I've used Highway 55 Rental flawlessly for years. I used to be a Catering Director & they were my preferred rental company. Their staff is down to earth, get it done people. I love that about them. I've worked with them on pipe & drape set-ups, chair rentals for wedding ceremonies, cotton candy machines, Carnival games, you name it. They have always provided me with personalized service, never feeling like I'm lost in the shuffle when it's their busy season (summer). This past August we rented a trailer to haul our motorcycles to Sturgis, South Dakota for the Sturgis Rally. The trailer pick-up was easy, worked great for our entire trip & the cost was more reasonable than many other places we looked. This past Halloween, we grabbed a large coffee dispenser to keep our hot chocolate warm for the trick or treaters. They have it all there! We plan to use them this summer for renting an inflatable (for the kiddos) for a BBQ event. It's great having a place so close to home that has me covered for all my party needs. Machine we rented stopped working an hour and a half into our event. No offer to refund even a portion of the payment for then rental. It was a disappointment. The had a charge on our statement for something that wasn't talked about before the rental process. read more

I rented a plate compactor (for a week) for a patio project. Had an issue with one of the accessories but they made it right in the end.

I look into every company I work with before doing business, especially when it reflects on my own business. My experience with Highway 55 Rental has been very positive. Reservations were quick and easy. My tables, chairs & linens were delivered and set up on time and with a smile. Everything was made easy for me and the price was fair and straight forward. Equipment didnt work after spending 4hrs setting it up, trying to figure out what was wrong and getting it back and forth from their location. They obviously did not check to see if it was working properly despite telling me "we check it everytime", this even AFTER I had them test it on their property and they told me the blade was dull and would not cut. Ok, sure. Didn't even apologize, only offered to not charge me or rent out another one of their machines. Um, sure, I just spend 4hrs which equals $$$ wasting my time with you. I don't expect much other than I am sorry about that, but couldnt even get that. If you like wasting time and renting shoddy equipment, shop here. read more

I rented a concrete saw from them to do some cutting. I used up roughly 1/6 of the depth of the blade (122 out of 750 units) and they charged me almost $500 for it, in addition to the cost of renting the saw. They say the blades they use are that expensive, so I asked if I'm paying for the whole blade can I at least have it? Nope, they're going to keep renting it out to other customers. I've rented from them for years, with everything from power equipment for farm work to dishes for my wedding, but this seemed like an attempt to get as much cash out of a single person as possible instead of trying to make a reasonable price for a customer. Do not go here rent any tool , the guy work there is so unhelpful , seems like he doesn't wanna help out at all , ask about the trailer, he told me trailer gonna go out soon , guess what I went back to take look 3 times , trailer is sitting there for the whole freaking time . I also ask him about the saw , he told me he doesn't have any saw for rental . Check ur freaking website , u guys put more than 10 difference saw online for rent , so what are those ? Fake tool ? Rented a car trailer. Blew out two tires at the same time and lost the fender on the trailer in Gary Indiana. Had to replace the two blown tires with new ones to get home. Had to pay for the damage caused by the non trailer rated tires . Owner of Highway 55 Rental was unwilling to negotiate on the replacement of his heavily used tires that the trailer came with two brand new ones that I was forced to purchase. read more

I just rented a stump grinder from them and the safety brake was not operating and made my job three times as hard. Talked to the manager about it and his response was you should have called us it was a simple fix. The problem with that it was an overnight rental how could i call. He made it out to be my fault and He did not care that he rented a faulty piece of equipment. No compensation for the issue other than a fuel surcharge refund of $4. Going to think really hard if I ever rent from them again as my safety is not their concern. Watch out and check the equipment thoroughly better yet go some place else read more

This place is horrible. I rented a wood chipper. It was ancient and was not well maintained. The blades were really dull and as a result it got clogged after 30 minutes of normal use. Wasted a half day of work. And then fought with the owner for months - not only wouldn't he give me a refund, he wanted me to pay for the work for unclogging it. I went to Delano and rented a better machine for less. Used it for days without any issue. I've used chippers for over 20 years. First time I had one get clogged. No vines or over filling or shutting down while chipping. Just normal usage. It was way too old and then the treatment afterwards was appalling. I'll never rent from them again. read more

Oh my gosh this company saved me! I had a nightmare of a move and I had to find a couple trucks to rent for a week quickly. I called in and the person on the phone was incredibly helpful and got me 2 trucks that same day! They gave me cost saving tips and suggestions and even offered to let us park the trucks on their secured lot if needed. What really impressed me was that after hearing our story and our concerns with the move, they called me the next day to let me know another truck was available if I might need it. I LOVE proactive companies and staff! We even had a bit of a mishap because one of the trucks leaked oil on the driveway; they sent out an employee to take care of it twice! No questions, no blame, they just did the right thing and fixed it! We brought the trucks back in the wrong order which could have caused an increased charge, but due to the fact it had an oil leak, they credited me the $30.00. They have created a loyal customer out of me, and I will recommend them to all my friends and family. read more

This company was a life saver! I needed 125 white garden chairs set up and taken down on a Saturday at a public park for a wedding that was only six days away! After my first phone call, I knew the job was in the right hands and I could let that part of the event go. The contract was emailed to me as requested and both Sam and Chris were great to work with. The day of the wedding, the chairs were delivered on time and I noticed as they were setting up that the guys had spray bottles and towels so they could spot clean any smudges! Amazing! The park required all chairs removed in a narrow time window and the company did not disappoint. All was handled professionally and with great care. read more

Very disappointed in quality of equipment and policies. Clarified that the chainsaw was sharpened or new at time of rental. Once using found out (after 2 cuts in 8" log) that it was very dull. Immediately returned to 55 Rental and was told I still had to pay for it, although they were not truthful about the blade sharpness. $69 later I left as a very disgruntled, disgusted customer. It's bad business policy. One lost customer is worth $$$$ in the long term. Will not rent from them again. read more

Horrible, HORRIBLE, customer service. My husband rented a piece of equipment for a construction job today, and the gas engine had deteriorated so that it was unusable after 25 minutes of use. He took it back and they only offered a credit toward a future rental. My husband refused and said he would like a refund, since it had interrupted his entire day of work having to drive it 35 minutes each way. They offered absolutely NO apologies for the inconvenience and continued to deny any refund (saying, "that's not the way we do it"), as my husband got more angry about their lack of service. As my husband was leaving, the owner, Jeff Pederson, followed my husband out of the store, arguing with him the entire way, and then told him to "get the f*** out of here," and said he had been a "jacka##" since he had arrived. My husband informed him that he would tell everyone he knows about his experience, to which the owner said, "I'm not worried about that." We will never be renting from them again, and will tell absolutely everyone we know to avoid this company and the owner. read more
