Highport Marina is just that too high... Paying 900 a month for a 40ft slip is ridiculous and everything else is high there too

Patty Melt consisted of 3 red onion rings on top of an overcooked hamburger patty on rye bread with dressing. Patty Melts are made with plenty of white or yellow sautéed onions smothered on burger. No manager ever came to our table to apologize even though we never sent it back but showed waitress who said she would address the problem with manager and kitchen. Then they charged us a higher price for a menu drink which we addressed and they fixed as well as charging my husband for a cheese replacement( pepper jack instead of cheddar). If you're looking for a scenic, picturesque place to have some lunch/dinner and some drinks, this place fits the bill. Gorgeous views and indoor or outdoor seating available overlooking the marina. The food is not anything to write home about, but munching on some burgers on a beautiful day kind of makes the lack of superior cuisine irrelevant. My hamburger was good, but on the well-done side and a little dry. The sweet potato fries were just like little waffles of chewy rubber. Not good. The regular fries and the onion rings were much better...I would order the fries again. My Bloody Mary tasted like it was made with dirty water and it was tempting to toss it in the lake. Being the good sport that I am, I drank it anyway. Of course we will return for the glorious views, but next time might skip the food and cocktails and stick to snacks and cold beer! We have been taking the same family boating trip for 7 years now at Highport. We take it the exact same day and time each year....12pm-6pm. My family comes to visit me in Dallas from Chicago and Oklahoma and we drive out to Pottsboro. I booked our boat rental on their direct website back in May. The new management is horrifying! Brittany tried to get us to cancel the second we walked in for our rental. She said a "huge storm was coming directly for us, hail and everything" and that if we cancel we can get a full refund but if we decide to take it out and have to come back because of a storm we get no refund. My dad looked at the weather and said the storm was no where near us, so we told her we would take our chances. There was no one else at their marina (now I know why!) it was so obvious they didn't want us to stay and have to wait around on us. We had a great day out on the boat (beautiful weather too) until Brittany called us. Before anyone said anything at all she started yelling, cussing, and threatening us...she said we were late and she was going to call the patrol to tow us back and she was charging us $50 every minute we were late. What on earth?! I could barely get out the words "our contract is until 6pm" before she cut me off yelling she sees it but it's a glitch in their system they close at 4pm. The entire phone conversation was draw dropping ...she was on speaker while my entire family of 10 listened to her. (I can still go on their direct website and book a boat until 6:30pm...so doesn't seem to be a glitch in their system). We got back to the dock and there she was stomping and yelling on the dock as we tried to gather our things and get off. The dock boys were very kind, and apologized 100 times for her behavior and said they heard her phone conversation and couldn't believe how she was acting. My husband told me to go to the car because I was carrying my daughter who was sleeping, but as I was walking away they came to get me because Brittany refused to talk to anyone except for me who made the reso and said she didn't want to talk in front of "all of these people" who were just my family members. She told my husband to get me and she would apologize. I walked back in with my daughter in my hands and listened to two seconds of her yelling and throwing her hands around and walked right back out with only saying one thing "have a wonderful day." The whole experience was jaw dropping. Will be looking for a new marina for our yearly trip. I suggest you stay far away from this place until they replace Brittany! read more

Great restrooms! They're clean and well stocked. Gas attendants help you dock, pay, and fill up.

We rented a pontoon from Highport marina. The first time we used the ladder it snapped in half. We notified them instantly and they told use not to worry about it until we came back to the dock. They are charging us $300 extra dollars for a faulty ladder that they did not check. The assistant manager was rude and walked away and said he didn't want to deal with us. I would not trust them to rent another boat. read more

