I'm sure that this place might be good once you get through the moat of difficult communication that they put around themselves. Spent 30 min on hold for the person who answered to give me the helpful suggestion of emailing a pet's prescription for compounding. However, that lovely person gave me the wrong email, which I figured out the next day. That next day I wanted to call to verify that they received it and tried to use their function where you text them and they supposedly call you. No call back. Spent another 30 min to talk to someone who was rather rude and tried to mansplain their wait times and who became impatient with me (I prolly was a little impatient myself but they need to deal with it cuz there's no way I'm the only one). Had to resend the email only for the person on the phone to tell me that 'maybe' they can fill it and that they will call me. Mansplained again about what the respondent's interpretation and reaction to 'this med is urgent' was. Never will I ever use them again. Sucks cuz the info on hold is all about how great a community pharmacy is and how they are so much better than big ones. Going to Menaul Compounding and will keep using Duran's for that community feel. bye bye highland. read more

Completely dysfunctional. Called multiple times over several days to check on my prescription, receptionist was always rude. When it was finally ready, they never called so I decided to go in to see if I could move things forward. Once there they, of course, couldn't find it. This happened to the 2 customers in front of me as well. Best part, the cashier took out a pack of cigarettes and began packing them while I was paying. They rarely notify me when a prescription is ready, and when they DO, I more ALWAYS have to ask the cashier to look for it because they claim "it's not ready yet". Today I went for my flu shot -- a little busy when I walked in and filled out the form, but the place emptied out quickly and after OVER an hour I had to go up to the counter to ask when it would be ready -- IT HAD BEEN SITTING THERE THE WHOLE TIME. Nobody called my name or notified me; the staff seemed to have all disappeared, too. No apologies, nothing. I will find another pharmacy immediately. These people are inept and unprofessional. They don't answer the phone, even after waiting for 25 minutes multiple times per day trying to inquire about a prescription. Their online prescription system requires the prescription number, not your birthdate or identifying information. Even my doctor did not have their prescription number. Finally had to have my doctor call the special line to get an answer on the status of my compounding prescription which had been submitted a week earlier. They then said it would take another week when the medication was already overdue. No apologies, no interest whatsoever in customer service. Do yourself a favor and avoid Highland. read more

Staff are very friendly and helpful. While telephone wait times are long, I rarely have to call. My doctor puts in my script and Highland texts me when it is done. I purposely try to pick up when most people are at work since they're busy. My meds have to be kept cold and they are always so well packaged when I pick them up. If you have lots of time and patience, you'll like this pharmacy. The website is very limited, the phone is rarely answered, and responses to emails or messages can be slow. I usually have to drive over and wait in line to get questions answered. My wife and I REALLY wanted to like this pharmacy but... time to move on, life's too short. read more

When I was first being helped by Jessica she was serious about getting the right meds and for 8yrs there was no problem but then Leo got in the picture and everything went downhill. He's rude and ignorant and won't listen to you talk he over talks like he knows it all. I brought about 70 friends from The VA and Walgreens pharmacy with me to give Highland our business. Now most of them are already back at Walgreens. I highly recommend you don't use Highland. I get hung up on all the time after waiting 20 or 30 mins on the phone the drive up line is always a 30 min wait. The girls are always chatting and talking amo themselves and there's no more care for the customers. Slow service and long waits on hold. All I am trying to do is make a payment for a script and i get disconnected.

So this place has pulled me around for weeks trying to get my medication. I called every two days trying to get my refill put in, and each time they told me they'd send in a request for more refills. I called my doctor and sorted it out, but things did not get sorted out on Highland's end for some reason. I was a week behind on my injections because of them, but I kept patiently waiting for them to sort it out with the doctor. I left a review on google, which I deleted when they responded saying they were going to help me if I email their support with my info, which I immediately did. They never called me back. Two weeks comes up, and I've still called every two days asking whats going on. The woman answering the phone was nice but a tad stern, but the man that answered the phone for me today was the last straw. He said that the request still needed to be sent in, but that's what I'd been waiting for them to sort out and they'd not even sent it in this whole time? He was completely rude when I asked to just transfer my prescription to somewhere else, telling me that Highlands was the only place that had this medication. I called up my old pharmacy right after getting off the phone with him, and they had it AND were able to fill it within this same day. I'm so fed up with dealing with Highlands and now I'm two weeks behind on my injections for what seems like no reason. Not to mention you have to sit on hold for at least 10 minutes each time you call, which isn't the employees fault, but that man really rubbed me the wrong way after I was super understanding to them for two weeks only for him to speak to me in such a condescending way like I was some sort of idiot. Absolutely angered me after being so patient for two weeks for them, and I'm not the kind of person to easily get angry at people just doing their jobs. Emailing support was unhelpful, the people answering the phones were unhelpful and now I don't trust this place at all. Wouldn't be so upset if it weren't for that man whom was rude to me on the phone, which I noticed other reviews on google also spoke of. Seems I'm not the only one that was run off by him. I'm so angered by him talking to me like an idiot that I'm going to recommend to anyone and everyone I know to stay away from this place. The reviews are noticeably low and now I have experienced why. One review mentions them being bought by a Texas company and being completely gutted of old employees in exchange for lesser paid employees a few years ago, which feels like the missing piece of the puzzle here. The worst experience with a pharmacy I have ever had. Two weeks after hearing nothing from them, I called them and they said my one rx would be ready in 4 days. i still heard nothing. i tried to call. No one answered the phone 3x and was "on hold" 20 minutes each time so I went there 7 days later. They said "we canceled the rx because you didn't confirm." I said "how can I confirm if you didn't call?" They said "we called but we don't leave messages." Unless you possess super psychic powers coupled with a lot of time on your hands, go to Menaul Compounding. 100% better experience. I will never send another rx to them again. read more

