I made the mistake of using Modern Family Law for a case. I was assigned Anna Courcy out of the…read moreDallas office. This place uses shady billing practices; I didn't want to believe it but it's true. The child custody case should have been open shut because the mother and I agreed on everything up front. Anna proceeded to keep emailing and saying that adjustments need to be made to the documents, although none were needed because I already agreed to everything with the child's mother. Anna proceeded to say that there were mistakes, and she needed to keep resending the documents to the opposing party to review when it wasn't necessary. We already agreed on everything, and I did not request any changes! I soon realized that she was trying to prolong the case to keep billing. It seems that other clients of Modern Family Law at other locations, have complained about the same thing so it must be something that the company as a whole does. At first the invoices were a few hundred, every 2 weeks. Once I kept pushing for Anna to just send the paperwork to the opposing party because it's not necessary and because she kept fighting me about it, the invoicing increased to the thousands! It's unfortunate but this is just how people seem to operate now. I hope you take this as a warning, do not go with this law firm.
