"But she'll be back next week and you should have your check by Friday." Email today because I did not get the check. "I apologize the accountant for the firm has returned this week and I emailed her this morning to provide your check as soon as possible. I will let you know as soon as it's ready." I have to say there is nothing better than when an organization lives up to the stereotypes of lawyers being slimy and duplicitous. I suspect one of the problems for many firms are they assume their clients are somehow "beneath them." Unfortunately, for many of us, we are recovering from very serious accidents so we may not have the same "fight" in us that we had before our accidents. They are incredible in the beginning; concerned, empathetic, and seemingly concerned for your well-being.
