As a lifelong pet owner who has worked with other quality veterinary practices over the years, I feel obligated to share my experiences so other pet owners can make informed decisions and protect their pets. My concerns are based on three separate incidents. First, when I brought my cat in for euthanasia, I was surprised that the veterinarian did not initially come in to discuss the process with me. Instead, I was asked to hand my cat over to a technician. During one of the most difficult moments a pet owner can face, I expected direct communication and guidance from the veterinarian. Second, I brought in a rescue dog that had recently come onto my property. During the examination, severe dental disease was apparently missed. Within a week, I sought a second opinion from another veterinary practice after noticing significant dental issues myself. That veterinarian determined that multiple teeth were severely diseased and ultimately removed four teeth. I was disappointed that such a significant problem was not identified during the initial examination. Third, I brought in a dog that had stopped eating. As many experienced pet owners know, a loss of appetite can indicate a serious underlying condition. Bloodwork was performed and an in-office ultrasound was conducted, but I was told nothing significant was found. My instincts told me something was seriously wrong, so I sought care elsewhere. Within days, my dog was evaluated at the University of Tennessee, where advanced cancer was discovered. Tragically, she passed away shortly thereafter. After Best Friends said she was fine (with 2 weeks she passed after the BF visit) I understand that veterinary medicine is not an exact science and that no doctor can diagnose every condition immediately. However, when viewed together, these experiences caused me to lose confidence in this practice. As well as other experienced pet owners I have met recently that said they have similar horrible experiences. My intention is not to criticize anyone personally. Rather, practice whenever their instincts tell them something is wrong, especially when dealing with serious illnesses, dental issues, or end-of-life care. Our pets depend entirely on us to advocate for them. Based on my experiences, I would strongly encourage prospective clients to carefully evaluate all of their veterinary options before choosing this provider.

Very weird experience. Sunday morning my guinea pig passed away. Got online and saw that they…read moreopened at 8am. No answer on the phone for about an hour so decided to drive up there. Called again on the way and a very nice man named Mitchell answered and met us there. He said that she would be cremated the next day and we would get a call to pick up probably in the afternoon. It seemed like he really cared and understood what it was like to lose an animal. We asked what the office hours were and he said it's a family business and he's just up the road 10 minutes away and they will call and arrange a pickup time once everything is done. He accidentally overcharged us but even pulled cash out of his own pocket to make up for it. The next day I get a text from an unknown number with my name spelled wrong saying that my pet was finished yesterday and is ready to be picked up. I said great what time do you close today? The person who I now know is the owner texted me back and said well I'm leaving now. I texted back okay can I pick her up tomorrow? ....No response. Waited 35 minutes and I called the business. The owner Leia answered and she said she had left for the day. I said okay can I pick up in the morning? She said she had doctors appointments in the morning and wouldn't be available until after 12 and they close at 2. (In the middle of our work day). I told her that it's kind of been a weird experience with the business hours and the communication and being overcharged. I'm new to the area and now I'm kinda nervous. She said that the website was wrong and those weren't the right hours. (How would I know that?) She said I can be there today at 4:30. I said perfect my husband will be by. If things would have stopped there I wouldn't have left a review or been that upset. Instead 20 minutes later she calls me back. I thought she was changing the pick up time or to apologize. Nope she called to tell me she didn't like my tone and that I was ungrateful for all she had done for me. Not once on either call did she ever tell me that she was sorry for my loss ect. She said "Jesus Christ what do you people want from me?" I said all I want is to be able to pick up my ashes and I've been flexible with the time. I told her it was confusing to get a text to pick them up after she had already left for the day. She said "well that's how I always do it." She was very cold and rude. She then told me that legally she didn't even have to give me the ashes and she could hold them for several more business days. I don't even understand why she would threaten that. That's when I started to panic and wonder if I would even get my baby back. All I asked was when I could pick up and what the business hours were. I can't believe this is someone that owns a business working with bereaved people. I have four other guinea pigs and a dog and I'm sure I will be needing more services in the future so was hoping to find a good business to have a relationship with. Even though Mitchell was so sweet after reading other reviews and seeing that others have had similar experiences I don't feel comfortable being back. She should probably leave the customer service to her employees because threatening to hold the remains is unbelievable. I don't even understand why it escalated to that. My husband got there to pick up and the owner wasn't even there. Her employee was confused and said he had been there all day and she wasn't even there. I will say that I appreciated the foot prints, hair cutting, and the urn that was included. Again Mitchell was great but the owner was extremely over the top and rude. All of that was so unnecessary at a time where I'm already sad and going through losing a pet.

They were extremely sympathetic and made my wife and I feel like family as they took care of a member of our family. They were able to not only offer us the needed services, but also gave us options for available upgrades without pressuring us to get those upgrades. When we got Addison back the presentation was respectful and great care was taken to preserve her memory for our family. I would recommend them to anyone needing similar services.
