It was centrally located on the property and had some of most beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We kicked off the trip with spa treatments. Note: appointments are a necessity (as far advance as possible) we lucked out with afternoon massage treatments. They were exceptional. Also you can't forget about the amenities. They are lovely! We dined at 4 restaurants on the property. Lunch at the spa cafe, drinks at Hummingbird over the fire, dinner at the Madison, and cocktails & soup at Four65. Needless to say, we look forward to another trip over the spring or summer.

Mitchell's Lodge fit the bill perfectly! Located in one of the only actual temperate rainforests in the Continental United States, you can imagine just how green and beautiful this place is. The grounds are well maintained. Parking is right outside your door. The rooms are not fancy by most standards, but very "mountain cabin" like and have plenty of room. Ours had a desk, small sitting table with chairs, a microwave and typical hotel size refrigerator. The staff was very polite and professional. We didn't have any issues during our stay so can't speak to how they deal with problems. They did offer a "continental breakfast" per se, but it was underwhelming. The fresh coffee was very good and always available. Just moments from downtown Highlands and minutes from the Cullasaja River, Bridal Falls, and other photo-worthy spots, at a very reasonable price point make this a great place to stay when you head this way!

We had a situation with our flights and could not check in on time. we called the hotel and told them we would be paying for both nights and checking in between 7-9am. Now she is refusing to check us in, saying we have to rebook. Looks like an unsafe discussing place anyway, would never want to stay, I used the restroom in the lobby and if that's any indication, GROSS!!!!
