I strongly encourage pet owners to seek other vets in the area before engaging with this practice…read more I was new to this community and they were a convenient location. As a lifelong pet owner who has worked with other quality veterinary practices over the years, I feel obligated to share my experiences so other pet owners can make informed decisions and protect their pets. My concerns are based on three separate incidents. First, when I brought my cat in for euthanasia, I was surprised that the veterinarian did not initially come in to discuss the process with me. Instead, I was asked to hand my cat over to a technician. During one of the most difficult moments a pet owner can face, I expected direct communication and guidance from the veterinarian. Second, I brought in a rescue dog that had recently come onto my property. During the examination, severe dental disease was apparently missed. Within a week, I sought a second opinion from another veterinary practice after noticing significant dental issues myself. That veterinarian determined that multiple teeth were severely diseased and ultimately removed four teeth. I was disappointed that such a significant problem was not identified during the initial examination. Third, I brought in a dog that had stopped eating. As many experienced pet owners know, a loss of appetite can indicate a serious underlying condition. Bloodwork was performed and an in-office ultrasound was conducted, but I was told nothing significant was found. My instincts told me something was seriously wrong, so I sought care elsewhere. Within days, my dog was evaluated at the University of Tennessee, where advanced cancer was discovered. Tragically, she passed away shortly thereafter. After Best Friends said she was fine (with 2 weeks she passed after the BF visit) I understand that veterinary medicine is not an exact science and that no doctor can diagnose every condition immediately. However, when viewed together, these experiences caused me to lose confidence in this practice. As well as other experienced pet owners I have met recently that said they have similar horrible experiences. My intention is not to criticize anyone personally. Rather, practice whenever their instincts tell them something is wrong, especially when dealing with serious illnesses, dental issues, or end-of-life care. Our pets depend entirely on us to advocate for them. Based on my experiences, I would strongly encourage prospective clients to carefully evaluate all of their veterinary options before choosing this provider.

Got home checked her incison and there was a 1 inch open wound next to her spay incison stitches. I was very upset and took her back to office for him to say it was a tattoo...well I don't think tatoos have cut skin that gaps open. I would not recommend this Vet, as others have stated, it is very unprofessional and unconcerned about your pet's health. Facilities looked dirty in back. Why couldn't he have told me about the "tatoo" when I was there?? I'm not stupid!

In the not-so-distant past, our dog was spending time at daycare. In the early afternoon, I received a text message from an employee (not management), stating an employee attempted to physically redirect my dog from humping another, and my dog bit them. The message included, "I discussed the incident with management and your dog is no longer welcome at daycare". With such an accusation as this, I was astounded that Laura/Officer Manager chose not to call me and offer a face-to-face discussion. Rather, I received such an insensitive update from a staff member, via text. The next day, I spoke with Laura via telephone regarding Embassy's dog bite policy. From the onset, her lack of professionalism and disrespectful tone toward me, spoke volumes. She flippantly responded, "I don't have the policy at my fingertips, I cannot recite it verbatim, and policies frequently change". The following day, I spoke via telephone with Mandy Swartz/Operations Manager of Emory, Westland, and Lenoir City locations. I asked valid questions; what time did the alleged bite occur, who was bitten, was medical care rendered, were there any witnesses, what type of training did the employee have, how long have they been employed, what part of my dog did they physically grab to redirect him, did anyone review the daycare yard camera footage to get a clearer understanding of the incident? Of those inquires, Mandy Swartz told me; the employee chose to remain anonymous, no skin was broken, no blood or fluid noted, and no medical care was rendered. Further, she stated the daycare yard camera does not replay footage. Why have it in place then? None of my other concerns were answered/resolved. In an effort to substantiate my concerns, I sent a detailed email to Mandy Swartz. A week or so went by with no reply; I sent the email a second time. Again, she made the conscious decision to ignore me, the consumer. I called the Westland location and left messages twice with staff, and again, she lacked moral courage to reply. In my humble opinion, reviews are intended to provide honest feedback on businesses in which potential consumers may be interested in. Before my husband and I enrolled our dog at Embassy Veterinary Center, Emory Road, we read reviews, spoke with neighbors, and this business seemed reputable. Unbeknownst to me, several of the 5-star reviews submitted were by Embassy employees, to include the Operations Manager, Mandy Swartz. Additionally, management responded positively to the employees reviews. This practice is unethical, deceiving to the consumer, and unprofessional, to say the least! These individuals who hold a title of management, have absolutely zero integrity. The incredibly high staff turnover rate of the front desk/daycare employees is a true reflection of the inept management, at so many levels. My husband and I are extremely grateful to all the employees who cared for our dog. Each and every day he was under their care, they displayed compassion, integrity, and always a smile on their face. They have all left this place of employment, and we could not be happier for them. Lastly, there are too many other daycare/boarding businesses in the Knoxville area to choose from. Embassy's number one concern is money, not the consumer or employees! Thank you!