The executives at highport Marina made a false promise to a disabled combat veteran. They promised to build a dock to accommodate for the handicap. They also promised they were going to have people assist in helping me launch and recover my boat. Something I can't enjoy that often because of my injuries I sustained in combat. When I showed up with the boat they completely denied assisting me. I've tried to reach out to the owner and the executives and they refused to call me back. Keep in mind I've never had a slip at Highport, but I frequent Highport every time I'm at Texoma. This is THE place to be on Texoma if you're looking for restaurants and nightlife. Highport has two restuarant/clubs. During the summer there is almost always some type of live outdoor music as well. And its not uncommon to find a few dock parties going on as well. The slip pricing is a little higher than other marinas on the lake, but by the same token most marinas don't have as much going on. Highport is also a short boat ride from The Islands, a popular party spot. read more

So far, we think that this is the most popular launch spot on the lake. We haven't covered the whole lake yet but, so far, that is the way it looks. It cost $5 cash to launch here. They have year round passes but they aren't economical for the summer boater. The ramp is very, very good and can handle up to four launches at a time though most often people are more comfortable with three at a time. Launching here is an art form. Except for the occasional idiot or jerk, people launch and trailer here with amazing speed and efficiency. I have only once seen one guy (with a boat that cost more than my house) take up a spot for 45 minutes because it wouldn't start. So it does happen. But this is not a place to practice launching. Know what you are doing and "get er done". This place is always hopping. Usually there is plenty of trailer parking but sometimes, like holidays, you may end up parking your trailer on the grass. If you are in a car, please do not take up a trailer space with your subcompact. Arghhh! That is soooo frustrating. The only down side to launching at Highport is there is an extremely long no-wake zone getting out of the marina and the gas dock bites compared to Buncombe's. Still, there's lots of neat things to see as you make it through the no-wake zone. People have "done up" their slips with bars and kitchens and artwork. I am in awe of the huge boats moored here. As for gassing up, it is a self serve pump and you have to pay first and then fight other boaters for the hose. Well, you have to sit and stew when some other boater jumps in front of you even though it was obvious that you were next up. Also, we like to go out on a wave runner and Highport only has a platform for jet skis with two spaces and, on a busy weekend, will take up the spaces with rental jet skis. I highly recommend launching here and popping over to Buncombe marina to gas up. read more

We so enjoyed our time at Highport! We rented a pontoon boat for 8 hours on a Friday. The marina was clean and very well kept. The check in process was super quick and easy (it was a slow time for the lake but still impressed!). I did get a little worried because I never received a confirmation email that our reservation was secured but it all ended up just fine. About 6 hours into our trip, on our way back in for the day, our engine went out. We ended up having to call the marina and they came out within 25 minutes. They brought a mechanic to see if it could be fixed so we could enjoy the rest of our time. We did need to be towed but Dillon the mechanic and Michael were so nice and helpful! They refunded us a portion for the trouble which was very nice. We would definitely go back and despite the engine trouble, highly recommend. read more

We are new to boating, and while this season has not been what we were expecting (rain, rain everywhere!), we have been super impressed with Di and the rest of the crew at Highport in their heroic efforts to keep catastrophe at bay as best as possible. Emergency services, communication, calm demeanor, and simple reassurance has all been plentiful! These guys lost a brand new $12k Jet Ski after getting it re-keyed. They have been passing the potato for years now. No other service center has record of the VIN for the key replacement. (only one in town that can do it) They lost the Jet Ski while in their possession and have blamed everyone and everything else except for taking responsibility for poor records and management them selves. We camped out in a Motorhome there at the rv campground in July 2011. The campground is all gravel as it appears to have been previously used as a parking area for the boat trailers. There are full hook ups and 50amp electrical service. Beware, the place is over populated with ants. We woke up the first morning with ants crawling all over us and all over the outside of our motorhome, and I mean All Over, inside and outside. We drove to the office and told the woman at the desk and she sort of laughed and said we have ants here too. They never treated the campground while we were there. We went and spent $60.00 to treat the outside and inside of our motorhome to try and get rid of them. There is no security there. The camground is away from the marina with no one around. There were home made signs, written with a permanent marker posted at the entrance which said lock your vehicles, lock your trailers, and load your guns !! The other sign said Attention Theif, you have been photographed and the Grayson County Sheriff is after you.There were no cameras around so I assume this was a warning to scare theifs. After we looked around, we saw a travel trailer which appeared to have the living room window busted out. There were only 4 campsites occupied there for the weekend. I guess we know why now. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. WE FEARED FOR OUR LIVES ! read more

