The playground at Highlands Church is so wonderful! It is right down the street from my parents home, so my 1 year old and I spend a lot of time here while we were out in Arizona. The Church grounds are so beautiful. The kid's playground is planted right in the middle it and is open to the public Monday through Saturday. It is completely covered and shady, perfect for the Arizona heat. It's also turf, which is great for babies who fall a lot :) The playground is more suited for children 1-6(ish) - I could see it being a little boring for anyone older. I love that there are parts more geared towards little babies and other areas more suited for the "big kids". My boy loved the slides, making music with the instruments, and playing with the steering wheel. For the warmer months, there is also a splash pad! We had so much fun here, and I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Well, I wasn't gonna do this, but I just feel that it's really important when you find a Church that you feel like you connect with and you do everything to try to connect to that Church and that Church does not reach out to you the way they say or portray its very discouraging. I came 4 Sundays ago drove 45 min, filled out an outreach. No one has bothered to call, then I had my 2nd outreach taken by one of the pastors younger gentlemen, who was going to escalate it to Pam. Pam was going to call me never heard from Pam. I've left three messages on the general mailbox trying to reach somebody to connect to this Church and to this day going on my 4th Sunday (1 month later) no one has reached out. I find this really heartbreaking. do churches get too big that they don't have enough time? Sorry really disappointed. read more

I have been going here for 10 months. Since Ihave attended This Worship Center I know i have grown as a Christian and in the process i am being Discipled by a Brother Larry B! Joined a Men's Small Group that is dedicated to presenting the various pluses of Discopleship! Jeffrey T, who leads this group also trains For 6 months ; those men and women who are in adminostering to Members who are having isusses that may be blocking their Spiritual Energy. I went there in second and third grade and it was ok. I was in the special needs ministry and Missy Farrington was really cool. I went back there again back in high school. I didn't have the greatest experience because people weren't being very understanding and I was wanting to be as cool as students and leaders. It also gave me a horrible reputation. There was a bright side of being in the high school ministry. Some students were super nice and a lot of them went to my school, Pinnacle. The music there is amazing for sure! The scary part is that Les Hughey, the ex pastor is a monster because of what he did to a group of teenagers! read more

This church is my favorite. From the congregation to the pastoral staff to the building it is the best. I started attending this church in March 2021 and still attend in Nov. I love how they teach everything from the Bible and have church on Thursday evenings as well. They have a rotation of pastors who give the sermon but every one of them is a talented public speaker that Can captivate the audience and deliver the message timely. They have a sermon series that they build off of for multiple weeks like many churches. The music here is what hooked me. They put so much effort into worshipping God through song that it truly emotionally moves you participation and surrender. I went on the discover highlands tour and learned about the campus and what it has to offer for kids, youth and special needs. This church literally thinks of everything and has plans to build a special needs playground outside on campus. I recommend this church to everyone who lives in the valley or has plans to move here. read more

We love it for the community, classes and small groups. Great family, kids and young adults programs! All of the teaching is solidly biblically based and they only teach straight from scripture. A big plus! We're sold! They also do a LOT in the community and for outreach. Their teaching in small groups is accessible to new believers and the mature Christian. This is very hard to find and one of the reasons we're not going anywhere else. Negatives? Sure. Every church has them. We are hoping a more challenging and dynamic preacher can be brought into the mix. Fix this and you get 5 stars. The preaching is a snooze 1/2 the time and leaves little impact. (One preacher doing better than the other but we won't publicly shame anyone). Also we have been in the book of Luke for what feels like a decade but has only been ~10 months (40 Weeks!!!). The Sunday morning services are enlightening and well taught, but the size of the church as well as the congregation is overwhelming. As I am a youth student, I attended several of the youth gatherings on Wednesday nights, and the only thing I could appreciate were the sermons, also very well taught. The other students were incredibly unfriendly, clique, and there were no group activities to speak of, so I go left out - not something that should happen at a church. Did not appreciate the small group leaders as one seemed clueless and the other was very young, immodest, and clique herself. In small groups, the message was not discussed, they only chatted about other unrelated things, all while, me, still being left out, wondering when we would be done. We got let out late. I do not recommend this church if you are a teenager, looking for a solid community and friends, because that would not be achieved here. I felt very bothered by the lack of community. Sermons are great though, wish I had the oppurtunity to leave right after. Oh, not to mention my brother experienced weird interactions with other students his age. Very sexual and homosexual jokes were being made, and no serious conversations surrounding God. read more

