Not sure why our experience differed greatly from recent reviewers but yeah-we really enjoyed the food here-salty as it was. Service-meh-but I wasn't expecting anything other than the no-nonsense, minimal attention we got from the all-male severs in such a casual spot. Famished after four hours of Louvre trekking, son and I whipped out our phones to search for food nearby and Higuma was the winner for location and type of food (cold, gloomy Paris winter day). He ordered shoyu "lamen" set (ramen plus six gyoza), and I got chashu "lamen" by itself. With a carafe of tap water our tab was a reasonable €19.50! We both loved our ramen which was quite salty but we added chile oil and vinegar and the additions made my soup just perfect. The chashu roast pork slices were tender and flavorful and the soup had a healthy amount of bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and scallions. It's a big restaurant tightly packed with people. The service was great but the food was mediocre at best. We had kimchi, which was a bit spicy and good, and fried dumplings, which the waiter said was specialty and popular. Real Japanese Ramen is a thing. Higuma is not that thing. Weak broth, lame noodles, and flavors of disappointment were the three most memorable elements in a bowl of Higuma Shio Ramen featuring "house-made" noodles in a salt-based soup topped with a slice of roast pork, chopped leeks, and bean sprouts. Of course, you can eat it, but don't plan to enjoy it. There are better ramen options out there. Specifically, in Japan, of course, ... and in Paris, too. Overcooked Gyoza Pork Dumplings with an inferior wrapper skin were as light on flavor as they were dark in color. My wife only ate one before leaving the rest for me to endure. My favorite part of the meal was an almost-cold mug of Kirin Ichiban Draft Beer. Kudos to the chef. This is not 1989. It's ok - not great, but surely not bad After doing some sight-seeing we were pretty hungry and stumbled upon this place. We didn't have Ramen in a while, so we gave it a chance. We went for two bowls of Miso Ramen, 7.50 Euro each and a couple of beers. Service was fine and the food arrived pretty quick. Looked pretty good and tasted fine. Compared to Ramen in Japan it did lack a bit of spice and the broth was a bit on the light side. Noodles were good. It's not a bad bowl of Ramen, but if you know the real thing of course it won't hold up to it. But still good enough to be enjoyable. Come here if you want Chinese noodles, not Japanese ramen. There's a difference between both the type of cuisine and the type of noodle. The service is quick here and tables are plentiful. But the food is just not good. We ordered the cold noodles and a miso ramen- this is not miso flavor at all. I don't even know what it is and I've had many miso ramens and miso soups throughout my life. The cold noodles taste like water even when dipped in the sauce that slid right off the noodles. The dumplings that came with the miso ramen for a deal was evidently Chinese dumplings and not gyoza. What's even more disappointing is that they were all stuck to each other so when I tried to peel one dumpling from another, it fell apart. Wish I went next door for some sushi instead. read more

This ramen place has to be shameful to call themselves selling ramen. Soup base is completely ridiculous (I believe it's MSG mixed with water). I came here because I was looking for something cheap and closer to the centre Paris. Oh well. Even noodles were not chewy. And the pork was cold and got so much fat. Service was fast. Ok, I didn't expect to have the best ramen in Paris or even the best Asian food anywhere but when my friend told me that this place was pretty good, I was more than happy to check it out. The place was pretty roomy with lots of tables towards the back which they sat us there. However, we wanted to change tables to be closer to the door since phone service was not the greatest and they were a little huffy on that. I kinda expected it so ignored it. We sat down and I ordered the veggie ramen and my friend got the katsu. Both came out fairly quickly and pretty decent size. However, trying out so many ramen places in the past, this one just didn't do it for me. It was unmemorable to say the least, but hey, if you're in Paris and really hankering for some ramen, feel free to come here. Also keep in mind, the service is not the best here. read more