I used to love highport, however after keeping our 38' carver santego there our flat screen tv in the cabin and our outside speakers at the helm were stolen and were almost positive it was the workers at highport. We have met just about everyone else in our dock and they have more respect and not to mention there own money to steal. The inside of the boat was also trashed, half entry liquor bottles, wine bottles and beer bottles were scattered everywhere along with every item that was put away in drawers or cabinets. And to top it all off they left a nice little (or rather big) number two in the toilet!!!! DO NOT USE HIGHPORT TO STORE YOUR BOAT!!! They have absolutely no respect for their customers. We love Highport. Our boat is actually at a different marina, but we regularly come to Highport for the food and fuel dock store. The recent flooding has kept us away which has been a big disappointment to our summer. We love how Highport is still trying to accommodate their customers through all the trials this season. As soon as the fuel dock reopens, we will be coming to shop. In addition to getting gas and a much needed pump out, we will also be shopping for apparel and home accessories. After reading Dominique's review, i felt like I had to post my own. We keep our boat there as well, and I don't know why she feels it's the Highport workers that trashed her boat and stole equipment. We have met all the workers there, and have been treated with only respect and courtesy. I have a suspicion that some of the weekend partiers that are guests of members were the culprits, as we see a lot of teens and college aged kids there unaccompanied by adults all the time. Their mechanics have been on our boat several times during the week when we weren't there, and nothing of ours has ever been touched. Many people have their large screen tv's and speakers mounted in their slips, and nothing has been stolen except liquor and beer when someone forgets to lock up their fridge. Crime happens everywhere, but it's unfair to blame the employees when something happens without having evidence of their guilt. read more

Would like to share our recent experience on July 4th. We called and made a reservation the second week in June for a four hour boat rental to begin at 1pm on the 4th. We called the marina on 7/3 around 3pm to confirm our reservation and we were told the boat would be ready when we arrived on the 4th. This day was to be a very special occasion, as our daughter from Germany and her fiancee would be in town for a few days and wanted to see Lake Texoma. As our group of eight arrived in the marina parking lot at 12:10 pm on the 4th, we received a phone call from a young lady at the marina who said "I hate to tell you this but we do not have a boat for you." We asked what the problem was, as our reservation was made weeks ago and even confirmed the day before. She told us that one of their boats had broken down the day before, therefore there would be no boat for us. I asked to speak to a manager and she said there was none available, which is hard to believe on the July 4th holiday. I asked her what time the boat had broken down on the 3rd and was told 1pm. I told her I didn't understand why our reservation had been confirmed the day before and found it ridiculous that we were being called 40 minutes prior to our reservation time. Her response was simply "I'm sorry". I asked her if she had or would contact other marinas for us to get another rental and was told I would have to call myself. She did say that she might be able to work something out for us on July 5th. Our family from Germany departed on the 5th so that wouldn't help. We were paying double the normal rates for this rental and booked this trip weeks in advance. We drove over an hour to get there only to be told "Sorry, you don't have a boat". I think the lack of any attempt to seek and provide us with some sort of resolution and total lack of empathy was inexcusable. We will no longer do business with this marina and I have no doubt they could care less. I just want there to be an awareness of this situation so others who have planned such a special event will be cautious and be prepared with a Plan B if you do use this marina. read more

Have low expectations. The workers at the dock are of low quality and are not very keen of looking after rental equipment. For example, the jetskis and boats are often left dirty after returning to port, and it may take up to an hour just to complete the paperwork for renting a craft. Otherwise, the workers always seen to have an excuse for slow, lackluster service. Take with it what you will, come with patience and hopefully your experience will differ. read more
