The bridge was built by the Town of Cedarburg to replace a number of periodically washed out bridges. Pine logs were cut and milled in Baraboo, fitted into place in a lattice truss construction with 3x10 inch planks secured by 2 inch hardwood pins, eliminating the use of nails or bolts, and floored by 3 inch planking. The Ozaukee County Board in 1940 coted to assume the preservation and maintenance of the bridge. While the bridge is not open for vehicular traffic and there is a concrete and steel bridge adjacent, you can absolutely walk the bridge or even bicycle it. The nearby park has benches and picnic tables and a building with a picnic shelter complete with power outlets and public restrooms. There's plenty of space in the park to spread out and enjoy the second, smaller bridge. Plenty of parking. This is a great spot for your photo ops and in fact a couple was getting their engagement photos done here when I visited. [Review 20675 overall - 245 in Wisconsin - 1656 of 2023.]

The water here is clean and fit for swimming, and tgere is usually always a lifeguard in the summer which is great! You can get down to the beach by either using the stairs or the trails to the side. The only negative part about this park is that it is currently undergoing construction which limits parking. Other than that, it is a place I would highly recommend everyone to visit in Milwaukee.

It's so vast, colorful, and inviting to kids of all ages. We have a toddler, and our nephew who is a similar age, was also with us. Sometimes playgrounds can be a little too high/advanced for their age, but All My Friends Playground has a wide selection of areas to play on, including lower and less intense obstacles. Tons of slides and swings, climbing gyms, merry go round, teeter totter, and more. Plus there is a massive (and wonderfully colorful) butterfly that spreads shade over the middle of the playground. Other great parts about this park: it's completely fenced in by a lovely pickets that are all engraved by local families. It keeps all the kiddos safe and contained. Also the squishy flooring is a huge plus. It's so comfy to run around on and makes for a safer place if anyone falls. Really love the creativity and fun that went into creating this new play area. The park has a nice pavilion area and clean, well-kept bathrooms, which makes it comfortable for longer visits. Throughout the trails and overlooks, there are several benches dedicated in memory of loved ones. These add a very touching and reflective feel to the experience and make it more than just a hike--it's a place to slow down and appreciate the moment. Overall, it's a beautiful, quiet place for nature, reflection, and lake views, and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Happy that a recent party invite brought us to this park, because we will be back! We visited the Pavilion located here, which has ton of picnic tables, bathrooms, and even a large kitchen space for hosting events. The open-air building is sat adjacent to the really lovely and large pond in the center of the park. There's a doc that sticks out, and plenty of benches so you can have your pick at where to sit and enjoy the nature. The park itself is pretty massive. Just so much wonderful greenspace. There's not just one, but two playgrounds here as well. Double-points for that! Will definitely plan to return, be it for a picnic, and event we host ourselves, of just to enjoy the great outdoors.

We attended the Wingspan and Wine event and it was a lovely evening in every way. Before entering…read morethe building, we were greeted with a bald eagle, his handler and another staff member introducing us with an abundance of interesting facts about the eagle. All of the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly have a passion and love for their roles at the nature center. The Wingspan and Wine event had a variety of wines to try, along with charcuteries, veggies, fruit and some desserts to munch on throughout the evening. The stars of the evening were the many different raptors we got to see up close and hear all about, all of which are clearly cared for and loved by all of the staff. The property itself is gorgeous and spacious. Visiting the Schlitz Audubon Center has been on my list for years and I'm so glad I was finally able to visit - now I can't wait to go back for more exploring and to see more of what they have to offer!

We live in the area but regretfully don't visit enough. Recently though, my son and I went for a morning to explore my nephew's school there. He's apart of their "Nature School" program for young kiddos (essentially a pre-kindergarten class). The coolest part? Most all of the classrooms are outdoors! The trails are stunning, winding through well-kept nature preserves, into the woods, past small ponds, and over little bridges. It really is a beautiful and calming place to be. You'll discover all kinds of ecosystems and wildlife along the way. The main lodge is lovely as well. Vast in size, make to a modern day log cabin. It's very clean and welcoming, offering mini museum-like exhibits of animals, a coffee/tea section, and even a gift shop. The staff are sweet and helpful, offering maps and guidance about the property. Highly recommend a visit to this nature center! Whether it's a planned group visit, attending their planned events and camps, or just a simple excursion on your own, it's a wonderful place to explore.

My son attended 'garden summer camp' here recently and he absolutely loved it. For context, he's four years old and the camp was 3 hours each morning for a week. His camp leaders were so sweet. He and the rest of the kiddos were able to explore so many different trails, discovered bugs and animals, and did daily crafts. Beyond camps and classes, you can attend various events and exhibitions here, or simply come to walk and explore the grounds. Very relaxing nature spot!

There was basically no signage outside so we just followed the GPS into what looked like private property and through the gates. Inside there was a parking lot and in the short distance a house. We entered the house and really didn't gather any information there. The guy working kinda just wanted to be on his computer. No gift shop, it was kind of bleak. I think they could do more here to promote the place and make money (I assume money couldn't hurt!) There are no walking paths, just grass. You are left to wander aimlessly as you choose through the property so we did. Lots of space between the sculptures so if walking is an issue, this place is not for you. My 13 year old really enjoyed the pond and wildlife. We saw a lot of frogs and a few turtles. I have to say, it's very pretty. But I do wish I had some more information to take home with me about the garden.