A few weeks ago I was told that my regular pharmacy didn't have one of the medications I take daily. I called four other places and was told the same. Someone suggested that I contact Highland Pharmacy and I am so happy I did. I spoke to Leo who told me that there was a shortage of my particular off-brand medication, and then offered to find out if my insurance covered the name brand. Fortunately for me, my insurance did in fact cover the name brand, and I had my prescription filled. I wonder why no-one at any of the big-name pharmacies offered me that service. Ordered and called to pay and have shipped. The phones are busy so they suggest leaving a message that they call back within 24 hours. Someone did call and said they would process and ship. 3 days later they had charged me twice, two different amounts so I called. Item hadn't been shipped so I requested they cancel, after long hold they took care of that. Then I asked about two different charges and after another quite long hold they came back and took care of that. We have a regular Pharmacy that is wonderful, this was for a specialty Product. So they are slow and make mistakes but the person who helped me while putting me on hold for a long time, he was very professional and friendly. The call took over 20 minutes. What do I do for a rating? If it wasn't for him, I would give them a 1 star, he brought it to 3. He took care of the mistakes and did it in a Professional manner. read more

I've been having a prescription compounded here for almost 7 years now. It's a beautiful vintage looking pharmacy inside and that makes me smile every time I go in. I haven't ever used the drive up window, but they do have one and I see folks using it. As well as filling your prescriptions & giving flu shots, they sell cards, snacks, vitamins and various other related things. The staff is friendly and Ash, the pharmacist is knowledgeable and responsive. They've never gotten my prescription wrong either. There was a brief time where I think they changed owners/managers when things were rough, but that seems to have passed and things are smoother than ever. read more

I would give this a zero if I could. My daughter gets her medication here because unfortunately this is one of the only places that does compounded medication. However if I could choose a different place I would. The staff are what ruins the experience. I have to pick this medication up every month and typically I order through an automated service. There have been times when this does go through on their end and when I go pick it up, they have no knowledge of my prescription for my daughter. Well, this situation, I order my daughters medication and typically it's done in 2 days. I never received a call to let me know it is done, it has now been 5 days and I wanted to call and make sure they've gotten it. I was placed on hold for 10 minutes and finally had to hang up. I called back and they didn't answer. I tried again the next day and literally the same thing happened. I was on hold for about 11 minutes and finally hung up. This happened for 3 days!!!! I had to drive to the pharmacy just to ask if they got the refill request. A simple question that could have been answered over the phone. Once I got to the pharmacy they told me their phone is broken, I immediately got upset and told them, how come you put me on hold then? And she just said it was a system issue. Bullshit. But whatever. They let me know that they were just checking her prescription and it'll be done in 10 minutes. About 10 minuets later they come out and tell me they are behind and it'll be done at 5:30. I don't understand the professionalism in this place is a joke. They treat people like they are idiots. If you are in need of a pharmacy PLEASE look elsewhere. I am so frustrated I am going to report this business to the BBB. read more

Normally, I do not write reviews however, I feel my disappointing experience with Highland Pharmacy in Albuquerque, NM, today will be the catalyst to change. This latest encounter is very much the usual interaction with them. First the drive-thru is sorta in an awkward spot. They can't help that, but the fact that the line moves so slow, so cars stack up and have to block the entrance or parking spaces. One customer about every 15 minutes drive-thru. Go inside, I have never seen or spoken to the same counter clerk twice. This is usual: Me, I am here to pick up a prescription. Response: No I don't think we have that. Are you sure??? Back and forth. Finally... go look, and look, and look Oh yeah here it is but there is some problem which will take just a little longer. I believe it is only previous customers of the original Highland Pharmacy that are just hanging on... give them another chance. The current owners need to invest in some competent staff, answer the phone and act alive--- move. read more

Hi my name is Guadalupe Sandoval and I have been a patient with Highland Pharmacy for over five years now. And I for one can tell you that this pharmacy goes way beyond their expectations for their clients. The staff there is always been friendly and very nice to me Leo kicks butt and Julie she is one of the fastest ones there and Kim they're all experts at the fields there's a lot of people on the background but don't get thanked enough and Anthony for one he's awesome never had any issues if there is, they let you know, and go out of their way to make every prescription correct. The best thing to is that their pet friendly. Not to mention all the great deals they have on all the other items in their store. Great greeting wedding birthday cards as well got to check them out. Highland Pharmacy is always busy because they are the best in Albuquerque in my opinion and I gave them five stars I'll give them more if I could. You've got to give them a try. read more

I feel like I cannot even give a star for this pharmacy, if they would put negative stars on here it would be a negative 5 stars. We live in Southwest NM and my daughter had to have a compounded prescription. It went to this Pharmacy in Albuquerque. She paid for the RX over the phone, it cleared her back account, but no RX has been sent to her. She has called them several times and they say no payment made. It has cleared her account. I would present to the Pharmacy if asked, but they just keep trying to put the charge through causing many overdrafts to account. I feel that HIGHLAND PHARMACY STOLE $$$$$$ from my family. I scheduled my daughter to receive her covid booster at Highland Pharmacy thinking it would be a good experience. They made us wait over half and hour past our scheduled time, crowded in the little room with a dining room table instead of a comfortable waiting space. I don't know what was going on, but the nice nurse(?) who usually helps me was busy. The main Pharmacist had to come up from the back to do the shots and he seems very angry about it. He was extremely rude when we finally got called over. He jabbed my daughter in the arm and basically wanted us to get out. I asked about a bandaid and he snapped "she doesn't need it". I asked about the observation period and he seemed to not care about that either and was super angry. So we just left, and I will not be going back.