Craving some Asian food, I stopped into Higuma while window shopping along the Rue St. Honore. This place at lunchtime on a weekday is crazy busy. There are tourists but I would say during the day, it's mostly locals. The restaurant serves ramen, rice dishes and gyoza. I think it is run by Chinese people not Japanese as I had imagined. There are A-L-O-T of Chinese patrons here. Either Chinese families or Chinese individuals. I had a choice of menu in English, French or Chinese. I chose the French. The traditional ramen that I ordered came out pretty quick. I didn't go for one of their set multiple item menus. Just give me the ramen. You know what. It was pretty good. Decent size. A few slices of pork. Veggies. Decent broth. Very satisfying. The price is about 8 euros so by Paris prices, it's a deal. Our group of three was very surprised to find this little gem during our Paris adventures. We dined here around 6pm on a Friday evening and were seated right away. The crowd appeared to be some tourists mixed in with locals. We ordered chicken curry, Katsu curry, and Shoyu ramen noodles. We also ordered an extra side of Gyoza. The Gyoza came out in a hot minute and were quite tasty, though not the best I have had. The skin of the Gyoza was pretty thin and the filling reasonable. Both curry dishes were very flavorful and there was certainly no issue finishing every last drop. The curry was spicy but not overly hot and was very filling. The noodle soup arrived hot and the flavor was average. If in Paris again, we would definitely come back if looking for an Asian fix. In fact, we went to their other location the next night. I agree with Helen W., the ramen is decent but nothing special. I ate here because I was curious if the Asian food is as good as in the U.S., and I had eaten plenty of French food already. I ordered gyoza and miso ramen. Both were ok, the gyoza didn't come with any dipping sauce like it typically does in the States. The ramen noodles were good, the broth was kinda bland but it still hit the spot. Randomly enough, my father introduced me to this Japanese gem; it's a stone's throw away from his office and after my mother and I picked him up for lunch one day, he treated us to lunch there before we headed to the Louvres museum shortly after, seeing as it's only a few hundred yards from this place. First notable thing upon entering the place: it's absolutely spotless. Clean but not sterile. It was style, but doesn't scream at you. It's very simple yet welcoming, very much like some of the ramen shops I've been to in Tokyo. I dig it. I happily sit and get excited. Keeping it classic, I ordered up a bowl of beef ramen and a side of pork gyoza. And some tea. The waiter is very nice and the food arrived shortly after. First the gyoza which were succulent. The pork inside was moist and very flavorful; Unfortunately my parents had to try my portion as well and although I usually don't mind sharing, this time I did. They ate half of it. Bastards. Then came the piping off bowl of delicious ramen. The broth was amazing and it come with all kinds of delicious things floating around in there; half an egg, scallions, noodles, slices of beef and various other things. It was amazing and easily Paris' best bowl of ramen one can find. The food was delicious and the prices were low. I look forward to returning to Higuma on my next visit home to see the folks in Paris. read more

Nice place near the Lourve and considering it was sprinkling, we were more than ready for a steaming hot bowl of ramen. I live in a pretty Asian area and after traveling through Europe for as long as we did, I had an idea that my expectations were to be lowered for ramen. It's cheap and quick. Not very flavorful and the noodles were a bit mushy. It's not the best I have ever had but I am not sure if there are even any other ramen places in the area with as good a price as Higuma. read more

We were searching for a nice affordable ramen place after visiting the Louvre and came across this restaurant. This was one of the few ramen shops that was open around mid afternoon so we hoped for the best. We got gyoza and a miso ramen. The gyoza was actually pretty good, but the ramen was not that great. The broth was okay but it was a bit too salty. The noodles however... I don't think they were traditional ramen noodles? Whatever it was I didn't feel like I was eating a bowl of ramen. The whole staff spoke cantonese and mandarin... so I guess that explains the non-traditional ramen. There was also a fruit fly buzzing circling around which annoyed me quite a bit. This restaurant is the second location of the very famous Higuma of rue Sainte-Anne. It has the huge advantage of having less of a line at peak hour, the decoration is also cleaner and more colorful, though slightly less authentic. The menu and the quality is exactly the same though so if you're location-agnostic pick this Higuma, you won't have to wait! My personal favorite is to start with gyoza and get an oyakodon (rice, chicken and omelet). Their chukadon are very good too. I wouldn't recommend the ramens there: you'll find tastier soup and better noodles at other restaurants rue sainte-anne read more

