Realizing kindergarten was also just around the corner, I needed to find a school that was honest in their purpose of caring and teaching children. I met with Mrs. Margo, the kindergarten teacher and the director of their Early Childhood Development Program to tour and talk about the school. This was my first and only child and was worried of all the unknowns but went home that day knowing this was the school. Mrs Margo calmed my anxieties making me feel warm, welcomed and safe. Fast forward 9 years and a little sister, we're still here. We, as a family have gained so much words cannot explain. COL has given us not only a quality Christian education but also accountability. They are nurturing and patient with the children being the center of what they do. My children are now in 8th and 2nd grade, doing well in their subjects and love it here. Being a small school, everyone from administration to the teachers and parents are like extended family, everyone looks out for one another and our kids. Even the older students at the school share with the mentoring of the younger ones by reading and playing with them. I feel fortunate my children are able to attend the same school at the same time considering their grade difference; a unique experience they'll always remember. Thank you COL for everything. We have been truly blessed.

One thing that you also need to watch out for are the people that they allow in this school. at this point, it's not even a christian school. my son says every time he walks passed anyone, he hears bad words. now I don't know what their parents allow them to say or do but I do know for a fact that a "christian school" should not be permitting their students to say cuss words. another thing you should think twice about are the feminine boys. Yes Feminine boys. again I know this school is "christian" and all but please watch out or think twice before you send your kid/kids here because my son claims that there are feminine boys that dress weirdly and other shyt like that. another thing is discipline. The discipline is so bad here. My son said that one day in science that someone stabbed a kid with a pen and only got detention. sad. also you need to watch out for substances. this part has gotten so bad to the point where kids were bringing vapes to school and security had to bring out the dogs. the kids who were caught with this vape and shot only got suspended. and unless you want your kid/kids to get into fights. then send em here. I am not proud with the way that they are running this shytty "christian school" --- John B.

The care and warmth that every staff member has at this school are just unmatched. I wanted to take a moment to recognize a true hidden gem: St. Nicholas. Our family has had the…read morepleasure of having all three of our children attend this school. Our love for St. Nicholas began about eight years ago when we enrolled our twin daughters at 18 months old, and continued six years later when their little brother joined them. What makes St. Nicholas exceptional starts first and foremost with its community--staff, teachers, and parents alike. Every single person is genuinely invested in the well-being of each child. This isn't just something that's talked about; it's something that's consistently demonstrated. The second major strength is academics. Even at the young age of 18 months, the activities the children engage in are intentionally designed to help them learn and grow. I especially appreciate the early introduction and consistent use of phonics. This foundation has truly helped our children develop strong vocabularies and reading skills. Now, as parents of elementary-aged children, we continue to see the benefits of St. Nicholas's thoughtful academic approach. I greatly appreciate that the school does not over-index on technology as the primary teaching tool. Instead, children are taught essential foundational skills--such as writing, researching, and using glossaries and dictionaries--and then later use technology as a companion, not a substitute. To me, this approach is critical in developing strong critical-thinking skills, which will serve them well throughout life. I also value the principal's leadership, particularly when navigating challenging situations involving student conflicts. Rather than stepping in to resolve issues single-handedly, she partners closely with teachers and empowers them to guide the resolution process. This gives teachers ownership and reinforces a consistent, thoughtful approach to conflict resolution. To round this out with areas for growth, I do wish the school had more playground equipment for younger children, or a slightly larger campus that could accommodate bigger play spaces, such as a field--especially for after-school sports. I would also love to see the return of emotional intelligence courses that were offered a few years ago. Lastly, while I wish there were an easier way for parents to have visibility into homework, I also respect the balance St. Nicholas strikes as children get older--encouraging responsibility, accountability, and natural consequences as part of their learning journey.

So if you have a kid 18 months and younger, youll get great teachers. Now for the cons. They have cancelled quite a bit because the lack of teachers. This week they cancelled a week because their teachers got sick. Which leads me to why I pulled my kid out of the school. When a week was cancelled, which is a huge inconvenience to working parents, I had a convo with Michele who is the director there. I suggested that they get back up teachers so that they can provide the services we pay for. There was no raising of voices or foul language. She disagreed saying that the environment wasnt safe and insinuated that I was putting my son in danger. She was dismissive and didnt care that she was making parents pay for extra care and didnt even offer anything or apologize. So i cut the convo off saying it wasnt productive and that our son was changing school next month anyways. She then emailed me and my wife informing that i was rude and that she would be kicking my son out of their school unless I wrote an apology. What a power trip. So we pulled him out because i didnt feel safe sending my kid to a place where the person in charge has this mindset.