I have been going to Highlands Church since before 2010. It is my home to worship God and Love People. The Pastors & staff are compassionate & caring and they bring the Bible teachings & verses into the present to make people understand how it relates to us in 2021 & beyond. You feel at home and comfortable with how the services are structured with music & the pastors messages. I drive from I-17 & Carefree Highway to attend services. The children's programs including children with disabilities is wonderful & the Night to Shine for the disabled children is magical plus the many family events like Christmas Eve, Easter, Truck Town & the 4th of July Celebration are awesome for all young & old families. Highlands gets 5 STARS from me. read more

I started going a few years ago after my girlfriend invited me. What a great church! The music is up beat and changes each week based on the message. The activities they do through out the year are top nauch. So much fun and so many great people. I recommend if you are in the area to check it out. You won't regret it. read more

Visited for a Sunday service to check this church out. Music was great a little bit of well known songs and a mix of new ones which is appreciated to have variety and great songs to worship to. The message was about spiritual warfare on Ephesians a very well known passage on the Armour of God. The lead Pastor did a great job of displaying the truth of Ephesians and sharing it in a digestible, understanding manner. But that's just the thing after being a Christian for awhile I am looking for something deeper. I may visit this church again, but I am looking for messages more challenging/ revealing. read more

This is an AWESOME church! The pastors do an amazing job teaching from the Bible and the music is incredible! As for the other details... The campus is beautiful with a good amount of parking. As you walk in the doors, the greeters make you feel welcolmed right away. And it doesn't matter if you're in shorts and a t-shirt or Sundays best, all are welcomed. read more

Highlands Church fired its founder and head pastor, Les Hughey, two weeks ago. For a while their website had an update on the situation and provided the opportunity to ask questions by email. Now, however, the update has been deleted along with any mention of the Hughey issue. In the meantime, charges against Hughey are pending and no one seems to know his whereabouts. read more

I highly recommend going to this church! It is Bible Based and to the point! The kids program is great my 5 year old loves going to Sunday School. The welcome is warm but not in your face. Your fireworks on a Sunday night are obnoxious and not appropriate for a church. Fireworks are NOT legal in Scottsdale so I guess you believe you are above the law and deserve a special permit. I have been attending this church for over a year. We started going because my son wanted to be able to get to know a girl that went to a different High School than he did and this was a chance for him to see her. Not the best reason but...it turned out that we LOVED this place. What I like most is that they are not constantly asking for money. They do not pass a plate for offering. They have slots at the back near all of the entrances and you can slide in whatever you want, whenever you want. No one watches to see that you put something in, and how much. I also love the music, I find myself humming the songs all through the week. Their video announcements are really clever, creative and humorous. We went to the meet the pastor dinner and were there with probably 30 other people. It was really nice to hear their philosphy and it was all very low key, not pushy. I appreciated that. read more

More stars are needed to celebrate how wonderful this church is in so many ways. They are bible based, love Jesus and just non-stop worship in song and word. The people share the preachings and are so welcoming. They offer bible studies. and several life groups to interact. I've never really been to such an amazing church and I was raised in church. They teach the word in a way that brings out more than I've heard. I'm so thankful to have found the church and hope you can visit, as well. It's just wonderful. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! I'm in the high school group and everyone seems to be very friendly especially my pastor, Michael Baker. The musical worship is so great! I love the way you get to sing and worship the almighty lord at the same time! We even read verses in the bible and after we do that, we break into discussion groups by gender and grade and we get to talk about what we read in the bible. We usually talk about getting out of our comfort zones and how God comforts you and so and so. Going there almost every Sunday and Wednesday makes me feel like I'm very close to God. read more

I love this church! Amazing worship with very talented leaders. Scripture is important here. I love how the Pastors always refer to the word of the Bible. I love their messages and their music. They also have many opportunities to connect with other people. Small groups and groups for every age, which is the way you will really get to know others in the church. Love their Wednesday nights! The Pastor/Teacher Les Huey is a gifted Man of God.....a sound and mature Teacher of the Word. I would say that one of Les' many giftings is that he is able to speak the Truth of The Word with absolute authority, yet with love while showing me how to walk it out in everyday life. I never leave a service at Highlands without wearing something positive that I didn't have on when I walked in. Highlands and Les is responsible for making me a better "me".