Dropped by for lunch after exploring around the Louvre, and had a good lunch experience. The service was quick, and everything tasted fresh. This isn't the best ramen, and everything we ordered was a little too salty, but it hits the spot for a quick cheap lunch! I haven't had a meal that bad in a long time. If the price is why this place is packed...,I'd rather go without dinner and save the euros. Full of grease and low quality ingredients. We left 4 out of 5 entrees untouched. All we ate all of was the salad. It was filthy. Huge table we sat at had grease all over the table and a wadded up napkin in the chair. I don't believe this place is japanese owned... which can explain the lack of flavor in both my kimuchi lamen and fried rice... and the gyoza. I went to Higuma with my partner and one of his colleagues. He wanted to take us for Japanese food. We get there and there is a line out the door and across a cross walk. I decided to shift the line around the corner of the building to get the crowd out of the street. The wait was about thirty minutes. A host would come outside and find out who and how many. They want to get as many people in the door as possible. The food was good for the price. I ordered a combination of ramen and gyoza. I would go again but I would try to avoid the crowd by going at a less busy hour. This place really draws a crowd. The restaurant is larger than it appears so the wait is not to long. We've visited before and were seated quickly so decided to go again after queues everywhere else. However this time we had a few issues.. I asked for added seaweed in my ramen and was told this was ok, except when it arrived it did not have any. I asked the waitress who said she had misunderstood and had to check with the chef if that was possible - she returned and said it wasn't. Because of this mix up I asked if I could change for a different dish, as I had not touched the dish in front of me while waiting, I was told it was too late but "for the next time". I normally don't post reviews, but this place served THE WORST "lamen" ever. We had 3 different varieties, all 3 deserve ZERO stars!

Have been her now 3 times and each time it has been authentic and tasteful. Service is incredibly fast and clean. A lot of locals and foreigners come here for the atmosphere and great taste. I have never been disappointed in this place nor the restaurant next door which is the sushi portion. Same owners same service same great taste and I have busted this place as well for dinner with my wife. Chances of coming back are high. read more

The service is un existing but luckily it was quite efficient. We had to make a few signs to be able to make the order but after that the dishes came relatively quickly. The Gyoza were quite good but I was quite disapointed by my Lamen. The soup was average but the pork was not good. It was not very tasty and a bad texture. For years Higuma has been a go-to Japanese restaurant for me for ramen and donburi, so it truly pains me to write about the place in the negative. That said, the lunch I had at the St. Honoré location today was horrifyingly bad. First there was the (non-) service, which was so bad that it necessitated I write what I wanted on a napkin and hand it to the person manning the cash register (my seemingly invisible self was seated just across from same). Then the gyoza I ordered were virtually thrown/dumped on my table in a manner akin to drive-by and without a sauce dish (necessitating I get up and grab one from a nearby prep station). My request for water seemed to fall on deaf ears, too (and not temporarily deaf ones...it never showed up). Finally, to add to the misery, the Tendon donburi that followed was undercooked, with the breaded coating limp and sticky on the shrimp and vegetables in the bowl. All in all, I had an experience today at Higuma St. Honoré bad -- nay, awful -- enough to get me to resolve to drop this 1-star review. Perhaps it is the expansion of the restaurant from the original St. Anne location to three locations in such a short period that has caused this once-favorite restaurant of mine to fall so far, or maybe I was being taught a lesson for taking it upon myself to put my order in via napkin after a 15-minute wait with menu in hand...whatever the case, I won't be darkening the doorstep of the Higuma St. Honoré location again and it will be some time before I recover from the ugly taste in my mouth enough to drop into the St. Anne location to see if what I experienced today was just an unfortunate anomaly. I thought writing this review on Yelp would help me to feel less angry about today's Higuma lunch...maybe vanquish a demon or two...but that is not the case. If I can give this place a 0, then I would. Since I was in the area for New Year's Eve, and Takara was closed so my boyfriend and I decided to just grab something quick to eat and be on our way. We thought that since there are a lot of authentic japanese food around the area this would be too. Boy was I wrong!! This is by far the WORST food I have had in a VERY long time. I ordered a yaki-soba set and my boyfriend ordered a miso ramen set. First let me just say that my boyfriend's ramen soup was water mixed with msg powder. It was no where near being the correct ramen soup base. As for my yakisoba, it was really depressing. This place just decided to use some random noodles they could find to throw it in with some yakisoba sauce. Inside the yakisoba it was mixed with squid, green peas, and some carrots. Right when they brought out the yakisoba to me, I asked the waitress for mayo and mustard to mix my yakisoba was. She stared at me as if I was insane and I quote this is what she said ".... WHAT?! What you want? ... No!" Then she walked away.. I believe this place is opened targeted to Chinese tourists, since all the waiters/waitresses there didn't speak 1 word of Japanese. Worst ramen ever. We asked for no vegetables in our soup but they told us that they couldn't do that for us because it was cooked in the soup. However, when our ramen came out it was clear that the vegetables were added on top of the ramen (fresh vegetables that were not cooked with the broth) and didn't have to be in the soup. The service was bad and the ramen was okay. If you want good ramen go to Kintaro down the street. read more
