Don't be concerned about the pets-welcomed experience if you're not a pet owner (we haven't been in nearly ten years); The Park on Main is kept immaculately clean and odor free, and you seldom, if ever, hear a bark. This is a wonderful, beautifully clean inn in downtown Highlands, NC. In the aftermath of hurricane Helene we were on our 5th day without power and the Park on Main kindly gave us a reduced rate and allowed us to stay day to day until our power was restored. I'm sure those of us who are pet owners have been subjected to less than stellar pet accommodations but this inn is equal to any non-pet establishments I've stayed in. It is meticulously clean and provides all the amenities for a very comfortable stay (large walk in shower, robes, coffee maker, refrigerator, separate living area, sitting area on balcony and much more). And, the dogs get amenities too including a comfy bed and dog bowls. We can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff; they actually cheered for us when we got the news the power was back on. I will definitely be recommending the Park on Main to all visitors to the area. read more

Cannot believe how nice, charming and CLEAN this pup friendly hotel/inn is!! We left out four boxer babies at home and have never wanted to have them on vacation with us more! Every need pups and people would require is met! Walked into the lobby and there are cookies (for both dogs and humans) and drinks, decorated with dog pictures everywhere along with a greeting from Molly, the new dog adopted from the shelter When we arrived in our extra cozy room there was a very spacious suite with a living room, (of course a dog pillow and bowls) with mini fridge and so clean!!! The bedroom in the back had a comfy bed with a balcony along with extra soft, plush robes! This hotel is an absolute delight!! We arrived on a stormy evening with our pup at the end of February. We were welcome by friendly staff in the most cozy of lobby/living rooms. There was a roaring fire, tray of cookies for us and a bowl of treats for or pup. At check in Piper ( our pup ) was gifted a bag with a toy and a dog cookie in the shape of the hotel mascot, Mr. Pickles. We booked the King Suite on the Courtyard level. The room was incredibly spacious and updated. Nice sized living room, bar and mini fridge. Beautiful bathroom and very comfortable bedroom with a small balcony. We loved all of the canine decor! The entire hotel, rooms and grounds are very clean. Breakfast is offered in the morning. Excellent selection along with a fully stocked coffee bar and beverage fridge. The entire town is dog friendly, we had some incredible food and everyone we met was friendly to us! Highly recommend this charming hotel in Highlands! Can't wait to return. read more

Loving this dog friendly hotel! I had the rare opportunity to stay here with a client's dog and they covered the cost. I have a queen mezzanine level suite and there is more than enough room for me and Sofia (the retriever). Luckily the bed is a good size because I learned the first night that Sofia is a bed hog (a dog bed is provided, and water bowl). Everything was clean when I arrived and the staff has been excellent. The outside courtyard is gorgeous and a great place to sit and get some work done or relax. The POM also provides a continental breakfast. There is a dog park right around the block on the corner. There are dog portraits and decor all over. This place is a dog's vacation paradise (Highlands is extremely dog friendly!)! read more

We came to visit Highlands with our two large pups and couldn't be happier having stayed at the Park on Main. The location is convenient in the center of town. The hotel staff is very accommodating, friendly and welcoming, Everything was above and beyond our expectations. The hotel room was spacious and sparkling clean with no evidence of previous pets having ever stayed there. Dog beds, dog bowls and treats were provided and the cute Mr. Pickles dog park was just down the street so every need was taken care of. Plush robes and heated bathroom floors, a mini fridge, balcony and divinely comfortable bed made this a luxury experience. The serve yourself breakfast was first rate, we really enjoyed being able to sample the local bakery goods that were fresh and delicious. Pleasant, very quiet room withoutside entrance. No elevator to second floor. Sink area with adjacent shelving is very compact. No more than 2 people could manuever the area. Beds and pillows were fabulous! Very clean. Brandon at front desk was extremely helpful with check out. Would consider staying again. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It's better than any place we've stayed in Highlands (the "fancy" hotel included)! We happened to have my 9 lb pup with us, but even if you don't have a pet, it's the best place in Highlands! The rooms are perfect and super clean! The gorgeous rugs, sofa, chairs, bedding, are as if they've never allowed pets. The courtyard is quiet and quaint with privacy. We told them we were not bringing our dog when we made a reservation and walk-in in to find a l very large dirty dog bed in the room taking up way too much floor space. While We are animal lovers this was very unappealing. No valet or Bell service. After coming from another truly luxury hotel with excellent service this has been extremely disappointing. If You Dont want to carry your own bags, park your own car and look at huge dirt dog beds in your room, don't come here. read more

