Sadly it reminded me of a bowl of soup that I had in Omaha, Nebraska. In that very American cafe they definitely gave us a bowl of chicken gravey and called it soup. I'm not saying that is what Mitchell's did but I didn't finish it. Service was attentive. The meal was filling. My partner ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was quite messy but pulled pork tends to be that way. She said that there was too much vinegar on the coldslaw. Probably I would have enjoyed it more than her as I like vinegar. I gave it three stars as an okay place to eat but not a place I plan to return to. Perhaps this is more of a weekday cafe.

The burgers and beef brisket, in particular, got rave reviews from those who ordered them. Our server, Jeanine, set the stage with an overview of the philosophy of the restaurant and its focus on local products. She was personable, articulate, responsive to our requests, and very, very good at her role, especially considering the size of our group.
