Diners in Banawe are creatures of habit. Most of the restaurants there have been there for decades and their customers are pretty much the same people as well. This is why whenever a new place opens up, it's either full people raring to try something new or it's completely deserted. Extremes, I know!
Highway Ribbery (yes, witty) is a newly opened restaurant near the corner of Retiro and Mayon Street. We were really excited to try it out because it was new and we were hankering for some ribs. A full rack is just 500 Pesos which is really cheap. When it arrived it was a bit tough. We asked for knives but they said they didn't have any. It's sad since you aren't even supposed to need a knife, right? Double whammy right there.
Even with this bad first impression, we're willing to give them another shot. Hopefully they redeem themselves this time. read more