Unique boutique dog-friendly hotel. The theme is everywhere- Dog art in the lobby, dog beds and bowls in every room. Strong attention to personal messaging, custom welcome letter in the room, personal ID on the phone made a great impression. Little touches from soft-close drawers, lush towels, and honey mango charcoal soap make all the difference in the bathroom. Rooms extremely clean. The only complaint is that the bed is crowded into the bedroom- so much so you couldn't fully open the closet without bumping the door into the bed. We had suite 108, with a nice view of the courtyard in front and off the balcony in back. Generous Continental Breakfast in the lobby. Off-season rate under $150 with tax. We loved our stay at the Park on Main and would definitely go back. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and accommodating. They were happy to provide recommendations on places to eat around town. We were able to bring our pugs who received toys and treats upon arrival. The rooms were super nice, loved having a separate living space. The hotel is located right in town so easily walkable to all of the restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting the highlands and wanting to be close to town. A very pricey hotel that is more like a roadside motel when it comes to quality. We stayed there three nights and it was a very inconvenient stay! First night after check-in: 1) bathroom sink was stopped up and draining very slowly 2) no blankets provided with sheets for fold-out bed though the room was for a family of four Second evening 3) dirty glasses were not replaced/ no clean glasses provided 4) yellow stains on some washcloths and handtowels Third evening 5) dirty towels not replaced 6) dirty glasses still not replaced with clean ones 7) empty kleenex box with no replacement or extra in room Spent almost a thousand dollars and would have been better off staying at a much cheaper hotel in Franklin a few minutes away. read more

I'm a frequent visitor to Highlands and have stayed in other properties in town and nearby, but this was my first stay at Park on Main. The property is definitely nice, with a cozy lobby space/sitting area, heated parking garage (free), and well appointed rooms. We were in a king room which adjoined another room/suite. The sound isolation was not at all adequate, as we were able to discern entire conversations that were taking place next door. Also, there were no blackout curtains/drapes on the single window which was adjacent to an outdoor light in the corridor outside. That being said, the location on Main Street is excellent and the price was competitive. The continental breakfast (which was included) was definitely more than I was expecting. Overall, a great value for the area. read more

I'm so disappointed with the way they handled my 2nd stay this year. We came in February and had a wonderful time.. we came back in May and noticed a card in the room saying with your 2nd stay you would get 10% off. Since no one mentioned that to me I asked John the GM if I could have the discount after I checked in. He said he would take care of it. I didn't hear anything and when checking out I was presented with a bill and no mention of a credit. When I inquired I was told someone would get back to me. Later I received a call saying because I made the first reservation thru Expedia they would not Honor the card mentioning the discount. It's not about the money now, but when you spend $350-400 I expect to be treated like a valued guest. Not to be completely ignored. I would have been back in October and 2-3 times a year. There are other fine hotels in Highlands where I'm sure my stay would be valued more than this place. read more

The Park on Main is an absolutely fantastic boutique hotel in a perfect location in Highlands, NC. When you stay here at the Park on Main, you are right in the middle of everything. All outdoor activities are very close and you are a short walk to all the shops and restaurants. The staff are super friendly & helpful and the rooms are large, clean, and very comfortable. We brought our Boston Terrier along with us and not only do they allow dogs, they cater to them. Water bowls, dog beds...they go out of their way to make your four legged family member feel welcome. Our little guy felt like a celebrity. If you are not a dog person, I really don't think you would even notice because the property is so quiet and comfortable. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be staying here when we return to Highlands! read more

Stunning B&B! My husband and I stayed here last weekend. We didn't realize it was a dog friendly hotel, we just wanted a less expensive alternative to the very costly Old Edwards Inn. We weren't sure what it would be, but we love Highlands and took a chance. The customer service from the front desk is spectacular. We arrived and were able to check in early. The front lobby is a love to letter to dogs- large, grand portraits of different breeds, large velvet curtains, hardwood floors, fresh flowers. We were very impressed. Then we got to our room- WOW!!! We were upgraded to a bigger suite for free. I believe it was the King suite. The room was HUGE and had hardwood floors throughout. The bathrooms had marble tops and pretty fixtures, and had marble tiles (which are heated in the winter!). We had a sitting room in our suite that had a large couch, real leather ottoman, two flat screen tv's, the works. The bed was gorgeous down to the mascot pillow, the Scottish terrier "Mr. Pickles." This hotel just ROCKS. They also have complimentary dog bowls, beds, and crates. There is a courtyard outside with fountains and sitting areas, which all had cute dog statues. There is a play/potty area for the dogs onsite too. We didn't bring our dogs, but we will next time! We fell in love with the details in this hotel. Everything down to the scottish terrier soap was perfect. There was a complimentary Keruig in our room, and we had complimentary breakfast in the morning. We only heard the next door neighbors' dogs once or twice, which you would expect from a hotel with dogs. It was still was very peaceful. The best part is this location is perfect for walking up and down the strip at Highlands to go shopping and dining. We had the most relaxing time. We are definitely going back!
