One of the best experiences we had while in Interlaken was here at Hightide where we scheduled our kayak tour. "The Beach", Hightides home base was a super cool building with lots of amenities which were unfortunately closed due to it still being winter season.. I'd love to see it In The summer. We were greeted by Carl where he was super inviting as he joked and got to know us personally making the experience that much more enjoyable. He set us up with gear which was all new feeling and great quality and we went on our way. He gave us a little tutorial and we began paddling. Halfway through we stopped for tea and cookies along the rocks where we were then able to get to know Carl and the area even more! We then paddled back to The Beach to complete our tour. We took off the gear and parted ways after we gave him our email to send us the many fantastic photos he took of our group.

Absolutely amazing experience! Karel and Jolien were so fun and knowledgeable! The views were breathtaking and the photos we received at the end definitely captured the beauty! We were able to take a dip in the lake which was a tad chilly but also refreshing during the sunny day! The homemade cookies Jolien baked for us were a pleasant treat and we enjoyed them while playfully quizzing Karel on the heights of each peak. 11/10 would recommend! Definitely coming back in the wintertime to see the different landscape! #boatarms

My bride and I visited Interlaken this weekend and attended the Hightide Kayak School. It was absolutely fantastic and I recommend it to local visitors (we came from Basel) or to visitors Internationally. Our instructor, Maria, was absolutely phenomenal. We spent 2+ hours on the lake and it was relaxing, good exercise, and so fun to sightsee from the water! Enjoy your kayaking! Cheers!

This Boat Rental here offers a nice range of boats in different classes. There are sailboats and…read moremotorboats in different sizes and price ranges. And you will need a licence for most of them. But now some good news in case you don't have a boat permit: There are three types of boats you can rent without it. First we have the "Pedalos". Holding 4-5 people....powered by your legs. It works like riding a bike, but a bit more strength necessary. Two can actually do the work (or one alone) and the others are passengers. But since I'm not that much into physical work when it comes to boating I prefer to go for one of the other options. There are two kind of motorboats you can rent without permit. One type is called the "Yamarin", a smaller boat holding up to 5 people. Easy to drive and navigate and with sufficient speed. 60CHF an hour ... getting less the longer you rent it. A fun little boat and our favorite if you are just 2-3 persons. Then they offer the boat named "Pontoon" which holds up to 8 Persons. Costs 100CHF an hour. Seems steep, but if you are above 4 passengers, then it's not too bad. And it's a nice boat. Lots of space to sit, a ladder to go for a swim and a sunroof (which you could fold down as well). Engine is powerful enough to have some fun around the lake. It's more of a party boat I'd say. Both motorboats are great options I think and reasonably priced. I like the smaller one, but might be a bit too shaky if you get seasick easy...and there's no sunroof, so bring some sunscreen. The bigger boat is great for a party on the water, have some food and a couple of beers, but it's less fun when it comes to driving. On the pedalos there's a deposit (with full refund) of 20CHF. 100CHF deposit for the motorboats. Life vests are provided (but you don't necessarily have to wear them). And the two motorboats described above are also dog friendly! Bring your furry friend with (our Bulldog had a blast). This is always the spot I go to when I want to rent a boat for a couple of hours. It's easy, it's conveniently located and the boats are in good condition. And you're allowed to drive - with the motorboats - almost on the whole lake (but it's a big lake, make sure you get back in time). Just be careful of the big passenger motor and steam vessels! You have to make way for them. They take reservations, but only if you rent a boat for a whole day. It can get busy here on sunny days. So you might have to wait for a boat to become available.

If you would like you can rent a boat without a license on a Sunday this is the place to go to …read more One hour is CHF 70.- and you would need to fill out a form and leave a deposit of CHF 200 / € 200. The wait is usually about 30minutes to an hour however, there is a lovely lounge built on the Lake where you can order a refreshing Aperol or Weiss Wein Spritzer for about CHf 12.- The speed boats are quite small ( single engine) and can hold a maximum of 4 people. We joked that it felt like a water "TukTuk"; for those who travel in Asia will understand that reference. An hour was enough time to explore the lake from Bellevue passed China Garden area. It really was a great way to see the city and also give visitors an idea of how people love to spend their summers in Zürich. You can see many swimming halls ( Badis) and boats/ paddle boarders etc... I would recommend taking some towels, swim suit and water bottles because you are allowed to jump into the water during the time you rent the boat. I saw some people take some beers and snacks on the boats too which is always a good thing. Don't wear anything fancy or even shoes you mind getting wet; the boats is pretty wet from everyone using it and jumping in and out of the water. Barefoot the whole experience ;)

There's no fee to watch them making the glass in the factory. I believe some of the interactive displays such as the musical glass is something you can do as well. I think it's the museum, make your own glass section, and the mirrored maze that costs extra. We were on a tour that included the museum. It was all cool to see the historical flasks and decanters on display. All made at this factory since 1817. It's a traditional art that has been passed down for many generations. There are 2 shops. One is their storefront where I saw a glass fondue stand and lots of autumn décor. The other shop is an outlet with seconds from the factory. There were many good deals there. The café is also a very popular spot. The terrace has beautiful views of Lake Lucerne, as well as an interactive water fountain that you can turn on manually. The last part of our private tour took us to the playground. There is a very unique marble run that plays musical sounds as the marble hits each piece of glass on the way down. I believe the glass marbles can be purchased for a small fee. I say this because our guide (not affiliated with Glasi) gave them to us as souvenirs. I just wish it wasn't raining at the time. I would have loved to dine on the terrace for lunch as I've read so many good things about the food there. It was still a good visit. They really do make glass blowing look so fun. The kids really get into doing it themselves. It's worth a stop as you make your way to Bern from Lucerne.
