals and were very good. We did wish they were a little larger , for the price. We did think the prices were a little high for the area. There is a blackboard with some food specials on it , but we didn't see anyone eating. It had grilled cheese and some other regular bar stuff on it . We would definitely come back! The place is comfortable and fun. The staff is nice. We will be back. There are some video games that they should consider getting rid of.

While I have not come in for the food, this is one of the few times where I am not going to worry about that. Nah, the reason I come to a place like this most of the time is when I need a few drinks to let myself loose. It also helps that I live very close to this place for the time being, so I might come back here a few more times based on that alone. This place is taken care of pretty well too. This is good because sometimes this place this place can get some pretty hectic crowding, but other times it will be a quiet night. It's a simple tavern, not much to it, but sometimes simple is what we need. Oh, and the service from the bartenders? Superb! Both times I came in I met Emily and both times she was great. Last night I met Jay. Gotta say, they work together quite well. They set the bar for any bartender who works here.

Everything was very clean. Parking was a bit of a struggle - there was street parking above, below, and across, and a huge lot in the back. The menu looked pretty good so we started with some apps. Beer cheese- definitely a different twist than I expected but it was great. Very flavorful, really beer forward. The bruschetta was ridiculously amazing!! The cucumber salsa was missing something but ok, needed some acid or heat. My disappointment started when they brought out our meal, (we still had two apps to go, I hate my meal coming out with or before the rest of our apps. I had the hot honey chicken and NE Clam chowder. The chowder was brown and was not what I was looking for, I packaged up to go. It was primarily the brown I assume the roux went farther than it should have or there is something else in it.. The hot honey chicken was ok, the chicken was paper thin , tasted mostly arugula no heat, no sweet... I'd switch out the bread for a roll next time and douse it with hot sauce. The cottage fries are out of this world and I would come back for beverages and those!! My partner had the biria sandwich which was fire, also had a salad which was really good as well. The cookies are really amazing! Actual Dessert- I am struggling with we opted for the Chocolate cake which was literally melting- did not think it was ice cream so not sure why we had a puddle in a box when we got home. I want to try other things, as we had some good and some not so good, so we'll be back and update again after another try.

There were a lot of staff for hardly any people but I'm assuming they were getting ready for a rush to come later. The ambiance is nice, it's decorated well and gives a bit of a speakeasy vibe. We got mocktails and two apps. The sliders and the French onion chicken nachos which were on the specials menu. Our drinks were good, they made me one special as I wasn't a fan of some of the ingredients in the mocktail options! My drink was well made and was really good! Service was decent but our waiter was hovering a lot. The food was nothing special. We liked the sliders but they were a little bland. They were still juicy and not overcooked and the sauce on them wasn't bad. Overall not much flavor. The chips for the nachos were overcooked and fried in what tasted like old oil as there was a burnt aftertaste. The chicken was just dry shredded chicken with virtually no seasoning. I understand why the Gruyère was used as the cheese, as that's what used in French onion soup, but Gruyère is not a good melting cheese. It was congealed/it broke and was in globs and we needed a fork and knife to cut through it. The only onions on the dish were crispy fried onions and scallions which didn't add the French onion flavor you'd expect. All in all after our experience we had this is not a place we'd return to.

Don't let the outside of this place fool you because looks are definitely deceiving. We were cautious coming to this place due to the appearance of the outside, but once we were in it was so much fun. Agus, aka rawbartender, was Ah-mazing and truly made the night fun. He was truly such a vibe!! I ordered the SpongeBob, which was Goslings rum, pineapple spice, ginger, lime, angostura bitters. Especially with the show that was put on, my drink tasted even better. It was a Smokey, yet smooth and refreshing drink! We also got the Snow White, on the sweeter side made with Pear vodka, orgeat, pear juice, lemon juice, cinnamon. And of course, we can't forget our schooling in tequila and Mezcal from Agus. He was very informative of what he was serving and we tried a few different shots. He gave us the rundown of how you're actually supposed to taste tequila. And I have to say I've never had an experience like that before. I wish the party didn't stop and I will definitely be coming back specifically for Agus and of course the drinks!

From my understanding, it is a Christmas "pop-up" called Miracle. Since we just showed up without reservations, we sat at the bar, which was totally fine with us. The bartenders were very nice and offered up some recommendations. It turned out, my friend had gone to a Miracle pop-up at another bar weeks before, but hadn't realized it. The space is cozy and was very nicely decorated. I ordered an espresso martini off of their regular menu and my friend ordered the Candy Cane Lane. We didn't order food since we had dinner plans after. Our bill was $37.00, plus the $6 we left for a tip. For two cocktails that were good, but not fantastic, that is a little steep in my opinion. If we each had a second cocktail, it would have been close to $100. It's a bar in Newtown, not the casino. Would I go back? I would, just not during the holidays, and maybe a special occasion.
